Embarrassed to give it rating in stars, it can never compared to other books. embarrassed more to the fact that is not translated yet to Arabic. Our misery has been written in foreign hands in order to reach foreign ears. Clearly not aimed to Syrian people (nor the Arabic audience), as we are considered to be not civilized enough to engage in human rights advocacy! Or maybe neutralized by still living those atrocities.
Could someone someday bring justice to Syria?

Un livre bouleversant, mais absolument nécessaire et réussi, écrit avec beaucoup de doigté. Le ton, la structure, les propos sont tellement justes, savamment dosés et servent totalement la mission de César et de LeCaisne: faire savoir au monde comment, en ce moment même, les prisonniers syriens sont torturés, affamés, déhumanisés. Pour que les autres gouvernements interviennent enfin.

Cezar pochodzi z Syrii. Widział to wszystko na własne oczy. W pewnym momencie okrucieństwo, z jakim się spotykał było nie do wytrzymania. Wtedy patrzył już tylko przez obiektyw aparatu.

Interesting and shocking true story about the main photographer - former state employee - who leaked to the world public opinion tens of thousands of photos documenting the horrible crimes of Bashar al-Assad`s criminal regime, that can and should be called upon to answer for the sheer genocide of its own people. As this book teaches us, it is so easy to kill virtually every opponent under the false claim that he is a terrorist, only to strengthen the regime of terror in times of grueling civil war.

The story follows „Cesar” and some of his friends and collaborators in this risky attempt of exposing the real face of the Syrian regime still in power. But, of course, pretty much like in other similar cases (Cambodia, Rwanda, Sudan etc), the Western world did not seem to care too much about this, except for the late U.S. Senator John McCain and some French diplomats.

A revealing and unsettling book about an ongoing problem that seems to have no solution, as the past eight years have showed.

Operațiunea Cezar este o nouă emblemă a cruzimii de care dau dovadă așa numiții oameni. Garance Le Caisne pune în lumina reflectoarelor noi dovezi, noi mărturii, noi voci care povestesc orori și dezastre ale războiului din Siria, în mijlocul căruia oameni nevinovați își pierd nu numai viața ci și integritatea de persoană. Garance Le Caisne, alături de Cezar, ne oferă o imagine din infernul din Siria. Acel infern care durează de câțiva ani și pentru stoparea căruia nu s-a luat nici o măsură.
Alegând să citiți Operațiunea Cezar vă asumați răspunderea ororilor ce vi se vor derula în fața ochilor. Aceasta nu este o carte pentru oricine, și nu orice cititor o va putea duce la bun sfârșit, dar este o poveste ce merită auzită.

Syyrian sisällissodan alkuvuosina länsimaihin loikkasi sotilaspoliisin valokuvaaja (jonka työtehtävänä oli nimenomaan ruumiiden kuvaaminen) kerättyään henkensä kaupalla parin vuoden ajan aineistoa eli juurikin valokuvia sekä asiakirjoja. Sanoisinko vielä että varsin kattavavasti, koska salakuljetettu aineisto käsitti yli 45 000 valokuvaa ja asiakirjaa. Äijän tarkoituksena oli saada länsimaat puuttumaan al-Assadin koneiston suorittamaan kansanmurhaan. Ja valitettavasti melko laihoin tuloksin. Kirja piirtää kohtalaisen masentavan kuvan siitä kuinka esim. YK:n toimenpiteet tuppaavat jäämään pelkäksi sanahelinäksi - sama koskee yksittäisiä valtioitakin. Ja toki on sitten maat kuten Venäjä ja Kiina, jotka kaikesta huolimatta tukevat al-Assadin hallintoa.

Ce photographe de la police militaire a risqué sa vie pour exfiltrer, pendant deux ans, 45 000 photos et documents de détenus torturés à mort. Maintenant que nous avons des preuves, il est temps de traduire en justice ces responsables, même si actuellement cela relève plus d'une utopie qu'autre chose.

Dit boek heb ik gelezen tijdens een periode die we bestempelen als (financiële) crisis. Dit boek over Caesar gaat over een crisis die van een ander caliber is, het type crisis dat je laat twijfelen aan alles en iedereen. Heftig om te lezen, maar goed om op deze manier achter de historie van de Syrische vluchtelingen te komen.

Overigens kan ik dit boek moeilijk beoordelen aan de hand van sterren, dit doe ik dan ook niet.

This book should be read by everyone as it refers to extremely important issue of massive murders in Syria. The world must to know about Cesar and his extremely risky mission. I'm grateful to the author for bringing up the international attention to the issue. I ranked it only with 3 stars because the book contains too many stories and is quite chaotic to me so It was difficult for me to follow and to understand the chronology.

Ich bekomme Gänsehaut jedes Mal wenn ich denke was für Horror die arme Menschen in Assad‘s Gefängnissen sehen müssen.
Caesar ist heldenhafter Mensch, der sein Gewissen ihm dazu bewegt, so ein Risiko einzugehen und seine Leben und dessen Familie zu riskieren, um das Leid der Menschen ins Licht zu bringen und hoffentlich der Assad und seine Geheimdienstleute vor Gericht zu stellen.

This book is heartbreaking. Not only because there is so much suffering and pain in the lives of these Syrian victims, but also because despite all the proof that the Syrian government is rotten, barely anything is done on an international scale to help Syrians.

Ce n'est pas facile pour moi d'écrire une revue sur ce livre, j'ai déjà rencontré plusieurs victimes de tortures dans les geôles du régime.
Ce que je trouve très marquant que même avec l'existence des milliers des preuves tangibles sur les atrocités de ce régime la communauté internationale fait rein.

Un livre nécessaire et important. Le fond est 5/5. Je mets 3/5 uniquement pour la forme parce que l'écriture est parfois difficile à suivre.
