Kenyon does it again! I couldn't put it down! Every time I start a new League book I think it can't be better than the last... but it always is. Born of Legend does not disappoint. Since this review is being written pre-release I will not give away any spoilers, but I did notice a lot of parallels to Styxx (DH series). You think you know and hate a character by their actions in previous books, but in reality you have no idea what they've been through until you get to their story. Born of Legend ...more

He goes by many names: Dagger Ixur, Julien Dagger Samari, but the villain we all love to hate the former Tiziran Jullien Eton Anatole is back and this is his story. Jullien a.k.a. Dagger currently goes into hiding after the League and his evil family place a Kill-Thrill Warrant on his head for all the evil atrocities he had committed in the past not knowing that he had no control to his actions due to his family's callousness and abuse towards him. I love this series and indeed think it's probably the authors best work so I'm always jumping up and down with eager anticipation for the next League book. Strong characters, amazing world building and oh such hot romance. Soooooo what about this one?
I was very surprised when I realised that the hero is Julian as he is one of the most hated and reviled characters in the series. The things he has done to his twin brother Nyk and others who were at school with him just begged belief and yet the au

This is my first book review ever, but I seriously felt the need to write one since this book is AMAZINGLY BREATHTAKING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly was looking forward to reading this book especially since Jullien has always been one of those characters I totally despised. Then BAM , I read the first chapter in this book and I'm a goner.

One important thing worth mentioning is that this is the first time I don't have a love-hate relationship with the female heroin. I love Ushara ,and

I didn't care for it. The primary male character was ruined for me when the author continually and repetitively emphasized how his childhood and existence to date was worse than anyone else in the entire universe.

This is usually the part of the review where I give a blurb...but, this is book 11 (or book 9, depending on where you look, if you understand this, please let me know 'cos I don't get it!) I am not going to go into an in depth blurb. I'm pretty sure if you have got this far you don't need one. If you are new to this series don't bother reading any further, this is a series you need to read in order, so check out my review of the first book instead Born of Night.

So back on track, Born of Legend

First let me say that I loved the gist of the story. I've read the entire series and am a big fan of Kenyon's writing.

That said, here are the reasons I gave Born of Legend 3 stars instead of 5:

* The story covers roughly fives years and the transitions are horrible. There are literally points where you stop and say "wait, what?" because time jumps - particularly the last third of the story.

* The editing is mediocre at best. There are sentences that stop you because they are so awkwardly written o

Born of Legend is Book 9 in the amazing Sherrilyn Kenyon's League Series. In many ways it has leap frogged to the top of my favorite Kenyon Series. Maybe because it remains true to the beginning.. and maybe because it's just that good.

We all know you can't have a Kenyon hero without him having a tortured soul, it's j

Great edition to the series, couldn't put it down. Kenyon has created such a vast universe with so many interesting characters who's stories weave together creating the vast and badass tapestry that is The League series. All the books build off one another in such a great way, making each one better than the last.

You can't help but draw parallels between Jullien and Styxx from The Dark-Hunter series. In both cases Kenyon did an amazing job of adding depth and perspective to two of some the most

Wow!!!! I'm in love with The League series and I can't get enough.... I'm waiting for the next book to come out... Now that I've read Jullien's story I did feel sorry for him for what he went through as a child and as an adult but in the end he found happiness and a family that cares.... I can't wait for Bastien Cabarro's story

I don't know what to say. Kenyon does it again. This was a remarkable book. It was not large enough in my opinion. I wanted it more.

You would assume the book would start with when Jullien was just a child but it didn't. Rather we see glimpses of it and through Jullien's mind. From everything we learned from Born of Betrayal about him, Jullien is not someone who we thought he was but a different being. Running for his life after his grandmother put a Thrill-kill on him and exiled from his kingdo

What an amazing story. I am always amazed how Sherrilyn Kenyon can take the most monstrous seeming character and turn everything around so they are then the hero. I now see Julian as my favorite character out of all the others. The way every single family member treated him since birth is just horrifying, but then to have to see them again after he was starting to heal just made me cringe throughout the book.

My favorite parts were his time with his Tavali family. Ushara is such an amazing woman

Nice to be able to read a story about Jullien. He did not have the good life I thought he did. Glad he finally got his revenge against his grandmother. Also glad that his other family members were finally able to hear the truth. Hope he will be able to have a long and happy life with Ushara. Wonder when the war will start.

Can't wait to read Born of Vengeance!!!!

Well Ms. Kenyon, you've done it again. You have made a villain into a hero once again. I love the hell out of Julien and every other darn character in this book - Trejan, Thrace, Ushara. Unbelievable.

I was surprisingly entertained by this doorstopper of a book, considering that its protagonist was the (formerly) evil, cowardly, repulsive Prince Julian, the evil twin brother of (still my favorite League hero) Nykyrian from Born of Night. Prior to this book, Julian was best known for trying to get Nyk horribly tortured as a child, having Nyk's soulmate Kiara kidnapped by a homicidal psycho, attempting to have another awesome good guy protagonist (Talyn from Born of Defiance) mutilated and murd ...more

I read this while we moved to our new home and even with the interruptions and stress, I still kept going. AND it was super long - much longer than my usual read. The fact that I continued to be enthralled is a testament to Ms. Kenyon's writing and storytelling.

This was so unbelievably fantastic, I don't even know what to say. Jules has somehow become my absolute favorite character, with Trajen and Thraix tied for second place. <3 Everything in this book was so heart-wrenching and inspiring, and I really just loved every minute of it. Just to give some more weight to how much I adored this from the start, be aware of the fact that not only did I pre-order it months ago for my Nook, I put an alert on my phone for the release date, struggled to get th ...more

When I found out who this story focused on, I about had a heart attack! The author does an amazing job of telling his story in such a way that we can’t help but love him as a Hero!

Dagger was an awesome hero, striving to be more than his past and do right by those he had harmed. I loved how Ushara accepted him through his current actions and not his past! The twists and turns that the story took was amazing, and the fact that Dagger had to save his birth family, but ended up not reconciling with

Gosh, how much I love this series. The characters and worldbuilding are amazing and it keeps me going even if there are parts I don't like that much in it. (the unecessary amount of dramatic scenes and violence etc.)

This book is the example how a good plot and writing can make you like a character you hated basically in 8 and a half books. I never thought I would like Jules. Ever. And yet...

Please, now let us find more about the Trisani people and Nero. I'm waiting for his book for year

One of the best books I've ever read. Once again Ms Kenyon takes us on a journey, and shows us that what we see isn't all that's their. She takes a much hated character and reveals his hidden traumatic past. And his struggle to overcome it and make amends for past wrongs. I will read this book over and over again.

Book six of seven in my pneumonia binging haze brought me to tears and to my knees. I have already re-read several sections in this book about 4 times and I just finished the book early Monday morning. I cried over Jullien because his story is the most disturbing and saddest to me of all. Through very little actions of his own, he's been tortured, beaten, abused and just about everything because of how he looks! I know that from other books, his mother seems to be a great person but every story ...more

“Life is never the fairy tale they sold us on when we were kids. More often, it’s the nightmare we can never wake from. What they don’t tell us when we’re little is that the trick is to find the one who will be there in the middle of the night to hold us when we’re screaming and tell us that it’ll be all right. The one who doesn’t shirk or run from our nightmares, but who holds us through them and makes sure we never face them alone.” 9 likes
