The Uprising was an epic journey that had me devouring the pages as fast as possible! I easily found myself lost in all of the adventure, love, laughter, loss and plenty of risks all over again. But this time around, many of the pieces of the puzzle were starting to move into place. We got to see how certain events and even characters were fitting together, and it has me so ecstatic for what's to come! Especially since I found myself laughing, screaming, smiling, and crying while reading Th The Uprising was an epic journey that had me devouring the pages as fast as possible! I easily found myself lost in all of the adventure, love, laughter, loss and plenty of risks all over again. But this time around, many of the pieces of the puzzle were starting to move into place. We got to see how certain events and even characters were fitting together, and it has me so ecstatic for what's to come! Especially since I found myself laughing, screaming, smiling, and crying while reading The Uprising. You see, I'm completely addicted to the characters and storyline in this series. So of course I loved every minute of it! And here's a few other reasons why I adore this series -

✮ Romance that rings true.

I should go home, head back out to the Ruins, so I don’t have to watch another person I love die.
But I can’t, not until I know she’s safe.
Even if it kills me. - Cyrus

Evan and Cyrus' love for one another burned bright, and it was truly intoxicating! But it was also a passionate, broken mess at times. They both had so much expectation weighing on them, and sometimes that weight helped to easily lead them down that broken path. Whether it was an ex coming back into the picture, or a poorly made decision, there was bound to be a few fights. Even though I kept rooting for them to find the path that fit, their makeup scenes were scorching hot!

✮ A sigh inducing book boyfriend.

He sighs, squeezing me tighter and says so softly it’s almost a sigh, “I don’t know who I am without you anymore.”
The tears that have been threatening all day flood my eyes as I rest my head against the boy I love so fiercely it terrifies me.
“Ev,”he whispers.
I lift my head, wiping my eyes, and glance up at him. The depth of emotion in his eyes slams into me, leaving me speechless.
He lowers his face inch by agonizing inch until I feel the soft brush of my favorite lips. His mouth moves with mine in a way that’s both familiar and somehow different, desperate and exciting, drawing out emotions until my heart is spiraling. - Evan & Cyrus

This time around, we also got to hear the story in Cyrus' point of view. That made me extremely giddy. You see, Cyrus always had a way of getting under my skin. He was one of those characters that captured your attention in a quiet yet bold and confident way. Whether it was baring his soul to Evan, or taking control of a military like tactic. So being privy to his thoughts was addicting! Cyrus' feelings radiated off of the pages and easily landed themselves right into my heart.

✮ Friendships that are deep and meaningful.

“So, tell me what’s going on with you and the crazy redhead.”
“We’re not having this conversation, Rainey.”
“Sure we are. You’re acting like a giant ass, you know.” - Cyrus & Rainey

One of my favorite things about The Union Series was how friendships were cultivated throughout every moment. Whether they were hanging out around a bonfire or they were trying to save their friend who had a gun to their head, each moment added up to making me feel as though I knew them inside out. And in each book, I found myself becoming attached to yet another character. This time around it was Rainey. I loved how she was rough around the edges yet she was always there to push Cyrus to talk to her about Evan. But to be honest, I'm scared because I'm getting attached to too many of them!

✮ Character I love to hate.

I can’t pretend her sleeping with that douche doesn’t piss me off. I want to punch something every time I see him, which is pretty much every fucking day. - Cyrus

Oh yes, I'm going there lol. Yeah there are the typical bad guys to loathe, like Walker, but who I'm talking about is Bryce. If you've read my previous reviews, you know that I clearly despise the guy. I've shamelessly asked for his death, and all because he still harbors feelings for Evan. I will admit that I enjoy loathing Bryce, yes I know I clearly must have issues, but seriously is it too much to ask for him to die? Please. Is there anyone else in the world that agrees with me?

So if you love a story filled to the brim with adventure and characters that you will feel deeply connected to, then this is most definitely your book! Or even if you enjoy a world that leaps off of the pages and has sigh worthy tender moments laced throughout, that can be found here also. Stepping back into this series made my heart beat faster and oh so happy! I can't wait to see what happens next, especially after that ending!

Another AMAZING read! Hernandez NAILS it once again. I cannot stop feeling what I feel for this series and its characters. All of the elements that made the first two books fantastic were also very present in this story.

I can't say much about the happenings of this book because it's the third book of a series and I don't want to spoil. But I will say that the character development continues to grow and impress. The pacing of ...more

This series has been phenomenal! The Uprising is book 3 in The Union series and I am absolutely in love with this world and the characters. This book in full of action and adventure as well as love and loss. It melds these elements together is such a well-crafted way that I didn’t want it to end. By this point in the series, a lot of the endgame is finally starting to fall into place and when I was reading I thought this was the final book, so when I c “I don’t know who I am without you anymore.”

This series has been phenomenal! The Uprising is book 3 in The Union series and I am absolutely in love with this world and the characters. This book in full of action and adventure as well as love and loss. It melds these elements together is such a well-crafted way that I didn’t want it to end. By this point in the series, a lot of the endgame is finally starting to fall into place and when I was reading I thought this was the final book, so when I came upon the ending I knew there had to be more and I couldn’t have been happier.

Evan is once again thrust into making life altering decisions and she has finally accepted her role in this world. She also accepts her love for Cyrus. Whom we get his point of view in this book, which was so perfect. Evan and Cyrus are meant for each other…but circumstances have them completely separated for most of this book, which was heartbreaking in itself, but fortunately worked in a suspenseful way. Evan is such a well written character. She is strong and when she makes mistakes its not a woe is me moment. It turns into pulling herself up by her bootstraps and fixing the problems at hand. She has really grown leaps and bounds since book 1, not in a forced way, but in she has learned from her naivety about the world she lives in through her experiences and used that to mold her into a very empathetic hero.

There is a little bit of pining and woe-is-me on both Evan and Cyrus’ parts when they are struggling to vocalize their emotions, but again Evan is a teenager and Cyrus grew up in a much harder environment so I think their personalities make perfect sense when it comes to their uneasiness to settle into themselves and accept each other for who they are, and that they are capable of being together. Cyrus has some of the most swoony lines ever in this book, I am so dying for their HEA! Do you hear me, T.H. Hernandez? I need them together, no more possible love triangles, no more angsty will they or won’t they! Just plain old we’re in love together and we are bringing down the damn uprising…together!

I have said it before in my past reviews but this book really makes you care for characters and it writes in the importance of friendships and family so well. I have absolutely fallen in love with all of the characters, even the ones I want to hate but I can’t because they too aren’t bad people, just slightly conniving. Oh and I love Rainey. Give me more of her. Honestly, all the side characters are so good, they all bring something to this story and not a one of them feels extraneous.

The Uprising has everything I need in a good book; a well-built dystopia, a futuristic world, conspiracies, action, adventure, and most of all love. I mean what are we doing if there isn’t love in our world! We need to fight for something, we need love to keep us motivated to keep us balanced. I am not so patiently waiting on book 4 and I highly recommend if you love a perfect dystopian read! ...more

Loved the action in this book! 5 Shiny stars for the heart-pounding 'who's going to make it?' 'what's going to happen?' nervousness.
But Evan and Cyrus's little quibbles arguments kinda annoyed me (there are bigger issues here kids!) I had to remind myself that they ARE in fact teenagers. Very real in that aspect. I still love them, but parts of this book had me starting to doubt whether they should even be together! NOOOOO! Don't do this to me!!! Ev & Cyrus 4EVA!

Recommends it for: Those you enjoy young adult and/or dystopian novels.

This is the best so far of TH Hernandez's "Union" series. The third in the series finds 19-year-old Evan back in the Ruins, trying, with her friends, to stop the uprising against the Union.

What I liked best: Evan and Cyrus both seem to have grown up and become more self-aware than in the earlier books. Both still young and apt to make assumptions, they're learning to have a relationship.

The Union Series from TH Hernandez has been a refreshing and well written Young Adult series from the very beginning! It captured me on page one of the first book and I have been waiting on bated breath to see what happens with the characters and the world that Hernandez has so wonderfully shared. I am still a bit stunned at how this book progressed. And when I say stunned I mean it in the best possible way. There are so many moving parts and characters within the story that it comes alive as yo The Union Series from TH Hernandez has been a refreshing and well written Young Adult series from the very beginning! It captured me on page one of the first book and I have been waiting on bated breath to see what happens with the characters and the world that Hernandez has so wonderfully shared. I am still a bit stunned at how this book progressed. And when I say stunned I mean it in the best possible way. There are so many moving parts and characters within the story that it comes alive as you read. There is a sense of adventure coupled with an urgency to do what is right and fight for the cause. The Uprising is a fast paced story that bring the best of the series to life and leaves you oddly satisfied while still wanting so much more.

First off I was not prepared for what happened in the end. I thought that this was the last book in the series, but now I am desperate for more. I read the last paragraph and found myself clicking frantically to the next page on my kindle with nothing there. I was shocked. Now I am even more invested than I was before and I cannot wait for what is to come. All I can say is that it had better come quickly or I just might freak out.

This story was filled with action. There is a common goal in mind for all the characters involved and watching that unfold was gripping. The story progresses logically and brilliantly adding to the series a sense of more excitement and danger. One thing that is different in this book than all the others before is that it is in dual POVs. I loved this idea. We see things unfold though Evan and Cyrus’ viewpoints and that helps to enhance the budding romance and the emotional attachment of the series. Everything in this book is a classic take on the dystopian story. There are teenagers and young adults fighting against an faceless tyranny, one that is set to destroy what they know. It is always interesting to see how an author spins that theme into something new. Hernandez does a great job of making the issues, emotions, and situations age appropriate. There is quite a bit of floundering. The characters must learn to work through emotional issues and roadblocks they encounter. It is messy which makes it plausible and a great story. I was invested in what happened to Evan and Cyrus. In my mind they were always meant to be. Seeing them both muddle through what is happening in dual POVs gives more depth to the story and a more satisfying romantic storyline.

Adventure is this books source of intrigue. There is not a dull moment. As the plans to fight the Uprising become more complicated, so do the dangerous missions and plans. I loved seeing how this group problem solves. They must learn to enhance their strengths as a whole and compensate for weaknesses. We see that even the most brilliant and though out plans have the chance to go wrong and the adrenaline from what could happen and what does happen carry the book into something exciting. This book converges all the people we have met from the very beginning. We see the people from the Union working and planning with the people from the Ruins. There are so many different strengths that each person brings to the story, allowing everything to progress and bring a stunning story to life. I loved seeing everyone together and how the comradery grows with each situation.

The overall emotion and depth of this story is profound. In this book we see so much that happens and the characters are not immune. The reality of what happens and the consequences they face are heartbreakingly written. Hernandez does a great job of getting the reader to emotionally invest in what is taking place and rooting on the characters we meet. The Union Series is by far one of my most favorite Young Adult series ever! It is a story of love, loss, and fight. There is depth that surprises you and characters that will endear you to the series. The twists and turns of this book kept me on my toes, always wondering what would happen next and who would survive in the end. What I thought would be an epic conclusion became yet another gripping step in the ladder to see what would happen in the end. ...more

The Uprising is the third installment in The Union Series. I was recently asked if I would like to review this book as I had recently taken part in the book tour for the first book in the series. I was glad there had only been a bout 3 weeks in between reading the first two and the third so I still had the characters and the premise of the book fresh in my head.

I have to say this was probably my favorite book in the series. The kids are getting so close to having all the puzzle pieces if they ca The Uprising is the third installment in The Union Series. I was so glad to have Cyrus back but once Bryce stepped back into the story, Cyrus becomes distant and annoying. I was so agitated by the couples constant fighting and jealous mood swings, I was tempted to throw my tablet at the wall a couple of times Evan and Cyrus waste so much time not communicating or being petty and stupid that they are about to miss out on something truly special.

Armed finally with enough intel the kids band together to really hurt the uprising where it counts and hopefully take down the organization but in order to do that they are going to have to split into teams and strike at the same time.

I was so glad to see that the author didn't gloss over the fact that lives were lost and that children were responsible for taking the life of another child. Most YA novel gloss over the fact that the hero/heroine in the story just do what needs to be done without any real ramifications to those actions. So while I felt bad for Evan I was glad that Hernandez gave her panic attacks and PTSD I think its really responsible to show that there are real consequences to action like that. I felt like it really humanized Evans character like nothing else.

While I see that the cover of The Uprising says its the final book in The Union Series the end had me raring to go for a next installment, there are a lot of loose ends to tie up and the ending had me wired. Which to be honest is not a good thing at 1:30 am ( thankfully the hubby is away on business ). It lends itself perfectly for a fourth book and I am sure that fans of the series would agree with me that seriously we want to know what happens next.

This is a great series and I really recommend it to YA and Distopian Lovers

Well well this books just keeps chugging along.
I really like this plot but there was a point for me when I got a wee bit annoyed because it was kinda like umm 😐 we haven’t gotten very far here people. And for real Cy stop being a bratty man child. And same goes for Evan... goodness. COMMUNICATION PEOPLE!!!
I did like how they are progressing and what all happened where and what steps they are taking it just seemed like for a bit in this book we were at a bit of a stand still.
