The homes of British writers and places in Ireland, Scotland, and England described in their literatures are depicted and arranged into a series of informative tours
Reading this makes you feel like you've swallowed an encyclopaedia. The author races through Britain with fact after fact. Parts were interesting, and no doubt it was well researched, but the book works best as a reference work for studying the individual writers/places using the indexes, not really to be read in one go!
