Among the numerous productions which in this age of improvement issue from the press, for the amusement and instruction of youth, this little volume again presents itself, for a share of public patronage.
It was first published in London, in 1798; since then, an octavo edition has there appeared, entirely deficient in those points which give to this, its most attractive character; the volume is swelled by dialogues on desultory subjects, generally in a prosing or turgid style, which, however instructive in themselves, seem to us to have no connexion with Keepers adventures, and occasion the touching moral of his story to be completely lost sight of. It was at an early period in excellence of juvenile literature, that this little book, together with Sanford and Merton, and a few others, obtained their celebrity; for it was generally to mediocre talents that children's books were intrusted, under the impression that any one could write them.

Quite a literal title, huh. A dog goes to look for his master, that's the premise. Simple, but it works. I quite enjoyed reading Keeper's journey. Also this is arguably one if the earliest animal xenofiction novels ever published, so I liked reading this for historical reasons.
The author can be quite heavy-handed with his messages about courage, fear, dogs and animal rights, but it wasn't too bad imo.
