Who would mortgage his home to save children he had never met, put planes in the air on mercy flight into Soviet territory without a landing permit, and send tankers of chocolate to children abroad. Meet Bob Macauley, the natural born entrepreneur who founded the Virginia Fibre Company and AmeriCares (www.americares.org). His Name Is Today chronicles Bob's life from his early years to the creation of The Shoeshine Foundation, his role as Chairman of Covenant House, and the fatal meeting with the Pope that inspired the creation of AmeriCares.

I overheard the director of the Americares clinic where I recently started volunteering mention this book. I was very interested in knowing the history of the organization and it’s founder. I love being at the clinic and now I have a new understanding of the huge impact of the philanthropy of Bob Macauley.

This man has done many wonderful things for poor people. His charity Americares sounds like a wonderful thing for those who need it the most.
