This book sets the foundation to get students asking and answering questions about the state of Illinois and Chicago. Students will learn how Illinois was a glacier long before the first settlers stepped foot on its soil. Students reading at the exceeding level according to their independent reading level will love the challenge of reading all about the great state of Illinois and how the City of Chicago was born. Students will navigate through many historical facts via photographs; maps, time lines, and historic information that will help them better understand the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago.
