Тут підписався на челендж і мені випало БД «Дитя шторму» («L'Enfant de l'orage») Мануеля Бішебуа.
Це історія про хлопчика Лайта, який будучи дитиною, виявляє, що він наділений дивною силою, яка проявляється лише в розпал грози. Життя його не є легким, бо він інший. А ті, які бажають отримати вигоду з його сили, хочуть просто тримати його в кайданах. Він змушений тікати світ за очі, а дорогою намагається з’ясувати, звідки у нього ці сили.
Перша арка «Дитя шторму» (3 альбоми), яку малював Дідьє Полі, розповідає про народження Лайта, дитинство, першу зустріч із злим алхіміком і жорстокість імперіалістичної державної машини. Друга арка «Повелитель шторму» (2 альбоми), яку малював Джуліо Зелоні, переносить нас у доросліший вік, де гг намагається навчитися керувати своїми силами та протистояти антагоністам.
Сильною стороною мальопису є світ, малюнок та сюжет, але жахливий сторітелінґ ламає повністю усе. У перших трьох альбомах автор так скаче у відрізках часу, що постійно зупиняєшся і не розумієш, що відбувається. У наступних двох, коли гг підріс манера оповіді покращується, більш плавніша. Але діалоги, на жаль, залишають бажати кращого. Та все ж непогана серія для ознайомлення.

An interesting premise, but we barely get into it. The book introduces many characters and lays a foundation for what will happen, and we explore the beginnings of something they do not yet understand. But it feels like all runway, not yet the start of a story tied together by an unexplored power and some fairly one dimensional characters. Also the cover is deceptive, or at least, that and the copy feels like it explains the larger story and not what's just touched upon here.

Loved the art, aesthetic, and overall story, but the pacing was too inconsistent. Important parts of the story often didn't receive the page space and attention they deserved, rendering some potentially weighty plot points flat and easy to ignore.

Very anti climatic and forgettable like it just doesn’t ever really take off.
