About the author

On a rainy December afternoon in 2011 – out of the blue – the quirky Dede puppets descended on Dietlind Wagner. While she doesn't know why she started to make them, it was instantly clear, the puppets were there to stay. Since then they have travelled the road together and the Dede puppets reflect what is going on in Dietlind's life.The puppets have been finalists in a reputable art award, had solo exhibitions and are used to run stop motion animation workshops.

When Dietlind, a graphic designer and educator with a background in publishing, unexpectedly hit hard times she came up with the idea of the Artist's Survival Cookbook. She values the puppets as an ideal vehicle to express her motto: embrace diversity without sounding missionary.
