Sirat-Un-Nabi (Life of the Prophet) is considered one of the most famous and authentic biographies of the Islamic prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Nomani had only managed to complete the first two volumes when he died in 1914. His loyal disciple Syed Sulaiman Nadvi, who was working with him as his literary assistant on the project, collected his research papers and manuscripts and had them published.

This voluminous book was originally divided into 8 parts. However, different publications have published the book in different volumes. The first part deals with the biography of Islamic prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The second part discusses various aspects of Muhammad' personality and character, his likes and dislikes, and his teachings.

About the author

Shibli Nomani was an islamic scholar from Indian subcontinent during British Raj. He was born at Bindwal in Azamgarh district of present-day Uttar Pradesh.

He is best known for his deeply researched books on Islamic history, including renowned biographies on Islam's holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Omar the Great (RA), and other significant muslims.

While working on his masterwork, Sirat-Un-Nabi (one of the most highly regarded biographies of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Nomani passed away at the age of 57. While he was only able to complete the first two volumes, his disciple, Syed Sulaiman Nadvi, made use of the ample research materials left behind by Nomani and added his own work to complete the remaining five volumes of the work.

In addition to his writing, Nomani was also known for the founding the Shibli National College in 1883 and the Darul Mussanifin in Azamgarh. He further distinguished himself as a poet and versatile scholar in Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Turkish and Urdu.

This magnum opus by Allama Shibli Noumani and Allama Syed Suleman Nadvi is a real asset for the readers and the researchers. With lucid language, the authors have managed to keep the readers' attention intact. The use of details and footnotes is enough to provide the substance and food for thought for the readers.

This seven-volume classic Urdu literature masterpiece covers each and every aspect of the beloved Prophet Mohammad Peace be upon Him. Right from the beginning to the end, this book highlights the most important events of Islamic history.

This book covers all the social, political, religious facades of the Islamic society and provides an indepth knowledge into the teachings of the Prophet, and His practices in line with the Quran, the holy book.

Hz.Muhammed'in peygamberliği ve şahsiyetini Kur'an-ı Kerim ve hadisleri kaynak göstererek anlatan, detaylandıran bir eser. Peygamberimizin sosyal hayatı, insanlara ve doğaya karşı yaklaşımını, aile hayatını önemli olaylarla anlatıyor ve İslamiyet öncesi dönemlerle kıyaslayarak aktarıyor. Kur'an-ı Kerim'deki bazı ayetleri olaylar ışığında anlamanızı sağlaması açısından iyi. Hintli bir yazardan daha doğrusu farklı bir coğrafyadan Hz.Muhammed'i okumak istedim. Önyargı ile başlamıştım açıkçası ama yazarın dili oldukça sadeydi. Bazı ihtilaflı olaylara dair akılcı ve araştırmacı tavrıyla mantıklı açıklamalar getirmiş bu yüzden tavsiye edebilirim. Ancak gösterdiği kaynakları gözden geçirerek, sağlamasını yaparak okumak gerekiyor.

Hz.Muhammed, yalnız kişiler arasındaki davranış ve diyaloğu düzeltmekle kalmamış, çeşitli aile, kabile ve sosyal grupların bir arada barış ve sevgi içinde nasıl yaşayabileceklerini de onlara öğretmiş ve bu çabasını en üst seviyeye ulaştırarak o zamana kadar kimsenin teşebbüs edemediği bir işi, dünyanın çeşitli dinleri arasında barışın nasıl sağlanacağını tüm insanlığa göstermiştir.

The thing is that Shibli is not the only one or the first one to write a book on Seerah and even he is one of the last to join this club but the quality of research, the amount of info he put in his book is just marvellous. He has summed up a history of almost 3000 years in his book. From Bible to the 20th century, you'll see the author pick very little details from all parts and put in his book. Not only he has critically analysed the muslim historians and his works but he also has cleared many misconceptions of Muslim and European authors about Seerah. A must read book if you want to give a look to the life of Prophet Muhammad no matter what religion you belong to.

Amazing book, covers every event occurred in the time Muhammad SAW. Strongly recommend to everyone. Although this is a thick book but this book justifies it's length. I compared this book with "Seerat e Mustafah by Idrees Kandhelvi", both books made me satisfied.
