You know what they say about best-laid plans…

After a disastrous thirty-first birthday party where she gets stood-up by a man she isn’t supposed to be dating, Peri McKenna decides it’s time to change what hasn’t been working—which is pretty much everything. Her love life is going nowhere fast, she’s bored to tears by a job that makes her the office pariah, and t

I became an instant fan of Cat Lavoie’s when I read her first book, Breaking the Rules, and am like a kid on Christmas morning whenever she has a new release. Peri in Progress is the best gift the author could have given her readers! Funny, poignant, and swooningly romantic, I enjoyed every word and was sorry when the book was over. Sequel please!

Peri McKenna is a very relatable heroine in that she’s far from perfect and is in dire need of a life makeover when the story opens. We’ve

Peri was wonderful, she made me laugh constantly. I loved her relationship with food, or the lack of it, her job as a Quality Control manager to waitress to her final job (spoilers!) was all done very well. The romance was clean and the book was good fun, but there were quite a few things that were not fully explored

One, her relationship with her BFF Elsa (she was always there, but the conflict and her past is touched upon or glossed over, with not enough details) Secondly, her relat

Boy this story was filled with ups and downs! One minute I was filled with joy and the next I was in shock and a little sad to say the least.
Peri McKenna has not had the greatest of life experiences as of lately and she is starting to think she really needs to re-evaluate her life and what is important her.
Peri is secretly seeing this boy names Declan (let me just say that nothing good comes from seeing someone in secret!) and he basically denied being involved when she decided it wa

On her 31st birthday, Peri decides that she needs to make some big changes in her life. Some things haven't been working out the way she thinks they should be. She comes up with a list of things she wants to change. Things certainly do change and not in the ways you would expect.

I found myself rooting for Peri and hoping she would succeed in making the changes she wanted to. I think most of us would relate to her because at some point or another we've decided that we need to make some improveme

Cat Lavoie is one of those authors who I've come to rely on for producing well-written, engaging Chick Lit reads. Her latest book, Peri in Progress, was thoroughly enjoyable - the type of story that offered a great escape at the end of a long day. I loved visiting with Peri as she worked through her career, home, and romantic dilemmas with the help of her best friend, who's working out a few of her own dilemmas at the same time. Peri in Progress is warm, funny, and has just the right amount of r ...more

This is a fun, fast read by Ms. Lavoie.

We meet Peri McKenna on her thirty first birthday, and though she survived turning thirty, is barely surviving turning thirty-one. As a result of a rather underwhelming year in her life, Peri decides it is time for epic changes. EPIC. As she sets the changes in motion she soon discovers the fall-out of some of her decisions. With no choice but to proceed, Peri continues to sweep the cobwebs out of her life, and for that I truly loved her. She do

It's only January, but I'm predicting that 'Peri in Progress' is going to be one of my favorite books of the year. Author Cat Lavoie rather masterfully combined my three favorite genres (women's fiction, chick lit, and romance) into one story. The supporting cast of characters was charming, it was easy to like Peri and want to cheer her on, and the ending came just too darn soon. This is an all-around lovely book.

True to Cat Lavoie form, this is a lovely and witty fast-paced read. Peri, the main character, was totally relatable and her live interest was swoon-worthy. Filled with a variety of quirky and funny secondary characters. This is a great read for lovers of chick lit.

Disclaimer: I beta-read a version of this book at the author's request. (And I loved every second of it.)

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Peri is a very relatable heroine (not only because of her homeownership experiences I understand all too well :-p). What I really like about her journey is that she indeed makes progress throughout the story, and even if her life doesn't quite turn out how she envisioned it in the beginning, I feel it's truly a happy ending for this story.

Milo is not a perfect romance hero, and I love him all the more for it.

Elsa is a terrific best friend, even if she's dealing

Man, I love a good self-improvement story. This book ticked all the right boxes for me: fun, down-to-earth heroine, realistic and supportive female friendships, and a will they/won’t they romance that is actually based on great romantic chemistry AND genuine friendship. Plus, how great is it that the main character actually has regular, every day jobs, like working in a call center or waiting tables? Having worked in both of these fields, I loved all specific references to the respective job cul ...more

If you are looking to read a thoroughly enjoyable chick lit tale on a cold winter's day, then look no further, Peri In Progress by author Cat Lavoie is the book for you!

When Peri McKenna turns thirty-one, she realizes that it is time to take control and make some changes in her life, a time for a new and improved Peri! Seriously, who hasn't wanted a do over at some point in their life! So Peri makes a list of changes she wants to make: eat healthier and cut out junk food, get more ex
I started “Peri in Progress” in late 2015, and while this book is a quick-moving one, the times in my busy schedule I found time to pick it up–even for just a chapter or two–it was very enjoyable! Thankfully, I finished it, making it my first completed read this year, (“Peri in Progress” will definitely be on my favorite reads of 2016!).

Right away, I fell in love with Peri! She knows she’s got issues–her childhood is falling apart, she’s a little overweight, and her relationship isn’

Poor, poor Peri. First stood up by a guy she secretly makes out with at work and now she's stuck with a huge crush on her neighbor... who happens to be her best friend's brother. Her roof leaks, her junk food habit is out of control and her job is less than great. Honestly, what else can happen?

After trying to get her relationship out in the open with Declan, her work hook up, she is sentenced to three weeks suspension from her job. Her best friend's brother is in town opening up the

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. We meet Peri on her 31st birthday. She decides to make some changes to her life. Peri has many things going on, her childhood home that she bought, is falling apart. Her boring job and her secret relationship with a co worker. She decides that one of the first changes is to tell her boss about her relationship. This doesn't exactly go to plan and she ends up taking forced leave from her job. Her best friend Elsa is so funny and at times annoy ...more

Cat Lavoie had my attention from the very first page. Again! I have read all her books and I can definitively tell you that each one was an absolute pleasure to read. In Ms. Lavoie's latest novel, we meet Peri on what should be a happy occasion -- her birthday. However, the night takes her to the darkest of places since her life is nowhere near where she would like it to be. In the cold light of day, she takes a look at her crumbling house, uncertain career, addiction to junk food and penchant f ...more

I was looking forward to reading this as i liked the sound of it. This follows the lovely Peri who decides its time to make changes in her life. Peri is having a secret relationship with Declan her co worker and decides to tell the boss about their relationship. Declan denys any knowledge and Peri is forced on leave. Life never runs smoothly for Peri and when she starts a relationship with Milo, Peri's best friends brother and new co worker things quickly become complicated. I felt i was in this

Author Cat Lavoie has done it again and when I say "it" I mean she wrote a heartfelt, humorous, and difficult to put down chick lit novel. Like Roxy and Zoey before her, main character Peri is a protagonist ripe for character development and develop she does - from her taste in food (and men), finding her passion in career (and men), and learning to stand up for herself. The road was not without bumps, but I love a book packed with conflict. Another thing in common with all of the author's books ...more

Another lovely offering of light-hearted escapism from Ms. Lavoie.

Peri attracts our immediate, heartfelt sympathy for her initial work humiliation, and her subsequent journey is a pleasure to follow. The walk-on part for Zoe from Lavoie's second novel added a nice touch. And I did enjoy the theme of life being a work in progress, instead of something we conquer outright.

Looking forward to the next book from this author.

Terrific Story

This is the third book I have read from this author and quite possibly my favorite. Peri is indeed a work in progress: she is also memorable, quirky, fun and totally authentic. The writing was tight and the storyline kept me completely engaged. I thoroughly recommend Peri in Progress!!

Cat Lavoie is a chick lit writer from Montreal, Canada.

She loves writing fun and quirky romantic comedies and is the author of BREAKING THE RULES, ZOEY & THE MOMENT OF ZEN, PERI IN PROGRESS and MESSING WITH MATILDA.

A fan of all things feline, Cat loves cats and hopes to someday have a house full of them in order to officially become a crazy cat lady. (But one or two cats wil
