Episodic leveled reader. Boring. Sorry.

Heart of the story is in the right place but presentation is dull and disjointed. I think it would be frustrating for an emerging reader. I love Lillian Hoban's illustrations in the Frances books but they weren't enough here to elevate the text. I'm very grateful that more and better easy reader books (and books to help children navigate the feelings surrounding a move) have come along in the years since this 1976 offering.

I liked that the text was mostly very simple for emerging readers and I liked the simple story. I generally have liked Lilian Hoban's artwork in other books; in this book it seemed kind of faded (or was that the result of the digitizing of the book?) I am also so used to full color in beginning readers, that the black-and-white illustrations in this book seemed wan. However, Hoban did adeptly capture the expressions on people's faces.
