I followed an impulse to read a biography about Eleanor, and I'm glad I did; the information was a great primer on American politics in the 30's through early 60's. She was a remarkable woman, and over the days I've been reading I've been thinking hard about how to infuse her work ethic, determination, guts and stamina into my own life. How remarkable that one person could do so much good.

The book itself is not an easy or smooth read. I chose it for all the photographs, and because it was written by a friend of hers. The writing is not compelling, and it takes for granted that certain events and personages are already known to the reader.

A follow up read after No Ordinary Time in which Joseph Lash was mentioned as close friend of Eleanor Roosevelt's and the person designated by her as her official biographer. An interesting persepective with many pictures. The more i read about ER, the more i respect and admire her.
