3 Spanking Stars

*Some Spoilers*

Good God in Heaven this book has a ton of spanking in it. Hard core spanking. I thought the book was a pretty good read. Thought the Story plot was good, easy to follow. I liked Lara and Blade both equally. I felt they had great chemistry together. Loved the Rebel uprising theme. Lara was smart, sweet, and strong willed. Blade was dominant, super kick ass, but he had a sweet side. I really only had one problem with the book that I just didn't really care for. That was the amount of spankings in this book, severity, and reasons behind the spanking.

 photo spank_zpsp3p3hdgo.jpg

See I am totally okay with consensual spankings for pleasure. I have read a lot of books with consensual spanking, caning, whipping, belting, and other forms of BDSM, but that was in a trusting relationship with both parties agreeing and with a safe word. In this book on Blade's planet, husbands punish their wives. See I have a problem with that. All through the book Blade spanks Lara as a punishment and not just 5, 10, or even 20 swats. He does over 30 each time. And he was spanking her a lot in this book. Like every time she turned around. Within the first hour of Kidnapping Lara, he just grabs her up and spanks her for trying to run from him. Hello you kidnapped her of course she is gonna run!! Almost every time he spanks her she begs him to stop and he just keeps spanking her. He uses his hand, belt, and canes her. I don't feel like that is BDSM I felt it was skirting the line of abuse, for me anyways. Don't get me wrong there was some consensual spanking for pleasure, later in the book ,when they got together as a couple, and that part was pretty damn hot. Putting the spanking/punishment part aside this book was a cute quick read with a very sweet HEA. I would read more books from this author and I kinda hope she writes a book for Lara's friend Dasha.

If you are easily offended and don't like reading books with disciplinary spanking and anal then stay away from this book and this review.

I was in the mood for a spanking read and this definitely scratched that itch. As a sci-fi book the world building flowed easily and I wanted to read more of it. I wanted more back story on the different races that popped up. More details on how they came about and so on. In general it was a quick read that could easily expand more and still be entertaining.

This was heavy on the disciplinary spanking, if you don't like the disciplinary part of the spanking you should skip this as it happens frequently. It's excused and explained but sometimes it felt like the author needed to fill a scene so created an excuse for Blade to use his "Hand of Vengeance".

Blade is a rebel hero, hardened by war and experience. Lara is a doctor, compelled by her need to help others by any means necessary to save their lives. They made for an explosive combination. Lara was very drawn to Blade from the beginning and their relationship is forged as they are running for their lives in a jungle.

If you like sci-fi erotica you should definitely give it a try. It deserves a spot on that shelf.

OK, I read the blurb and it said spanking was in this book. After reading, I think it should be stated that's about 80% OF this book. Now grant it, every body loves a little rough touch (right?right?!). I even enjoy reading about it. But when it becomes a crutch to move the story along, it starts to bore me. I stopped my spank count at 4 and 22% into the book. And then when I finished when I saw the clever title again, The HAND of Vengeance, I had a nice little laugh. Touche', Ms. Rose. Now spanking aside, the story was actual really good. The characters and story line were intriguing. With a space romance, you have to worry about going into too much detail about everything. The backstory was not overwhelming and was interesting to read. I'd say, cut out THREE spanking scenes and substitute with actual conversation/reasonable story and the story would be golden.

I meant to write a review on this after I read it, but got distracted.
First off - I really enjoyed this. Though some of the set ups were a bit cliche, they were well done cliches and I liked them :)
The strong and disturbed Alpha with a hidden heart of gold? Check - But boy did I like him!
The independent woman in peril and rescued by said Alpha? Check - Her inner conflict and turmoil felt very real!
A misunderstanding that almost drives our couple apart? Check - It was a good one!
The culture and politics played a very real and solid role in the story - they really added to it and gave me lots of action and peril (I love peril!) to just pull me through the book.
The sex was smoking and the spanking was used - for me at least - very uniquely and an integral part of the story and culture.
I was seriously connected to the MCs, some of the strongest character development I've read in a while. The only reason this isn't 5 stars for me is the number of times things felt just a bit too cheesy for me. And honestly, on retrospect, they didn't bother me that much, so I'd bump this up to 4.5 and will round accordingly. But be warned, it has it's cheesy moments. It is a space age spanking story, what did you expect?

Another really good spanking story by Renee Rose, but this time in a sci-fi setting on another planet called Jesel where Dr. Lara Simmons travels to on a humanitarian mission to help the people. A revolution is currently happening on the planet and while performing surgery she is taken prisoner by rebel forces to help an important member of the rebellion. Their airship is fired upon and goes down in the wilderness. It is up to Blade Vengeance to get the sassy doctor out of the wilderness and get her to his rebel camp to save their leader while keeping her safe. Of course, feisty Dr. Lara tries to escape.

Jesel is a world that humans colonized to get away from the pollution of Earth. With the abundance of the natural resources and the beauty of the new planet the humans that live on Jesel lived simple lives and the culture became a throwback to times of old where the males were dominant and hunted and the females took care of the home. In this society the punishment for female disobedience was spanking. With Lara being as independent as she is it is not surprising that she gets spanked. There is a lot of spanking in this book, but boy does Blade do it so well!

Though I do like BDSM books I never really thought too much of the spanking parts, but I really enjoy how Renee writes her stories. I would love it if more of Ms. Rose's books were published via Kindle Unlimited then I would totally read them all!

Despite the title sounding very ominous, this actually had me melting over how sweet the love was in this story. This story is about intergalactic worlds in war and takes place on the planet Jesel. The Hand of Vengeance is what Blade, the Hero, is known as and is a Jeselian. He started his life out as a slave and is now part of the rebel group trying to free his people and take back their planet.

Blade kidnaps Lara, a young doctor assisting the enemy, to help with their leader. Years of trauma with the war and witnessing his families demise has made him a cold, dominant, alpha male. At first all he wants is to protect Lara so she can help heal their leader but the more time he spends with her the more he treats her as if she is his woman, going so far as punishing her when she puts herself in danger. Lara is very confused by this, she is a strong, independent woman and she is at first angry when he spanks her for disobeying but also enjoys his dominance over her.

Now normally the whole spanking as discipline seems silly to me. It's not something I like to read in my stories, but this is the second book I have read by this author and I actually don't care about how much the author focuses on this. Her love stories are just that good! She has a way of really showing how much the Hero loves and cares for the heroine. I actually got a little weepy in this book at one point! I will definitely be reading more from this author.

I haven't yet read any books that are sci-fi and BDSM based in the same book. I was surprised I loved this! I'd almost give it a 4.5 stars because the erotic scenes in this are most definitely erotic without leaving me feeling awkward or like anything went too far. The characters were both likeable and I felt both their emotions. I cannot give this five stars dope to personal reasons, which include the cover (I picked this for the blurb and genre) and the fact there are words (manhood and another I forgot) that I cannot stand and are an instant turn off for me. Other than that, it was fun, fast and a holy erotic read. The spanking gets more intense each time, and I really liked it.

Great story

Love this story. Lara is a doctor who visits war-torn planets to treat those in need. She's currently on Jesel, where there's a civil war and had a massive earthquake, so there are lots of people who need her.

Blade, the Hand of Vengeance, comes to kidnap her because there is a VIP who needs her help. When she tries to escape, he spanks her.

I love reading Renee Rose stories, and this is a good one. Interesting to see how her writing has changed from them to now.

While this wasn’t my favourite Renee Rose book, once again she delivered a great, erotic read.

I must say, one of my biggest issues with this book is how Blade is described by the author in the first chapter when Lara is being taken. She writes him as almost to scary looking not as a strong, sexy as as shit, baddie alpha warrior. He’s to rough around edges, (which of course we learn he has a sweet side), making it hard to find him attractive from the start. It takes away from the fantasy. Other than that, it’s a great story, and you can’t help but love Blade and Lara together.

BODY, HEART AND SOUL
I loved this excellent Sci-Fi Intergalactic erotic romance. Dr. Lara Simmons is a Samaritan from Earth and has gone to war-torn Jesel which was also hit with a devastating earthquake to treat the injured. In 2560 Earth, men and women are equals, but on Jesel, men dominate and women are submissive and under the rule of man. Blade Vengeance, an enormous tattooed Jesel rebel warrior, expects obedience and will punish Lara if she disobeys, after all, he is just trying to keep her alive and safe and get her to his encampment to treat a very important leader. Lara and Blade butt heads and go into a personal battle of wills, but he always wins. He sees that Lara is naturally submissive and responds to his discipline. Their relationship is a steamy erotic battle that in the end, they are both winners. Disclosure: I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. When I saw that Renee Rose had written an erotic sci/fi with spanking, I grabbed it immediately and I'm not in the least bit sorry. The only down side is wondering if there will be a sequel (Dasha would make a great heroine *hint, hint*), and then waiting for it. There is enough world building in this story to make it interesting, and plenty of space for further stories.

I liked both Lara and Blade and enjoyed reading about their developing relationship. On the surface they are polar opposites, Lara coming from a high tech society and scientific background, Blade from a society that reveres nature and living in harmony with the land. I appreciated that Lara was neither stupid or a doormat and the reasons for her punishment were reasonable. I would have liked a bit more information about post rebellion life on Jesel... but this is where those possible sequels would come in handy.

So, Renee, what about Dasha and Bailey? *hint, hint* ;-)

Don't let the cover fool you! Give this one a chance.
- Writing is good!
- Hero, Blade, reminds me of Lahn from The Golden Dynasty.
- You have to be ok with spanking/corporal/alpha male dominance to like this. Some will call this abuse, other will say this story is supposed to be read with a "this is fantasy/fiction" frame of mind. To each their own.
- Heroine is not a doormat (well, not 100%). She "falls in line" pretty quickly and is submissive, but still has a backbone

Overall, it was a fast, enjoyable read.

This was a one sitting read for me. I loved it. It's easy to lose yourself in this story and not want to come up for air. There's action, hotness, and enough emotion to have you tearing up at places. Lara is the perfect strong, intelligent heroine. And Blade is the quintessential alpha hero, who I was in love with before I even knew he was the hero. Fantastic, super scorching sci-fi!

Rebels fighting to win back their planet. Blade kidnaps Dr. Lara to have her save the life of the rebel president. What happens between them was never expected. Lara just wants to save and heal people. But Blade changes everything. Including her view on "spankings". Can some dominance from him change her and does she want it to?

Dominant warrior fighting for his planet’s freedom & hot human doctor trying to save everyone she can - highly recommend

I wish that this was a series, as I think it has potential for others. It is a fast-paced, action packed story.

This story contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as kidnapping / abduction, fighting some to the death, dominance / submission, spanking for pleasure and punishment, restraints, and elements of consensual / non-consensual acts.

If any of these are not for you, please do not purchase and then rate it lower than it deserves.

Renee Rose built s strong universe for the story to take place in, with interesting characters and a strong story line. The only thing I think I would have enjoyed is more detail at the end (sorry can’t list it, as I don’t want to spoil it for you), since there was all of this detail building up to it.

Here is a high level overview of how the story begins:

Lara is a surgeon from earth working on the planet of Jesel to help their people injured by a major earthquake. She is part of a Samaritan group that goes where needed in the galaxy and aides people as a neutral party.

Lara is kidnapped / abducted by the “Hand of Vengeance”, a former slave that worked in the diamond mines. He is big, dominant in a way that males on earth are not anymore, and makes her aware of a male for the first time. Blade informs her that her skills are needed, but doesn’t tell her in what way, just for someone important to the rebellion.

A few miles after they begin to make their way to the rebellion’s camp, they are hit and their aircraft is going down ...

I am going to stop here so I don’t accidentally provide any spoilers.

Blade had freed so many, still in hiding he fought for their liberty
Blade could never have envisioned that the tiny earth woman Lara who he had been sent to recover for her excellent surgical skills, she was a doctor or high esteem who worked in areas of most need, in war zones she was a bundle of trouble and he had to get her safely to Jesel, the rebellion cause is holding its breath in hope she will be able to help.
From the moment she had first seen the giant warrior she had been strangely drawn to him, he stood for no nonsense or putting herself in danger and as a Jeselian male he deals with her disobedience over the knee with his hand, Lara has never experienced this before but she finds it to be quite erotic and also cathartic.
After a perilous journey Lara is thrown into the deep end with a many wounded an extremely dangerous operation on the future leader and also fixing Blades badly injured foot all without any type of anaesthetic, she has to find all manner of remedies to keep her patients alive.
This was a totally captivating read the warrior Blade was so Alpha Male it was almost impossible not to let your imagination go totally awry and then there Lara what a totally inspirational character all five-foot-three was totally one hundred per cent healing and helping anyone no matter their politics or their sex it was such a great plot and the characters were, Wow! Simply amazing……
I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Lara is a doctor with an organization that helps provide medical care to disadvantaged groups throughout the galaxy. Blade is an alpha warrior that used to be a slave until he helped lead an uprising. He is now fighting to restore democracy to his home planet.

I went into this fully knowing what Ms. Rose BDSM books are like. But this did seem a bit much. However, I didn’t factor that into my rating otherwise, it would have gotten a lower score. I did leave some thoughts and snarky comments in my notes and highlights. The chemistry between the two main characters is undeniable, even when he’s caning her (go figure). You can tell when he realizes he has feelings for her that he never intended. Of course, he’s too entrenched in a culture of domination and submission to really change. Lara herself is surprised by her feelings towards Blade and indeed his punishments as well. Spankings aside, these two definitely seem made for each other.

As usual Ms. Rose’s storytelling is very interesting. Clearly, as I continue to read her books even though The BDSM scenes are not my thing. I do recommend this book if you either are not bothered by BDSM scenes or you can ignore it. I just wish she had written a book about Lara’s friend Dasha.

~ Another wonderful & wholly engaging story from this author! ~

Blade Vengeance was a slave-turned-rebel hero, single-mindedly trying to right the wrongs stemming from a traumatic experience in his past involving a loved one. His latest mission was to bring back renowned human surgeon Dr. Lara Simmons so that she may save their rebellion’s leader. But she did not come willingly, something he took great pleasure in correcting as many times as necessary, though, as was the nature of the males on his more primitive planet. Both get drawn in further to each other, but a major coup was looming with way too much at stake. Vengeance puts the safety of Lara first and foremost, and therefore they get their wires crossed. Hopefully, it will not be too late for Vengeance to tell his little human what she has come to mean to him.

Their connection became deep and touching, well developed alongside Vengeance’s involvement and purpose with the slave rebellion.

I love Renee Rose's quirky, engaging characters and Blade and Lara are no exception. Their union under the adverse circumstances of a rebellion on Blade's homeworld is clearly fated, but that same rebellion keeps them apart in ways that really tore at my heart.
The worldbuilding of this futuristic romance was well-developed and I liked the juxtaposition of the different cultures and races: Earth, Jesel and Varu. This is on the gritty/action-adventure side of scifi, but I think scifi readers will find a lot to love here, as well as more traditional romance readers who like an alpha hero and a wonderful HEA.
I always appreciate that this author's works don't end in cliffhangers. This is a complete, stand-alone story that is wonderfully satisfying to read.
On to the Zandar series!

This wonderful read provides an enticing blend of heat and heart. Lara and Blade have amazing chemistry and I just loved them together. Blade is an amazing character. With a complex and painful past that has shaped him into the warrior he is today. Let me just say that he is completely swoon worthy! Lara is smart and fierce. She was more than capable of standing toe-to-toe or back-to-back with Blade. Add in drama, action, danger, adventure and some suspense and you have an entertaining and enjoyable read. This book does contain power exchange, D/s and spankings, so if this bothers you this is not the book for you. This is my honest, voluntary review.

The book is fast pace, full of action and highly erotic. Blade is on a mission to retrieve Dr. Lara Simmons and bring her back to the rebel stronghold to treat the rebel leader Sheel Black, who is the deposed president. After being shot down, he uses all of his remarkable skills to keep them alive and get back to their leader. Along the way he uses corporal discipline, spanking, to enforce his instructions on Lara when she disobeys and puts them in danger. There is a HEA for them but a lot happens first. This is a great book to read and I would definitely recommend it as a great read.

I liked Blade and Lara. They had great chemistry. Although here seemed to be a spanking scene at very turn, and after the first anal scene, that seemed to be a theme also, it was still a good story.

The absolute BEST part of this book for me was Blade's fighting scene at the compound. The dude was awesome! There was some tension around Dog's situation.

The storyline was pretty good, and the medical treatments were interesting. Blade didn't believe he deserved to be happy and Lara had every intention of returning to Earth. Everyone got their HEA in the end.

Great writing and story! One of the best I’ve read in this genre.

Enjoyed this book because the writer drew me into to the story from the first pages. There was so much depth in the characters, the surroundings and the plot that made this book stand out from so many others in this genre. I read it with my Kindle unlimited subscription. This book is a keeper that I will enjoy reading again, so I plan to purchase it for my library. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

Rebel romance

Totally spanking hot. I've read the zandian series and liked it. It's nice to see the planet jesel in a different light. Lara is kidnapped by the rebels for her medical expertise. Blade is her kidnapper, protector and there to punish her when she runs. She is confused when his spankings arouse her.

They are two very different people. Can they create a future together or must they part to stay safe? This is a satisfying, hot read.

This is a cross between adventure, sci-fi, premarital DD, and political thriller with some Doctors without Borders thrown in.
While the taciturn hero speaks very loudly with his hand of vengeance, the heroine, MD from Earth, is at times fearless, at times downright brainless. Two people from different planets, different cultures, different social status, they are polar opposites.
But as the saying goes, opposites attract! And how they attract!!!
Ms Rose does it again!
