On crutches and no longer able to fly jets, Brett is grateful to have come home alive instead of in a box. Though he’s still got his leg, there’s a lot of pain, too so a relative sends him to see the pretty herbalist who helps people with pain and nerve problems. One look at her and Brett wants more than pain relief.
Nikee has a secret room beneath her greenhouse full of po

I read “Grass and Blue Skies” literally in two days and absolutely loved it! I couldn’t put it down. First of all, the characters are extremely well written and I couldn’t help but admire Nikee’s bravery and desire to help people, even though sometimes deep inside she was having doubts about her not so legal activity – growing marijuana for medicinal purposes. But does a technically illegal operation matter that much if the girl is helping her father manage his pain after a bad accident, and als ...more

I always enjoy reading Cherime MacFarlaine's books, but I think this is my favourite so far.

After surviving an accident, Brett's severe pain led him to consider alternative medicine. He was recommended somebody who could give him what he needed and made an appointment to meet with the woman at her farm. When he set eyes on Nikee, it was love at first sight. Nikee felt the same about Brett.

While Brett and Nikee developed a romance, somebody became desperate to find out where his grandmother got

I had read some of Cherime MacFarlane’s short stories, such as A White Cat for Christmas, and didn’t pay attention when I grabbed this, having though it would be a short story. Instead of that I discovered a well-developed full-length novel. As I’ve been busy in took me a few weeks to read the book. I was able to instantly re-connect to the plot and characters and enjoy the sections I read, even though there were long breaks between reading chapters.

An action-packed romance that does not shy away from some challenging and thought provoking issues.

The realism of this book made it a compelling page-turner. I took to both Brett and Nikee straight away. Nikee will do anything to keep her Dad's terminal illness at bay, and if that means growing marijuana to ease his pain and slow down the progression of his disease then so be it. Her compassion to help people lands her in a whole bunch of trouble. But she is determined to carry on despite the ri

A well crafted story, authentic in feel and dialogue, lively with drama and romance.
I enjoyed how the author handled the subject of medical marijuana, sensitive as well as serving as a useful plot device.
The chemistry is working well and the flow is right too. An enjoyable read.

Although born in New Orleans, I am proud to call myself an Alaskan. I have lived here for 37 years, I have lived through -40 degrees, hauled water, made bear bacon and live in a cabin. I have used a fish wheel to catch salmon coming up the Copper River. I was my second husband's chief mechanic's helper and only roadie. I have cut firewood on shares, worked as a cocktail waitress, then as a paraleg ...more
