Dive into the secret, ancient, powerful world of two New Orleans families, the Deschanels and the Sullivans…
Quillan Sullivan lost his twin brother two decades ago, a tragedy he never fully experienced due to his unusual ability to see and talk to Riley when no one else can. He believes this "gift" is a fluke, until the haughty, vainglorious love of his life, Estella, returns after several years abroad, and rips his world apart.
Estella Broussard loathes Quillan. He's the last person on Earth she'd ever bless with her presence. To her great dismay, he alone holds the key to achieving her deepest desire. She will do anything to reach her aims, no matter the warnings... no matter the cost to Quillan.
Nerys guides Finn and Aleksandr on their mission to find Anasofiya and bring her home. Finn accepts her help, on the condition she keep no secrets. She relays what she knows... all except the visions her old companion has sent her, regarding a terrifying menace to the Deschanels back home: A necromancer has emerged, and this ominous knowledge has fallen into the wrong hands.
The threads of fate weave the Deschanels and Sullivans down perilous paths, as a centuries-old warning emerges: Seduction to sinners. A legacy in splinters. Beware, the myths of midwinter.

“Remember the warning, with the fervor of faith: Seduction to sinner. A legacy in splinters. Beware the myths of midwinter”
By now those who follow my reviews are well aware of my gushing effusiveness over this series. I can honestly say I've never come across a such a unique blend of paranormal, occult, and fantasy, mixed with all manner of family drama and suspense. This series is one that may leave a character hanging in the balance, but doesn't necessarily have to pick up where it left off in the next book, which under ordinary circumstances might leave readers feeling frustrated , but fans of HOC&C know to be patient and that good things come to those that wait…
While Ana's fate is still in question, Finn is hard at work finding a way to save his wife. In the meantime he learns more about his own gifts and how he can use those gifts to reunite himself with Ana and for the sake of his son and the prophesy.
But, the main story here doesn't center on that particular situation as much as it does on some characters we've met briefly in previous installments. This was a wicked story, full of white knuckle suspense, some morally bankrupt characters, with a very heavy, dark, atmosphere that gave me the shivers a time or two.
This book is definitely intended for those who have kept up the series up to this point, so it's safe to say, that all that occurs here is part of a bigger picture. I can't wait to see what happens next, which is the beauty of this series. It's always fresh, always rich in details and atmosphere, sharp dialogue, and pushes the reader toward vivid imagery and challenges our perceptions.
As always this story is well written, complex, and utterly absorbing.
This is the latest in a fantastic series of unbelievable and fleshed out characters! Get ready to have your emotions played with once again.
Finn! I have so many feels when it comes to Finn. I have been loving on Finn for a bit now and to see the continuation of his journey is always one that hits you right in the heart.
But the heart of this story is about Quillan and Estella. I gotta be honest, I wanted to kill Quillan at times. Honestly, this dude was one of the most frustrating characters in a book I have come across. But I have to admit Estella is fantastic! I love love love her!
There are a few other characters that I love as well, like Lauren! This world is getting bigger and more intense as we go along. I am starting to wonder what it is all leading to! I am super excited to find out!
I am not one to do spoilers, because why would you buy the book and read it then? But I will give you a couple things to look out for.
One: You have to read the series in order or you WILL be lost. Two: It is written in such a way that you bounce between character POV's Three: It's flippin awesome so go get it already!

Lauren Weatherly is given the task of supervising Quillan Sullivan’s work, or rather the lack of it, at Sullivan and Associates, the family’s law firm. Quillan doesn’t want to waste time working when he can spend it enjoying himself. Although he doesn’t yet realise it, Quillan has a rare gift which, coupled with his feelings for Estella Broussard, who loathes him but will use him for her own ends, land him in serious danger.
At Ophélie there is a search party looking for the missing refugee children, Nicolas needs to take Mercy to Colleen in New Orleans and Finn is desperate to find Ana. Together with Aleksandr, Nerys, Anne, his brother Jon and of course, Forbia Finn begins the long and dangerous journey to rescue Anasofiya. Finn has not yet forgiven Jon and is against his involvement. Although Nerys is keeping a secret despite her promise to Finn, she explains to him that Aleksei is the son of the prophecy and his birth was foretold thousands of years ago.
Continuing the saga of the House of Crimson and Clover this is definitely not a stand alone read. The story is told from various points of view and even being one who has followed from the beginning, it took me a little while to bring to mind all the previous plot lines and settle into this instalment. When I did though, it drew me in completely and the multiple storylines blended together nicely. I’m glad Jon has reappeared and seems to want to make amends. I loved the inclusion of Riley, Quillan’s twin, and their interaction and relationship. The paranormal aspect is always in evident in some form, but the elements go that much deeper and more sinister in this story.
The attention to detail, complexity and obviously deep research is impressive to say the least. The story is extremely imaginative and innovative and I always enjoy the mythology references. Wonderful storytelling and a blockbuster of a series.
How this author keeps up with all these fascinating, charming, aggravating, annoying, and likable characters is a mystery to me, and yet, in this book, we meet even more new characters and some who may have been only briefly mentioned in other books.
I always enjoy this author's alternating POVs that give the reader a broader perspective of the story, but my favorites were probably Quillan and Finn. Quillan Sullivan is one exasperating character and I wanted to throttle him numerous times, but he's also very charismatic and only just beginning to learn things about himself. I think there's much in store for Quillan in books to come. Finn has experienced his share of both heartache and happiness and I was anxious to see what would happen in his journey but, like Quillan, I suspect Finn will be a large part of the next book.
I continue to be mesmerized by the massive scope of this series and how all the storylines are interwoven. This book feels like the author is putting things in place for the escalation to come - and I can't wait to see what happens next.
This review is based on a digital ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I am speechless. What can you say about a book that keeps on amazing you, without giving away spoilers? When i put my kindle down, i want to pick it straight back up to get to the bottom of all the craziness. It is seriously mind boggling. Sarah has one amazingly creative imagination and the way she writes is pure gold. The twists and turns in this series, its quite frankly incredible. Every single page has one aspect that keeps your mind reeling. All i know is that i an eager to get to the bottom of this and i do not think my mind will settle until it all comes together. Will they ever truely know peace? Just wow
Myths of Midwinter is Book 6 in The House of Crimson & Clover Series and is not a standalone. I strongly advise reading/listening to the previous books first. With a great storyline and fascinating characters, this series just might be my latest addiction. Consider me hooked! LC Kane as narrator is very engaging and is a perfect match for this audiobook. Myths of Midwinter was a great listening experience and I would definitely recommend it.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is my honest opinion.
A whole bunch of new Deschanels introduced in this installment , AND we finally discover the secret of “the curse.” The main characters from previous novels seem to be MIA, although they are referenced often. If you've been wondering about Katja and the twins, many of your questions will now be answered.
I don't like to spoil anything, so I'll just say that this book helps to clarify past events and people while laying the foundation for the future. It's not a cliff-hanger, but I can't wait to read what happens next!
I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Sarah introduces a lot of new key characters in this book. The pieces of the puzzle are coming together wonderfully as we come to realize the true curse of the Deschanels and what it means. Finn and his comrades go on a quest to find the love of his life Ana, and bring her home. As many questions are answered, I find Myths of Midwinter one of the best in the series!
* I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *
I have read each and every one of author Sarah M. Cradit's Crimson & Clover books and novella's and with each one I fall in love with the Sullivan's, Deschanel's and even the Broussard's a tiny bit more. This story surely didn't disappoint in any way! Each book becomes more pulse stopping, more drama filled and intensely more intricate in the inter-weavings of the families. These books would be best read in order so that you are up to date on the current happenings in all of the key player's lives. (see the end of the review for the list)
With that out of the way - I am still on the edge of my seat wondering if Anasofia and Finn will re-unite, if Oz will move on, if Jonathan will find happiness, if Nic is able to move on with Mercy, what will happen?!?! After spending so much time with these characters they literally become a part of you and your life! You feel a compelling need to know what has happened to them and what may still come next! The author weaves a tale filled with mystery that leaves the reader breathless as they frantically turn the pages to see what may happen next! I know that each book brings another mystery to light and I hope that the books never stop, as these characters are a part of my life!
The quote that the author uses: “Remember the warning, with the fervor of faith: Seduction to sinner. A legacy in splinters. Beware the myths of midwinter” - is something that the reader will understand as they read and unravel some of the forces at work behind the curse!
This book will give us more insight into the life of Quillan Sullivan and his unrequited love Estella. We get to see how love can truly cloud the mind and how it feels to be hurt by the ones we love. I really enjoyed getting to know Quillan and he has moved up on my list of favorites! I also enjoyed reading about Jon and hope that this is the Jon that continues to come out in the next books! One thing is for certain, Author Sarah M. Cradit has more than a few surprises up her sleeves! Make sure you start at the beginning of the series and you won't ever want to stop reading these amazing books! They will have you laughing, crying, yelling and screaming for more! Enjoy!

Myths of Midwinter is part of The House of Crimson and Clover series by Sarah Cradit. It cannot be read as a stand alone novel. In fact, even followers of the series might need to check the family tree, time line and character encyclopedia in the appendix of this book.
Myths of Midwinter is told from multiple points of view. I would say there are three discernible storylines in this book; within each story line there are multiple narrators. At first, it felt a bit choppy, but as I remembered details from prior books, the story started to flow better for me. The plot is evenly paced, and Ms. Cradit has built in a strong sense of foreboding and tension into this installment of her series. The series is very detailed, and Myths of Midwinter increases the complexity of the series dramatically.
The cast of Deschanels and Sullivans in the series continues to expand. In addition to new family members, some previously known family members discover hidden powers and paranormal skills. I loved the addition of Lauren Weatherly; she’s a young attorney working at the Sullivan law offices. I see the potential for another love triangle in the future of The House of Crimson and Clover!
Cradit has masterfully created a fantasy world for her stories to take place. Most of the series to date has taken place in the world as we readers know it, and in it, Cradit has embedded an intriguing mix of paranormal capabilities, the occult, Irish mythology, and history. The details about a couple cemeteries in Louisiana adds a little spark to the touristy cemetery tour hosted by some of the Broussard family. It is clear that Cradit puts a lot of time into researching everything she adds to her stories; the occult artifacts, etc. such as the charms/ruins found by Quillan, and the big-reveal letter found by Estella. Cradit then takes that research and weaves rich dynastic worlds in which her necromancers, starlight awakeners, time shapers and humans interact.

Cradit has taken the C&C series to a whole new level in Myths of Midwinter. In this installment, our attention is diverted from our favorites and take in a new path. While our good friends we have come to love...or hate, are heard from, but only marginally. This time, we are introduced to some new and exciting characters.
We start by meeting Quillan Sullivan, son of Patrick Sullivan, and lawyer at Sullivan and Associates. But he doesn't much like being a Sullivan. let alone a Sullivan lawyer. He would much rather spend his life enjoying his youth, than working and being an adult. To Patrick Sullivan's dismay, Quillan continues to be late, 'forgets' about client meetings and generally sloughs off to his utmost potential.
As we travel through the days of Quillan, we are met by his twin brother, Riley. However, Riley is still 7 years old, and always will be. No one else can see Riley. Not even his best friend, and roommate, Leander, can see Riley. Why? You will have to read. But Riley plays such a huge part of Quillan's life. He continues to warn him, but I am getting ahead of myself.
We are introduced to Leander's sister, and Quillan's love-of-his-life, Estella. When Estella comes home from France, she is hounded and followed around by Quillan. He is absolutely in love with her. Sadly for him, it is unrequited love. She will have nothing to do with him. Up until the Deschanels have an area cleaned out of Ophelie, and the Sullivans are asked to inventory this area.
Quillan comes across an antique-looking box with strange markings on it. He knows Estella is into the studies of all things occult and would love to see this box. As he attains this box through a lesser-than-dignified manner, he rushes it to Estella. Estella being her 'delightfully nice' self, is less than impressed, until she notices some ancient markings that pique her curiosity. She 'accepts' Quillan into her life to study this box and learn more about it. What happens next will blow your socks off!
Estella, through gritted teeth and rolling eyes, accidentally helps Quillan find out who he really is. You didn't think we would not have some paranormal happenings and powers at play, did you? In this book we are introduced into a dark world where ghosts, spirits and darkness play. We are introduced to new powers and some very ancient ones, as Estella is a Deschanel. But that is not where it gets interesting. Oh no, far from it!
Sarah Cradit has taken this series to a whole new, dark level. I am always surprised by the amount of happenings and characters, she thinks up. But NOTHING prepared me for this book! NOTHING! I suggest reading it twice, it is that good! As in all of Cradit's C&C series, make sure you have you have plenty of time to read, as you will NOT be able to put this down! Be prepared to laugh, cry, want to punch someone, and want to hug everyone. Ok just be prepared for an emotional roller coaster!
I voluntarily reviewed this book and I have not been compensated in any way.
You have to read the previous books in the series for this book to be enjoyable and make sense.
Quillan Sullivan lost hi twin brother years ago but he has never been without Riley as he can see and hear him even though no one else can. He thought it was a fluke until Estella Broussard tells him otherwise. Estella seems to despise Quinlan and on her return from time abroad nothing including him is good enough for her but she desperately wants to talk to her late grandmother so has decided to use him. Meanwhile Nerys is guiding Alexsandr and Finn to find Ana to bring her home but they are unaware that there is a grave danger at home for the Deschanels and Sullivans via a Necromancer.
I found this story to be slow to start but it built to give increasing drama and complexity as the story went on. It pulled together a lot of threads in the series which hopefully means it will make your sense later on. It was well written and I understood everything and could feel the emotions being experienced by the characters. Now I just need to read the next one in the series.
**This book was provided by the author to Nerd Girl in exchange for an honest review**
For those who follow my reviews you already know I am going to gush about this book! I can honestly say hands down that this ENTIRE series has not only made its way into my heart, but has made its way to #1 on my all time favorite book series list!!
This time we circle around Quillian Sullivan. A slacking free spirited man in love with Estella. A woman who loathes him, but will use him no matter the cost to her own personal gain. Putting him in extreme danger!! We also come back to MY beloved Ana and Finn! Finn is so desperate to find his wife. With the help of some key point characters he embarks on the journey to find her. Although a secret looming about the Deschanel family back home holds danger to a new level.
So many INCREDIBLE things going on in this installment to the series. I don't know how Sarah Cradit does it! She continues to write a story so unique, complex and captivating. The writing style is amazing and the attention to detail is extraordinary. Not only for the characters (there are so many), but also the the story itself. She intwines so many characters and back stories into one main story. Each book giving more information, action, suspense, mystery and satisfaction than the last. I have not read many series that can do this AND keep the readers attention. Not to mention their interest! I can honestly say I am terrified for this series to end! I will be a basket case when it finally comes full circle and is over. BUT until then... Read on!!
5 stars as always! You have done it again! BRAVO! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SERIES!! So get to reading people!!
******I WON A COPY OF THIS BOOK IN RETURN FOR MY HONEST OPINION******
OK so not that is out of the way.... On to my opinions of the book
Myths of Midwinter is the sixth book in the series. It continues to follow the lives of the Deschanels and its curse. We also get to learn about some new characters and also some that were mentioned in passing. In the beginning of this book we learn about Quillan Sullivan and the Broussard family. It follows Quillan and tells about the struggles that he faces with him hearing Riley and noone else being able too. It also follows the struggle and abuse that he receives from Estella Broussard a female that he has loved for ages and she just doesn't seem to feel the same way, but she has no issues using Quillan to get what she wants. Is Estella really the cold-hearted person that she is portrayed as? or is she just using that demeanor to mask the real person she is?
The then story jumps to the Deschanels and their quest to end the curse. We get to follow the story of Finn,Aleski,Nerys, John, and Anna as they move forward on their quest to find Anasofyia and bring her home and also to fulfill the prophecy that has been laid on their shoulders more namely Aleski's shoulders. In a world of secrets and lies will the Deschanels family survive? Will the prophecy end the curse? or is all doomed to fail? To get the answers to these questions check out this amazing series. Sarah Cradit has managed to grab my attention with this series and she keeps me wanting more.
What an epic book. Please make sure you have read all the previous books leading up to this one. It is a must to understand the complex history leading up to this point. I am so amazed at the author's ability to write. She has written a series that is so soul consuming for me. It is like the characters are alive and I am living through the adventure / curse / tragedy with them. This book brings to light so many unanswered questions. Introduces new elements to the story and simply blew my mind at where the author has taken the story. I am in no way disappointed and am looking forward to the next book in the series. My feelings as I finished the book were all over the place. There is so much information to be processed and so many characters in this book that it is hard to pin point on any one emotion. Over all I am excited to see the family moving forward, ecstatic about the new additions and so very impatient to know what will happen next. Author Sarah M Cradit has a way of writing that is unlike any other author I know. She has become my absolute favorite and I am excited for her and her series. She knows just what to write to bring forth every emotion out there anger, fear, mistrust, loyalty, love, uncertainty and happiness.
This series just keeps getting better and better. I can't believe that Jon is back and wanting to change. He's decided to help Fin, Aleksandr and Anna find Ana and along the way find his self again. Estella Bouussard is back from school in France and looking for a necromancer so she can emass power. Quillan Sullivan is a necromancer but he doesn't know it and he's in love with Estella. She uses him once she finds out what he is and even though she's a royal bitch to him be thinks he can eventually win her love if he does what she wants. Katja thinks she's finally figured out what she needs to do to end the curse. But can she bring herself to do what she believes is necessary to end it all? These stories just keep getting better and better. I'm HOOKED! I read them as fast as Ms Cradit sends them to me and I impatiently wait the next. I'm dying to know what's going on with everyone. Will the curse be broken eventually, can Fin find Ana, is Jon ever going to be normal again? Can the prophecy be fulfilled? I have lots more questions that I hope Sarah will answer eventually. Independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance & Authors That Rock.
Myths of Midwinter is an outstanding addition to the Crimson and Clover series. This author's imagination will take you to places you never dreamed of. I love all the characters. I feel like I'm visiting old friends with every new book. It's amazing how Sarah Cradit can take you down so many different paths in one book. You will have to pay special attention or you might miss something. We meet some new characters in this book that may play a big part in solving the mystery of the curse. Yes, I think we are finally going to find out what is behind the curse and what must be done to stop the deaths in the Deschanel Clan. I'm afraid it's not going to be easy. If you haven't read the previous books in this series, now is the time to start! I haven't read a lot of books in this genre, but Sarah's writing is awe inspiring and the editing is top notch. The Crimson and Clover series could go on forever. I wouldn't be disappointed and you won't either. I have to give this book 5 stars. Once again Sarah M. Cradit has outdone herself!
I have read every single book that Sarah has published and Myths of Midwinter has - unequivocally - blown them all out the water. As a writer of a big cast of characters myself, I know how difficult it is to have 10 million storylines rattling in your head clamoring for attention on the page...and more than that, how difficult it is to bind them together in a manner that others can understand. MoM is the culmination of years of tapestry weaving that can only be understood and enjoyed from the beginning of the series. This book tackles hard topics that very few authors are willing to venture into because honestly, they are too dark or too taboo, but true to her honorary Southern self, Sarah sets her brand of crazy out on the front porch and gives it a mint juleps to sip. Brava, Sarah, for the best book of the House of Crimson and Clover series to date.
*I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
As a whole it was pretty good. Definitely not my favorite. I kept wanting to skip ahead to the parts I'm dying to know more about.
Katja, Olivia and the twins is really hard for me to get into. Add in Leander, Quillan and his weird obsession with Estella...it was a lot but I'm positive that Sarah is just laying the path out for the next journey.
I'm dying to see what is going on with Ana and what she is going through with Agripin. I knew he was too good to be true. Finn's journey is killing me. Lol
Another excellent book from Sarah Cradit following the Deschanel clan and others. This one felt more like a bridge though. It was a complete novel, yet didn't complete the story. I can't wait for the next book to be released. Cradit has a way of using various viewpoints from chapter to chapter that brings parallel stories together - many authors who write in this style have books that feel disjointed, but Cradit creates separate storylines that overlap. While this is certainly not a standalone story, it is definitely another "chapter" in the continuing saga. What will happen next?
I was given an ARC but this review is my own fair and honest review
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I am really loving this series. I happened upon Sarah from a book give-a-way and I have been unable to put down the series. I love how she continues to bring it all together weaving a wonderful tale that is hard to put down. I can't wait to see what happens as the fulfillment of the prophecy approaches. Will Finn find Ana? Will Jacob and Amelia return? What will happen with the twins? Each book just gets better and better. What's next?
This book is a great continuation of the series. There were characters to love and characters to hate, and new characters to intrigue us. I didn't get all the answers I wanted as this focused on more characters not previously in the spotlight, and brought us up to speed on a few other things. As I'm not big on spoilers i will say you don't want to miss this one, but I can hardly wait for the next.
This book continues a fabulous storyline. Building towards a crescendo of these characters who are rich with abilities, love and determination to save their families and right the wrongs. I continue to be pulled into this world of love, pain, fear, leading to, I hope, joy and peace. And so, I wait for the next tale.
Myths of Midwinter is an amazing read. I laughed, cried, got really angry, and rejoiced with the Deschanels and the Sullivans. I can't wait to join them for the remainder of the journey.
Man these books keep getting better and better! I can't wait to read the next two! Some things are finally starting to really make sense. I have got to start reading the next book now!
In the interest of complete honesty, I admit I had considered giving this one 4 stars instead of 5 because a fair bit of it was confusing. But I couldn't do it. It was just too damn good. Even when I was confused I was 100% hooked. There are so many twists and turns and different storylines and characters to follow and I found myself wondering what one thing could possibly have to do with the other but by the end each individual thread had woven themselves together to create a total and complete masterpiece. Definitely buy it and read it. You're gonna love it.
