First Lindsay Cross book I've read (won't be the last), so that means I haven't read the first two in this series (although I do have book 1 on my kindle somewhere). I really enjoyed it but Sparrow was just too nice. I was expecting a couple more rough edges since she was raised by hill people and nasty hill people at that. Jared was one hard ass especially about taking care of his brother, Hoyt. There was lots of action and hot bedroom scenes. Overall a good book

Jared Crowe is out for a personal vendetta. He is back looking into his aunt Kathryn Crowe who tried to kill Jared and his brother Hoyt when they were children and he has never forgotten. They were rescued by a young girl whom he will never forget.

Now Jared is back and out for revenge when his brother has gone missing. Then as Jared is looking for Hoyt he is captured by Sparrow Pickney, the girl who saved him as a boy. But now that they are adults there is more on the line for both of them and m

Jared never understood why his aunt wanted him and his brother dead after their parents died. as an adult he decides to return to his childhood home to get answers and also get revenge – doing so led to a great deal of trouble for him, his brother and Sparrow, the woman who as a child saved them.

Sparrow is a tiny but very strong woman when they meet again and she seems to fall for Jared VERY quickly. At times I felt what happened between the two of them was rather unbelievable BUT it is after al

I just love all the guys in this series!!!!
As usual Lindsay Cross has delivered another great story filled with action, sexiness that is off the charts and gripping emotions. Jared and Sparrow are absolutely great characters and I love the way she has them interact and grow throughout the story. The usual cast of characters are seen during the story and I love the sense of family they all have for each other. We really need a book for Hoyt now.....

I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

Good premise. Mostly decent follow through. But this book needs an editor. The author forgot the name her hero took as an alias. There were several leaps without explanation. And I didn't like how Sparrow was so nice. Jared acted like an ass and she still kept coming back.

We've seen the James brother finally claim their women, now it's time for the Crowe brothers.

Although I really did enjoy this story, and I really loved Sparrow this book just didn't do it for me. I actually did not like Jared really.

Jared and his brother Hoyt were abused and neglected by their aunt growing up. They would've died tied up in a room had it not been for a little golden eyed girl. Fast-forward 20+ years later and Jared and Hoyt are back home in Tennessee. But it's not for a family

Kinda disappointed

I love these books and the way L.C writes. But...this one was not nearly as good as the others. Hillbilly or not, you just wouldn't allow yourself to be treated so badly and keep allowing certain things to happen. Human nature, to me, just wouldn't allow these drastic scenarios between two people. Oh just couldn't find this story believable, especially between Sparrow and Jarod

Reckless River

Another good book in this series. Jared has to work hard to get past the cruelties that were done to him as a child and learn to trust. Ready to read the next book in the series.

Best in series...

I thoroughly enjoyed Jared's story. His and Hoyt's history is rife with abuse. So happy he and Sparrow found their HEA. Hoyt definitely got a tough road ahead of him.

Am I going to sound greedy if I say that I never wanted it to end? I might going to change my favorable scales after reading this book, because "Reckless River" has the full package of everything a great romance book needs to have. Action, adventure, drama, romance, passion and amazing main characters you can so easily be connected with them.

The story starts with the two brothers, Jared and Hoyt hiding into the Crowe Mountain ready to revenge their aunt,Katlyn Crowe known as Miss Kay. When they

Lindsey Cross – Men of Mercy Series –Reckless River - book 3

The third book in the series is a fast paced heart stopping suspense with many twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page. The focus is on Jared and Hoyt Crowe who are a part of the Army Special Forces as Snipers and damn good at interrogation too. They are on the Task Force Scorpion (TF-S), a Branch of Joint Special Operators Command (JSOC) out of Ft. Grenada, MS.

So this is book three in the series, and I have to say I was a little bit surprised at the direction this book took. But first I want to kind of talk about the series. So in the first two books we are learning more about Scorpion but it focuses mostly on the James brothers and their hometown of Mercy (hence the series name). There is kind of a multi book story arc that starts in book one with their investigation in

I read the first two books in the Men of Mercy seriesRedemption River and Resurrection Riverwhich did not impress me. Sadly, this is more of the same. The special forces team is mostly not present and there is no mission here for them. One member of the team Jared, goes back to his childhood hometown to get revenge for the abuse he and his brother suffered. His brother is captured and tortured.

Jared spends most of his time, ev

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

Jared and his brother Hoyt were born in the mountains, and almost died there too. After their parents die, their Aunt Kay wants all the power of the mountain, the mountain that really belongs to Jared and Hoyt. She chains them in a closet and basically leaves them there to starve and die but as luck would have it, a little sparrow heard of their tale.

One night, Sparrow goes and frees the brothers. Jared asks her to go with them but she can't le

This is the first book of the Men of Mercy Series that I have read. It's number three in the series but although it read fine as a standalone, I definitely am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. I strongly feel this book should be read before reading book six, Ravaged River, as events in this book have a huge impact on the character of Hoyt Crowe who is the focus of Ravaged River.

The Special Forces operative at the heart of this story in Jared Crowe. He and his brother Hoyt

Love, love, love!

This is the third book in the series and this one hit it out of the park! The first two were excellent and this installment amped everything up a few more delicious notches! This is Jared and Sparrow’s story and, while it deviates from the location and focus of the series so far, it has all (and more) of the action and feels I am coming to expect.

Jared and Hoyt Crowe are brothers in blood, heart and every other way that matters. Members of an elite military task force their miss

This series for me is very reminiscent of the Nauti Boys series by Lora Leigh, which I enjoyed tremendously. The series centers around a team of Special Forces soldiers, many of whom are from the small Mississippi town of Mercy and the women who come to steal their hearts (or who’d stolen them long ago, but fate separated them).

Reckless River continues the story of Task Force Scorpion, this time focusing on brothers Jared and Hoyt Crowe who return to the hills of Tennessee to seek vengeance for

Reckless River: Men of Mercy: Book 3 is by Lindsay Cross. It is a thriller and a romance. This one is definitely different from the others. It does not involve TF-S team except as extraction team. It is very good.
Jared and Hoyt Crowe generally leave two weeks each year to go back to the mountains where they were born to supposedly pay tribute to their parents who had died when they were young. Instead, they went to spy on their Aunt and cousins to see if they could figure out a way to take her

Having read and loved the first two books in this series, I didn't hesitate to jump when the author offered an ARC for this story. I'll start by saying that this book is very different from its predecessors. It focuses on the brothers, Jared and Hoyt who were raised mountain backwoods by a family of criminals. Jared is finally ready to try to take out his aunt's criminal operation even though he knows she and her people will kill him and Hoyt on sight. What he doesn't count on is encountering th ...more

This series has completely blown me away this week.
The author has taken me on a wild ride, into some really deep emotions, and fierce action, truly literary moments I will not forget anytime soon.
In Reckless River the feelings go deeper, deeper and darker than most feel comfortable with. The love and connection between the brothers is beautiful, even though it is the results of something evil and vile that took place in their childhood. The years of survival have honed the relationship into some

This was my first Lindsay Cross read, and my first Men of Mercy book. As a southern girl from Mississippi, I was pretty excited about the setting and the personalities involved. A lot of the worldbuilding for this book reminded me of the television series Justified, which I love. Except in Justified the old lady (Mags) who ran the area was ruthless and feared, but not unkempt or repulsive necessarily. There was a lot to dislike about the villains in this tale; personal hygiene was a factor. The ...more

Jared and Hoyt Crowe are brothers that are apart of the secret military unit only known as TF-S. This is Jared's story.
The Crowe brothers are from the mountains of Tennesse and for a week out of the year they returm to that hellish place, not because they really want to but because Jared can not forget what was done to them as children and Hoyt follows to keep his brother from self destructing.
So, Hoyt gets kidnapped while on the mountain and Jar
