It was just ok. I'm not very keen on the characters being in love with each other and denying it for years while still sleeping around and then boom all of a sudden they cave.
I normally like this author, but this one didn't do anything for me. I made it 10 pages last night, but put it aside, not that interesting. Picked it up today, made it another 15 pages rolling my eyes the whole time. I don't like Gideon, Paige isn't much better and I can't stand how both of them are secretly lusting after each other but too sacred to do something about it. In the end this one just wasn't for me.
Gideon Shaw is Hollywood's "it" boy. Plenty of sex, scandal and drama to keep the tabloids in business. Add in a salacious sex tape to the mix and you have a PA's worst nightmare.
Paige Turner is that PA but it gets much worse. Not only is she Gideon Shaw's PA, but she's been in love with him. No... wait.... in true Hollywood fashion, those are just the superficial details, not the facts. Gideon Shaw is actually the made up alter-ego of Edward Banning. A down-to-earth, former pool boy who just happened to befriend Paige at the right place and time.
Together, the dynamic team has had each other's backs in a business that's known for placing knives into rather than well placed pats of accolades. Somewhere in all of the mess, they became best friends and fell in love but worried that love would rip aoart their fragile grip on reality versus their professional lives. Once the sex scandal blows everything out of proportion... it's time for Paige and Edward to either take a leap of faith and admit their true feelings or for Gideon to become the front and center and only man in Paige's life.
I love how this storyline panned out with its well paced humor and sassy and sarcastic quips. The characters, as always, are believable and real. One's that you could envision as friends and find yourself interacting with in the same way the story presents. I cannot wait for a continuation of Marsh's and Carolyn's story (please tell me there will be one). Suzanne Halliday never fails to disappoint! Definitely recommend!
So. Here we have this gorgeous cover, bordering the sexy that would probably make any normal girl drool.. And a story that before you even delve into it, has so many questions at the back of your mind.. But most importantly, when you do finally pick up your jaw from off the floor and get into it? Boy oh boy..
Remember how I said that cover would "probably" make any normal girl drool? Huh. Let's just say that Gideon being Hollywood's hottest man is an understatement to how sinfully good the bloody story is.. And let's not forget the main reason. Ladies. Gideon and all his glory, will make you insane.. Seriously.
The story of a hot, famous and very successful man and a college student turns into an epic romance story that will have you at the edge of your sits. It has every raw element in making this a fun and sexy read but at the same time, it makes you feel for each of the characters distinctive personalities.
It was one of those read that I not only finished in one sitting, but I was left wanting MORE. I wasn't done!! Bloody hell.
The only part that I was a little harsh on when giving it a 4.5 wasn't a very big thing at all, but just in my opinion I felt the second/third person aspect didn't offer the character to reader connection 100%. I hope that makes sense, but I just mean that I often if not most of the time prefer stories in first person. It didn't take away from the story by any means, it was just one of those things that if there, I would immediately pick it up and it would follow me throughout the story.
Other than that, it was an amazing story that not only made me laugh, smile, tear up and become angry enough to potentially sacrifice my kindle and my wall, but it also made me blush and I felt like a sigh escaped my lips during a few scenes. It was just so beautifully well done that I cannot bloody wait to read more of Suzanne Halliday's creations!! Thank you so much for the ARC that I will always be tempted to delve into once again and that WILL not doubt, forever stop me to drool over when browsing my kindle..
I'm a newer fan of this author, and have been reading all of her books that I can get my hands on, but The Gideon Affair has topped them all (I know I know it's hard to imagine)! I freakin LOVED it!
Paige Turner is the extremely organized, feisty personal assistant to Hollywood's heartthrob Gideon Shaw, and she's best friends with military vet Edward Banning. The problem is she's in love with both of them as they're the two sides of one man. Edward Banning is a family man with a huge heart that just happens to be a sexy leading man on the side. Very few people are allowed to know the read him, but Paige is one of them and very important to him. In fact, he's fighting to keep his strong feelings from ruining their friendship. Will Paige and Edward finally give in, and admit their true feelings for each other?
This story is absolutely fantastic! I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough, and needed more. The character development is spot on, with a very well written, fast paced story line. I loved all the well placed humor that had me laughing continuously throughout. Suzanne Halliday added some exciting twists that I didn't see coming to give it great edginess. Paige and Edwards chemistry is brilliantly tangible, and made the sexy scenes off the charts SMOKIN' HOT! I couldn't get enough of these two, and I hope we get to see more of them in the near future (hint hint)! This extremely talented author never disappoints, and I CANNOT WAIT to read more of her.
This was a little bit of hard book to follow until you got used to the author's writing style. I understood that she wanted Edward and Gideon to be two different people but they really aren't so it took a bit for me to get in the groove of that. Once I did, I really liked the background and the way the story rolled along. I love Paige and her kick butt, take no prisoners attitude. She is a force to be reckoned with and I wanna be her when I grow up. LOL Edward has been through the Hollywood ringer and it has been growing steadily worse when the bomb hits in the form of an aging starlet who wanted to deflect attention from her indiscretions.
Edward and Paige are best friends and each have been fighting an attraction to each other so when it's decided by Edward/Gideon's PR people that he needed to settle down it kind of pushed them forward in their relationship from best friends to much more than friends. I was so disappointed that we didn't a front row seat to the sex scenes but the rundown afterwards almost made up for it. I liked this book but I wish some things had been handled differently like the sex scenes and the Gideon/Edward differences. That is just my personal opinion though!
Gideon Shaw is Americas playboy and heartthrob,Edward Banning a military vet, down to earth family man with a soft heart..they are both the same person.Edward likes nothing better than to step away form his alter ego Gideon and hang out with his best friend Paige Turner.Paige has fallen for Edward only she sees the man he really is underneath. But everyone wants Gideon not Edward.Paige is also Gideons PA.They’ve always looked out for each other, had each others backs in a cut throat industry. Both torn between the friendship they have and the desire they feel for each other they finally give in to it no longer able to deny whats between them but when the uglier side of the industry rears its ugly head and threatens to destroy what they’ve only just started can they come out the other side together? Im a huge Suzanne Halliday fan and have read every single book, this story grabs you from the get go its funny sexy with some drama thrown in the characters are easy to relate to and there are some equally fab secondary characters that I hope get their own stories!
Edward Banning "aka" Gideon is in love with Paige Turner. His best friend, his personal assistant and his whole world.
Being the sexy heart throb and movie star of Hollywood is not all it's cracked up to be. He's over it.
Paige Turner loves Edward the man. Not the hollywood star. He's her best friend.
An outstanding read. It delivers everywhere. The characters are swoon worthy but they are also real. Not fabricated fluff. The heat factor is still making me blush.
The Gideon Affair was another all-around fantastic book by Suzanne Halliday. This author is one of my automatic one click authors, and I have loved each and every book that I have read by her. When I sit down to read one of her books I know that I am going to get a story that is outstandingly written, characters that are dynamic and layered, and more feeling and heat and emotion than you can shake a stick at. The Gideon Affair delivered all of that and more, and it gave me a truly enjoyable and well-rounded reading experience.
The Gideon Affair tells the story of Gideon Shaw aka Edward Banning, and his assistant/best friend/ unrequited love Paige Turner. You see Gideon Shaw is the stage name for Edward Banning, and Gideon Shaw is the hottest ticket in Hollywood. He's an A-list actor and is desired by all, but underneath it all he's just Edward Banning, a veteran, good natured man, who has some serious feelings for his best friend/assistant Paige. Just like Edward, Paige is sporting some heavy feelings that have been building for years. The Gideon Affair explores what happens when Edward and Paige decide to see where all those feelings could take them, and the world of possibilities and craziness those feelings might bring. What ensues is a wonderful story full of build, immense feeling and chemistry, and a healthy dose of Hollywood drama that'll keep you hooked in from start to finish.
Suzanne Halliday did an outstanding job of weaving together a story that is multilayered and has so many fantastic aspects to it. It was enthralling and kept me engaged the entire time with the events that had you on the edge of your seat. That combined with the phenomenal level of build she creates between these two characters just pulls you in more and more as you keep reading this book. The Gideon Affair gives you such a fantastic amount of everything that makes a book so good to read. It was exciting, it was brimming with heat and connection and real emotions that you could truly feel. It was also real and so easy to believe in, yet had that Hollywood magic that made it all the more exciting and pulse racing.
Suzanne Halliday fantastically brought all of the aspects of this book together to give you a story that just doesn't quit, with two characters you'll instantly feel for.
I love Suzanne Halliday's writing style so much, and she makes it so beyond easy to fall right into her stories heart first. She allows you to get right into all of her characters heads, allowing you to see and feel them, and to just get them. She lets you build a bond with each and every one of them, and she transitions seamlessly between all of her magnificent characters. Her writing also evokes the best amount of feeling and emotions which connects you so much into what you're reading, and what these characters are going through.
I've felt that with every book I've read by this author, and The Gideon Affair was no different. I loved Edward and Paige. I fell for them, I cared for them, and I rooted for them the entire time I was reading this book. Those two definitely had some odds in front of them, including themselves and their own fears, but getting to go along with them as they tried to figure it all out was nothing short of wonderful. I got to see and love them both at their most honest, their most real, and I got the real them, and that was everything. It allowed me to see who they really were, and see what they could share together if they were actually able to find a way to make it work.
I absolutely loved Paige's character. She felt like my best friend while reading. She was strong and had a bit of a sassy side, and she was so easy to like and love. She's a good person, relatable, and someone who is giving it her all. I loved her character because I could see myself in her. It was also so easy to understand everything she was thinking and feeling because of how fantastically Suzanne Halliday created her character. I connected to her so truly while reading. I hoped with her, hurt with her, felt the same worries and vulnerabilities she did, and through it all I just loved every bit of Paige.
Gideon aka Edward was another outstanding male character that had me hooked, lined, and sinkered in no time. The more you read this book, the more you start to see the differences between Gideon Shaw and Edward Banning. Sure they're technically the same person, but Edward (the man behind the Gideon Shaw name) was just as good as can be. He was a true force to be reckoned with and had this fierceness to him that definitely made me blush, but what I loved most about him was the authenticity he gave off. You see so many sides to his character in this book and you get to understand and appreciate every single one. You get to see the side out there for the public, the a-list actor, and then you get to see the real guy behind that name, the good guy who feels with all he's got and cares immensely for Paige. Over the course of this book you get all sides of him, and you will love each and every one of them. Seriously.
Now Paige and Edward have had a world of feeling building and building for quite some time. They've known each other for years, and throughout this book you are right there with them as their feelings and desires for one another start to boil over more and more. That build is so phenomenally created and will have you so beyond invested in them both. It heightens everything they're sharing, and it has you hoping with all you've got that these two can find a way to figure it all out, so they can explore all that they have together. I am an immense fan of friends to lovers stories, and this one knocks it out of the park in that respect. Trust me. Suzanne Halliday develops their relationship in a way that makes sense for their story, and definitely has you feeling and experiencing every bit of what those two do.
The Gideon Affair was an overall solid read that I really enjoyed. Suzanne Halliday's fantastic writing brought this book to life in the best way. It gave me two great characters that I fell in love with, and a story that kept giving me more and more all the way through. Suzanne Halliday did a great job of balancing so many fabulous aspects together in this book to create a well rounded read that will have you rooting and believing in the power and depth of feeling that friends to lovers can share. What she gives you in this book will have you so in this story, and you will not want it to end!
I truly enjoyed this book, and I can't wait to read more of what this author has in store next! Her writing is fabulous in every way, and is guaranteed to give you stories and characters that you'll love to pieces!! The Gideon Affair was no different, and what she so fantastically creates for you in this book is not to be missed.
The Gideon Affair is another great book by Suzanne Halliday. Staying friends or becoming lovers and possibly losing that friendship..... is it worth the risk? That's the question that Edward and Paige have to answer. With Ms Halliday we are assured of two things, a Happily Ever After and some 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. She delivered.
I gave the Gideon Affair 5 * because it wasn't what I expected. As the story progressed, the mini plots never progressed as I expected. Really enjoyed the characters, the humour and not forgetting the love.moo
It took some time to get into the book. It was a good book. It's interesting what you think you need and then there's was you already have with finding your partner in crime.😂
Wow. Well let me start off by saying how much I loved this book!
I need to rewind and say that for me it was a very slow start. I'm not sure if it was because the book started off slow or if I was so engrossed in her other books that I had to get used to new characters. Either way the end result was LOVE towards another Suzanne Halliday book! I'm glad that I stuck with it and read it completely through. It was a beautiful love story that put 2 best friends in a HEA situation. I don't like going into detail about what happens in the book because I believe you should read and be surprised with the twist and turns and how fate will always pull through no matter how crazy it seems. Thank you Suzanne Halliday... Now on to the Wedding Affair!!
4.5 Stars... Man where do I begin. Gideon was one hot actor, but I LOVED Edward hard. Paige is probably the best assistant most Hollywood actors need. Her quick wit and practical thinking is amazing, but her love to Edward is true.
This story is hot, steamy and downright Hollywood love. But Edward would leave it all behind to be with Paige. He has felt her connection for six years. Paige didn't want to act on her feelings, but when she finally did it was the best chemistry around.
I love Suzanne's books and will continue to read all her books. Her books make me dream of the best alpha men around.
One man has made her heart jump so fast and made her question whether or not a human lifetime is long enough for love...
Witty, snarky Paige Turner is a damn good personal assistant. The problem? She’s in love with her boss, who happens to be America's myth. Military Vet, Edward Banning is a down-home family man with a heart of gold. But only Paige gets to see the real him. Edward’s favorite part of the day is when the spotlight dims and he’s back to himself, enjoying the company of his best friend, Paige Turner.
Torn between wanting her and needing her friendship, Edward tries to deny the pull she has on him. But after they both give in to their desires, the dark side of Hollywood threatens to destroy what both of them were afraid to even start. Can Paige love Edward, while surviving the Gideon Affair? (Amazon blurb)
We've seen with authors, with singers and some actors, the use of aliases; only their reasons behind using them varies, some to create different types of works, others to protect their private lives and others, simply because they wanted to. As for Gideon Shaw, he was created by Paige Turner, best friend and personal assistant, who also fell in love with him, hoping to augment his popularity on screen while hiding his true identity, Edward Banning, veteran and down to earth man looking for the diamond in the rough. And then I fell in love; with a book, in the middle of the night when I should have been sleeping. There's no denying that Edward is the type of man to bring home to your parents and Gideon is the one that brings you thrills, and when they happen to be the one and same person, well, what a bonus!! Suzanne Halliday has managed to write an amazing storyline that I have not yet encountered as of yet, which makes it quite entertaining and interesting to read, but I was able to connect with the characters as well and the mane facets of their relationship. I'm a first time reader for this author, and I can't wait to see what else she has in store in upcoming releases!
. **Received a copy in exchange for an honest review. Read and reviewed by Kathleen for Alpha Book Club**
Gideon Shaw is an actor with sort of a split personality lol… he’s Gideon Shaw behind the cameras and Edward Banning when the director yells cut. Both are equally sexy and charming, but Edward is the one that his assistant, Paige Turner, is in love with. Little does she know he has been in love with her for a very long time as well. The problem is neither is willing to sacrifice their friendship should something go wrong and they find themselves in a failed romantic relationship.
I loved how these two characters knew each other so well and yet were so afraid to come together… I enjoyed getting to know them and watch their relationship develop. There are some truly lol moments in this book that you will absolutely love! When Ms. Halliday finally brought them together I thought my ipad might actually melt – holy hottness!!!!
The Gideon affair was given to me in an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I give this book 3.5 stars.
Suzanne Halliday created a good love story about a normal man name Edward who is known in the acting world as Gideon who is in love with Paige. What he loves most about Paige is she real and not fake like most of the girls he has been with. He also loves how she knows the real him, and how he can be normal and a real person around her. I love the connection they share with each other and how they both can feel so comfortable with each other. I just wish that this book had more of a flow to it and less details. I feel like the story didn't come together until about the middle of the book. But when it did come together the Author did a wonderful job creating the love these two characters had for one another. I also liked how towards the end the Author crafted such a beautiful way to say goodbye to Paige and Edward love story.
Paige loves Edward her best friend but he has an alter ego named Gideon Shaw and that is the handsome bad boy actor all the world sees...Neither one has told the other how they really feel because they don't want to lose the friendship if the other does not feel the same.... When their true feelings come out, that is about the time the "shit hits the fan" this book had funny laugh out loud moments with Paige and her snarky smart mouth and Edward and his smart ass come backs it's never dull!!! There are some panty melting dreams and defiantly real sexy scenes.. If you love a good romance with sexy scenes this is a must read I defiantly recommend it❤️❤️
her boss actually. Paige has been in love with her boss for awhile, but he's her best friend. She doesn't want to ruin the friendship, so she just hides it. He has been more than lusting after her for years. She's his best friend and obviously doesn't feel the same. Or does she? What happens when Hollywood gets in the way of two friends trying the next step? Crazy plans and schemes are hatched, but will it work? Will they work or will the scandal drag their new relationship through the gutter?
I only finished this book because I wanted to see where it went. Gideon/Ethan Banning and Paige's relationship really started off weird. They've know each other for 6 years and then all of a sudden he makes a move and their innocent flirting turns into something? I just felt this book was very choppy. The whole scandal was never really explained very clearly. Sex slaves and movie stars really? The ending jumps from the wedding to 18 months later? You only get that when reading the first few lines just not my style of writing I enjoy.
I read my first Justice Brothers book by Suzanne Halliday about a year ago and I've been a huge fan ever since. I've read all of her books, and The Gideon Affair keeps her on my list of must-read authors.
Edward (Gideon) and Paige, after a friendship of six years, finally let themselves explore their long time attraction to each other. Let the hot, steamy romance begin! Loved this book!
OMG this book was awesome. Always love reading a Suzanne Halliday book. The dialog in this book is so amazing. You find yourself laughing out loud all of the time. I loved the friendship of Paige and Edward. Both so sexxy and hot. I love their love story. Such a great storyline. Wanted more. So many great characters. Can't wait for the next instalment of the Affair Series.
This was a wonderful light, airy romance that left me swooning.
Paige and Edward have been friends for years and both have feelings for each other but Paige doesn't want to cross the line especially since she is the P.A to Edwards celebrity persona, Gideon Shaw.
Join these two as they cross the line and fall in love.
I have read all of Suzanne's Justice series and totally adore those characters, but I actually think I love Edward and Paige more. They took the gamble and crossed the line from friends to lovers and it paid off with happily ever after. This book is totally worth whatever you pay for it.
Beautiful love story. Wonderfully written. Gorgeous characters and a fantastic storyline. You really outdid yourself with this book. Edward and Paige are delightful characters who I just adored.
This is fantastic. There is a quirky sense of humor interwoven throughout a wonderfully told story by well developed characters. This is beyond excellent. For those of you that care, there are sexy hot scenes. Highly highly recommend
