Valentina Belmonte isn’t evil anymore—honest. She’s hung up her supervillain costume, retired to Florida with her family, and hasn’t committed a crime in years. (Well, not a felony. What’s a misdemeanor here and there if you don’t get caught?) This time, she’s not the one in trouble with the law—her goody-two-shoes, former superhero of a husband is.

He saved her life two m

Review

A few months after the events of Hero Status, we find Valentine and Dave trying to keep their family safe and out of jail. Due to all the laws that Dave broke to find Valentine in the last book, he is now facing charges and may be persecuted. Trying to find a way to save her family, Valentine decides to make

Black Valentine and White Knight are back in the sequel to Hero Status! After the events of the first book, Dave (White Knight) is dealing with the repercussions of his actions. If she wants to keep him out of jail, Valentina has to play nice with the feds and track down some nasty narcotics.

This series is super full of action and I love it! It blends a lot of genres. It’s not just cool villain versus superhero fight scenes, it’s also got a touch of roman

This book picks up where the last one ended, taking us back to retired superhero Dave del Toro and his wife Valentina Belmonte. After saving her life two months before, he might now have to go to jail - unless Valentina gets sufficient evidence against a drug trafficker. I will not tell you more about the story than shown in the Goodreads plot description. This would spoil the fun of reading this book yourself.

With Villainous, Kristen Brand has created a thrilling story of a loving w

More direct but still good

The second book in the series goes to the distaff half of the pair. As you would expect from a psychic super villain, the investigation is much more direct than the previous book, but still has a number of surprises.
The strongest part of the book is the family relationships between our couple and their daughter, in all three directions. That combination of love, trust, fear, and forgiveness makes this impossible tale believable.

If Kristen Brand could have any superpower, she’d want telekinesis so she wouldn’t have to move from her computer to pour a new cup of tea. She spends far too much time on the internet, and when she’s not writing, she’s usually reading novels or comic books. Hero Status is her first novel.
