"Thou shalt take the boy out of Manchester, but you cannot take Manchester out of the boy."

I’m a killer, a hardened criminal born into the underbelly of an unlawful world that my father crafted, and I am to be crowned the next King. I used to covet the dark; it has forever been my friend and forgives me my sins. A slither of light has dared me to hope, it has my house

Surviving Him could have been solely a romance, a thriller, a public announcement or a comedy. I am utterly amazed how new author, Dawn Keane, managed to spin this all together and make it all work. The story itself might be fiction but the knowledge of domestic abuse comes first hand, right out of the pages of Dawn's personal life. I am in awe of her ~ the fact that this book is even written is a testament to her strength and maybe even hope for those who have been in the same situation.

I absolutely loved this story. Be warned its a dark erotic romance so some of the subject may not suit everyone.

Dana is a survivor of domestic abuse. She ran away from her nasty horrid ex husband to find safety for herself and her family. When she meets Logan she finds it hard to trust and let someone take care of her. The chemistry between these two is hot & I was so rooting for them to have a happy ever after. However Danas life can't be easy when her ex is after her.

Really great gritty

Surviving you is book two in Dawn A Keane's Shameless series but can be read as a standalone. Originally we meet Lee and Rose in book one but they're supporting characters without too much background. This book is all about them. The book is set in Manchester not too far from where I live, I like that the places she talks about are real and the language and dialect used is true to the city. With this book Dawn delves into the gritty underbelly of what goes on in the city and although t

Dealing with a neurotic, overbearing mother, an uninvited cat and staring at double D's all day, it's no wonder 24-year-old Billie Angel finds herself lost in a fantasy world more often than not.

With her not so smart phone glued firmly to her hip, Billie’s life revolves around her reading apps. Chided for having her face stuck in her screen for more hours than she cares to count, Billie soon discovers that not all fantasies are in her head.

I recorded this arc for an honest review.

Such a sweet read. I loved everything about this book.

Dana and Logan are perfect for each other. The struggle of life are real and this book shows that in every way.

Will look for reads by this author. Very good writing.

This is my honest review for the first novel by author D. A. Keane titled “Surviving Him” of the Shameless Series. This is an intense story about surviving a terrible ordeal at the hands of someone that should’ve been a protector. Also, it’s a story about a woman who will do what she can to protect her daughters while having

This book is the 2nd in the Shameless Series and needs to be read in order.

This book reminds me of the childhood story the three little pigs and the big bad wolf. Why this story comes to mind when reading this passionate book is just this. The wolf thought he had control with his blowing of each of the pig’s home down. What the wolf didn’t seem to get in the story is just that when you destroy one pigs home he in turn runs to another and so on till the last house is left standing not beca

While touted as a dark romance, Surviving Him isn't the type of dark romance I am usually drawn to. This is the story of Dana and her little girls fleeing an abusive ex-husband in search of a better life for all of them.

While apart from her ex, Dana met and fell in love and had another child with Logan. Now she is on the run from the ex Ian, not staying with Logan and leaving me a little confused. Dana is actually in a shelter for women while hiding from Ian. She thinks the cops won't be able to

I really enjoyed Shush I'm reading it drew me to the point were I didn't put my kindle down till the very end . It was like a story within itself and I found it very unique with characters that have hilarious quirks while being lovable . Billie and Hunter are great together with chemistry that can't be denied but they fall for one another at a really busy time in their lives and yet can't keep away for long , with the way they keep bumping into each other had me dying . Billie is very relatable ...more

Surviving Him is the second book in a series but can be read as a standalone. However I found myself wanting to know about the characters in the first release that appeared as secondary characters in this release. Surviving Him is the first release that centers around Dana and Logan. You meet Lee and Rose in the first book from what I understand. Again I haven’t read it so Im not sure how deep you get into their characters in the first release.

This is a hard review for me to write for a few reasons. For a debut novel it is a great start. It has a good strong storyline and plot, engaging characters and a wealth of emotional conflict. It’s a bit of a tough read in places but I wouldn’t expect anything less when an author deals with this kind of plot line. It felt personal, very personal and what I really liked was the raw honesty of the words on the pages. You could feel that this book came from the heart. With a debut nov

Review to come.

Surviving Him was a very big surprise to me.
There were so many feels, from laughter to tears and it’s a dark erotic romance with violent situations with also abusive behavior! Strangely it worked! The tone of the book could be surprising but the author managed to put everything together perfectly. You could switch from passion to l

Another new author to me and worth of all clicks and reads given due to the subject matter – domestic abuse and survival. Dawn Keane tells a tale of fighting for what you want and learning how to conquer the horrors of fleeing a monster. Even more compelling is that Ms. Keane has knowledge of this terrible act and has gifted readers a book, fiction of course, but also apparently having the courage to share at minimum a similar story to hers. I can't think straight

I thought that Surviving Him did a number on me, but I was wrong. Very, very wrong. I knew that this book would be sorta dark, like the first one. Dana and Logan's story was told beautifully from start to finish. It was a difficult story to take. Domestic abuse is out there. It's real and its victims who become survivors are the bravest of souls.
Surviving You, revolved around Lee and Rose. Lee is someone one who you wouldn't dare think of getting on his wrong side. He's fr

This is a very quirky and unique book.
A few times l thought that l had lost the plot ,
the lines between fact and fiction get well and truly blurred.

The whole premise of this book is Billie's love of reading,
her desire to escape reality , and lose herself in a good story.
" When l'm reading l want to be consumed by the story as l devour it "

Billie is a sweetheart, she is a loner , hard working and loving,
towards her mother and book friends.
She is very quirky , her inner monologues hilarious.

I read this book and there are incidences of spousal abuse and flashbacks to other horrible but all to real events in a battered but surviving woman's life. Dana felt broken and hopeless as Ian her ex keeps coming at her.

Dana meets Logan, who is wonderful to her and her two girls. But Dana doesn't want to bring her nightmare into Logan's life. Been there and it is a hopeless and lonely place. Ms. Keane does a wonderful job of portraying what it is like to be in that situation. I just wonder whe

This is the second book in this series, and I loved it.
Brutally honest about an awful subject matter.
Rose and Lee... I loved these two together. They just worked.
Rose fought her attraction to Lee, fearing getting close to any man after her Brutal ex partner, whom she is still hiding from.
But Lee's not a man to let that put him off, if anything it makes him want to protect her, anyway he can.
Their story is difficult to say the least, Lee has a lot of his own battles going on too.

This was a real page turner for me.

Its sometimes dark, and so if you are easily offended, do not read it. I however like books like this as its gritty and as near to dark life as you can get it. We can't all believe that life is a ball of cherries and these things happen just like in this book.

Dana has been in a relationship where she has been terribly abused, she is has escaped this, however, HE won't let her be, he is out there!

She meets Logan, and between them there is immense sparks, they

This is very different than the authors previous books. It's got comedy, drama, angst and so much more. I love how we got a story in a story with this. How we read about Annabell & Josh through Billie, but at the same time we see how Billie's life starts to change when after a few disastrous yet funny, meetings, her love life starts to pick up.
What I really enjoyed about this was how the author flipped from one set of characters (Annabell & Josh) to th

A decently good story. Touches on very dark
and horrible subjects when the main female
character recalls her relationship with her
ex-husband. When the ex is determined to keep
his control over her, all she can do is run
with her 2 daughters and leave the man she
really loves behind. All for the sake of protecting
them and herself. Will she be successful in
doing this long enough for her ex to move on?
Or is he determined to ruin the happiness she
really wants to concentrate on in her life?

You are either going to love this book or take a dislike to it. And if you dislike it, it's because you don't want to get emotionally involved with the storyline. The storyline isn't for everyone, there are those readers who would stay clear because it's a storyline about domestic abuse.
For me this was a very detailed storyline about Dana, her ex husband Ian and the love of her life Logan. Dana life is her two girls. She will do everything in her power to protect them, including giving up on her

Surviving You is a rollercoaster ride from the very beginning with twists and turns that you don't see coming and will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. I loved bad boy Lee who wanted Rose so very much. I adored Rose who wanted a better life for her and her child. Both had no idea what was in store for them. I want to say that I loved their story and I did, but I felt like I got punched in the gut at the very end which really is a testament to the writer that her story ...more

I'm so sorry, but no! This one did not do it for me at all.

I don't have issues with going from Present to Past or Past to Present, BUT the author needs to let you know what are you reading, you can't go from reading a paragraph in present and then jump into the past without notice. It was so confusing.

I believe the story itself was good, but what was not good is the way the author developed it. And again, I'm sorry but the there were some things where I was like: Are you shitting me? Right? Th

Dana, is on the run from her abusive ex-husband, currently living in a domestic abuse shelter . All she wants is to live with the man she loves but that can't happen until her ex is caught. Can Dana have the life she wants? Your answers await you in Surviving Him.

This story hits close to home for me. I understand the struggles and hope that every victim finds their safe haven. The story and characters are real, raw, rich, bold, honest, complicated, and complex.

I was brought up in Manchester and I am now living in the beautiful Scottish borders with my three children.
I have enjoyed writing my story as I had a pretty hard upbringing and have suffered like everyone does over the years in different situations, but everyone has a story to tell.
I just hope my story can help someone out there who is or has been through the same sorts of situations as myself.
