Film music geeks - of which appellation I do claim - will find much to like about this book, but it also has a lot to offer to film fans or those whose interest in music is merely casual. First of all, it's a nirvana for Jerry Goldsmith fans as a thorough examination of one of his landmark scores, broken down cue by cue, and explained in a way that's very accessible and understandable to those who do not possess a music degree (though NOT 'dumbed down' in any way); secondly, fans of the APES ser ...more

If you are at all interested in the great classic score from Jerry Goldsmith for the original 'Planet of the Apes' then this book will enlighten you on this modern soundtrack masterpiece. It also weaves a tale of a music fan's personal journey for a movie and its score.
