Hurray for Indie Authors!
A serial killer has escape from Hell and he's killing children! Neither Angels or Demons can find him so they put together a team to return to earth and hunt Daniel down, think Fantastic Four. From the first circle of Hell (Limbo) we have Virgil and Lisa, a Marshal and Cop, who were both a little too trigger happy. From the first circle of Heaven (boring beach) we have Sara and Alfred, a medical examiner and a criminal psychologist, who are a bit of a mystery as to why t

Virgil was a U.S. Marshal that died in 1985. He wasn’t an overly bad person but enough to get sent to the first ring of Hell pushing paper. But then a serial killer manages to escape Hell and continues his killing spree. The Angels and Demons decide to put together a team of humans to hunt down the killer. Lisa was a rogue cop that was killed in 1995 and counted coins in Hell. From the first ring of Heaven we have Sara, a forensic specialist that passed in 1993 and Alfred, a forensic psychologis ...more

A different kind of murder mystery.

Virgil is in "limbo" in the first circle of hell. He spends eternity filing, after living his life as a US Marshall. After an evil soul, once a serial killer, escapes hell and resumes his pattern of killer. Both Heaven and Hell send a team to capture him and return him.

Virgil is sent back to Earth along with Lisa, a rogue cop who was also in limbo (she spent her time counting coins), Sara from Heaven who was a medical examiner, and Alfred from Heaven, a psychol

Roman. Insgesamt veröffentlichte er bis heute 24 Bücher. Mir fiel „First Circle Club“ bei Netgalley ins Auge.

This book is just a lot of fun. It is like an 80s movie meets Dante's Inferno. There's so much to like with this book, just leave the theological and philosophical debates at the door(or not) and fall into this world of Angels and Demons who file paperwork and get bored. Virgil appeals to my like of the old school no-nonsense tough guy characters, this however might not be for everyone. The main four characters are also compelling due to their origins and their afterlives however, I do feel like ...more

This was a mixed bag for me and really is a 2.5 star but not quite 3.0. I wish we could give half star ratings. Alas, the read was ok with some high points and some low points. The male characters were nicely developed but the female characters came across rather immature and with a negative lens. The writing was solid except when dialogue was happening, in which case the flow suffered as the dialogue felt forced and unnatural. The plot has a lot going for it and feels unique and plausible. My Impressions: Very unique concept/premise…I immediately wanted to read it. Got right into the story, no long-winded soliloquies from the narrator…and thank goodness its written in 3rd person so we get multiple views of the world! Loving the pace of the book, a smooth glide…not so fast that its hard to keep things strait, but not slow and riddled with stops and stalls like some books I’ve read.

The Romance Angle: Nothing notable. There were a few random attractions thrown in just to titillate bu

Great story.

Wow, this one was a change from what I usually read but I couldn't put it down. Supernatural crimefighters from both heaven and hell team up to hunt a killer, now that's a story! I'm going to read book two in the series right now, man this is good stuff.

Virgil didn’t lead a good life – not totally awful or he would have been banished to a lower circle of Hell than the first circle – but not a good one. Facing a dull eternity in limbo stretches ahead of him – until something unprecedented happened: a soul escaped Hell.

And not just any soul – but a serial killer hunting teeangers.

Equally unprecedented the demons of Hell and the Angels of Heaven decide only humans can bring this escaped soul back – 2 from the first circle of Hell, 2 from the first

I love the concept for this book. Two souls from heaven and two souls from hell, sent back to earth to work together in finding an escaped demonic soul, is a story full of intriguing possibilities. We explore some controversial and thought-provoking topics, mostly with humor, and never with preaching. The author doesn't stand on one side or the other and never interferes, instead letting the characters make the statements and ask the questions in their own way.

Despite my love for the concept, I

A damned soul has escaped Hell and no one, not denizens of Hell or denizens of Heaven, knows how the soul made it out. But, no matter how it happened, it is a problem for both sides. The soul named Daniel was a serial killer before dying and has started up his old habits on Earth, taking young victims’ lives in order to send them to Heaven early. To bring him back to Hell, both sides enlist a total of four people, two from the first circle of Hell and two from the first circle of Heaven, who hav ...more

I loved the premise to this book and the reviews looked good so I got it. I read a few pages and wasn't impressed-it wasn't bad but didn't seem to draw me in either. I've learned to give a book a few chapters before I give up on it so I kept reading and surprise! I not only enjoyed this book but when it ended I looked for more by this author. Was it the best book I ever read? No. Was it entertaining and did it "take me away" for a while? Yes. This was a nice lig

I loved this. I definitely want to read the next book in the series!!
The premise of this is great. Dead guy is let out of hell to find another dead guy who impossibly escaped, with a team of two from heaven and another from hell to help him. A somewhat warped, twisted story that explores just what hell really is, but in a raucous, nonstop action-packed thriller that uses imaginative world-building to take us on a ride.
The writing was solid, though it could have used a tiny bit of copyediting. Bu

First Circle Club by Alex Siegel is the type of book you need to read like the script to a super-hero action movie! It is a fantasy. And, if you can keep the scenes in your mind, the book will make a whole lot more sense as you watch the action unfold.

We are now in limbo. Somewhere between heaven and earth and hell and earth.

A serial killer from the past has escaped from hell and returned to earth to start killing children again. To catch him, the angels of heaven and the demons from hell releas

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review. Virgil is a bounty hunter; that is, until he was shot and killed on the job. Since then he's been in the first circle of limbo--he was a good man, but did kill while on the job.

After thirty years of limbo, he is given a chance to temporarily return to Earth. His mission? To track down a soul that has escaped from Hell and taken human form--the soul of Daniel,, a serial killer. Virgil i

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review. First book I've read from Alex Siegel and I can't wait to read the next. Great characters along with a great storyline made this book very enjoyable to read. I loved the back stories of each character and how it played into their situations. The storyline was clear and easy to follow but descriptive enough to be able to picture things happening in my head as I was reading. Really looking forward to the next i ...more

This book is truly frightening. Do ever contemplate what Heaven and Hell might be like? Written with a sense of the mysterious, humor with a highly unusual characters who come back to Earth with a strange mission ... to catch a demon who is the first to escape Hell. Who is he working for? A good lengthy book that will entertain right to the last page. Gory at times, but no blatant sex so I might be okay for younger readers, too. I enjoyed it!

Stairway to heaven and hell

This was an enjoyable read - a mystery crime thriller with players from above and below as well as those on this realm. Very good book, well written with characters that, even though they have passed on, still have earthly flaws. Good start to a series.

Intriguing Premise

I enjoyed this book where an elite team is made up of 2 demons and 2 angels who are sent to earth to capture a serial killer who escaped from Hell. The author cleverly found ways to make them work well together to go after the bad guy with their own personal strengths and weaknesses. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a twist.

Worth reading twice.

Good fast paced story. Well written with lots of compelling twists and action. I liked the idea to balance angels and demons to be a team to right a serious wrong. Interesting approach.

Good characters and a fun story. Well paced action sequences. Some of the dialogue is a bit strained and misplaced.

This book was well written with enough character depth to keep me interested but not be too complicated. I'm ooking forward to the next book.

Is Good fiction

Good read for the adventure. Can not imagine the Heaven or Hell portrayed. But then again Dante was pretty far fetched too.
