This story concerns someone trying to escape the small town existence and chasing her dreams in Manhattan only to discover that she’s been chasing the wrong dream!

Imagine being brought up in the hometown your ancestors not only founded but had named after them…. Now imagine not liking everyone minding your business but the township being so small that everyone knows everything almost before you’ve done anything. That’s what it seemed like to Tessa Cutter who grew up in Cutter’s Creek before, abo

The HomeTown Hoax was an OK read.

The writing was done well and the storyline was fairly engaging but I failed to connect with Tessa, this played a part in my overall enjoyment. On the plus side was Logan's character, he made the book for me, he was a sweetheart and I really liked him.

The Hometown Hoax is a funny and romantic read that will leave you wanting for more...

Hoping to get feature at a gallery, she has sent some of her best work to just about every gallery in NYC, but has only received no as an answer. Easy to read feel good romance. That's how I would classify this one. It wasn't great. Sadly, there was nothing about it that made me want to shout for everyone to read it. It was good enough though. There wasn't any reason to not finish it once I started. The premise sounded intriguing, but I really expected a little more of a hoax.

Tessa is forced to spend a week camping with her family. I didn't really understand the point of this camping trip. They were so close to their town that a short dr

Tessa Cutter has always had big city dreams and the desire to escape small town living and leave every thing she knows behind. She is living in Manhattan now and living out her dreams and doing what she loves, and has no regrets about leaving her small town life behind. When her family invites her home for a family camping trip she is reluctant about returning home, mainly because her family will badger her about settling down, so she constructs the perfect plan to avoid it all. She creates a fa ...more

I would have to say that this was a good read. I thought it pretty predictable but it was a sweet story and well written.

Tessa is a young lady that has moved to Manhattan to try and make a go of her artist career. She never liked her home town that she grew up in and is doing everything she can to not have to go back there, except for the fact that her family lives there, she might have gotten away with it. When Tessa goes back for a camping weekend with her family, she never expected to run int

My Thoughts:

After reading and loving The Hookup Hoax, I knew I had to check out more by Heather Thurmeier. The premise of this one caught my eye, and once I started reading, I was enveloped in the world. Tessa left her hometown of Cutter's Creek for the big city and now that she's back for vacation, she couldn't be less pleased. She meets Logan in an unfortunate way, causing her to have an instant dislike toward him. After being fo

With The Hometown Hoax, Ms. Thurmeier composed a story that is somewhat idealistic but cute none the lest. This read reminded me of the saying " one person's junk may be another's treasure." Tessa saw Cutter's Creek for everything it lacked and was not. Maybe because it was her hometown and she wanted more than to be cut off from new experiences, new people and a different environment. Logan saw it in the opposite way because he had already experienced fast paced living and adventurous experienc ...more

I enjoyed this story of finding what you're looking for in the place you least expect. Logan's character really appealed to me, as a strong and determined man who has pulled up his boot straps after his gym business in NYC failed and moved to the small town of Cutter's Creek where he's got a new job as a gym teacher. He hasn't given up on his dream to open a successful gym, he's just had to modify it. I admired his patience and positive attitude. Tessa on the other hand is struggling with her dr ...more

I enjoyed this book about small town life and two people who meet and are on totally different wave lengths about what they want out of life at the beginning of the book.

Tessa Cutter literally collides with Logan Ridley as they are driving into town. She is steaming mad about the car in front of her that stopped for no reason and he accuses her of texting or putting on makeup and not watching where she was going. In the end, it turns out Logan stopped suddenly to avoid hitting a deer and Tessa

2.5-3 stars.

To be honest, this wasn’t a favorite of mine.

There’s Tessa and Logan, spending a week at a cabin with Tessa’s family. Tessa lives in NYC, and has no interest in going back to her hometown to settle. Something her family doesn’t agree, all they want is for her to come back for good. Have to say, I wasn’t a fan of that at all. Enough already, people, she doesn’t want to live there, let her be for once. It was super annoying, and kinda ragey, the way they treated her, with zero respect,

The Hometown Hoax is a standalone contemporary romance from author Heather Thurmeier that has Tessa Cutter creating a fake boyfriend to hold off her family's suggestions for her to return to their hometown of Cutter's Creek permanently. Meeting and falling for Logan Ridley, a former city dweller himself, was something she hadn't planned for. It's as if they've

Tessa left her small hometown to live her own life away from neighbors and family knowing her business and life. She wants to make it in the art world and New York is the city for that. Logan has to start over in a small town since New York beat him and he lost everything. When a camping trip brings both to Cutter's edge for a week family visit, the two are thrown together in the most unexpected way. After a car wreck and then her mother sticking them in the same cabin, the chemisty is too much. ...more

This book had me hooked from the first page and as the story progresses I just couldn’t help myself as I am a sucker for romance. There was just enough of everything to make me love the story. I liked Tessa and Logan, it was awesome seeing how their friendship grew to become so much more. This makes me agree with the fact that the special person in your life should be your friend first, nothing wrong if they aren’t. Maybe they will become your friend later? Don’t ever listen to me about relation ...more

I really enjoyed this one. It's light and fun, nothing too deep but completely entertaining. Cute and intriguing characters and a nice story at the core.

Tessa Cutter fled her small hometown for a couple reasons. First, her desire to make something of her art career. Secondly, her family is driving her crazy. She loves them but their meddling is just too much. Now she's back for a family camping trip where she meets the very hot Logan Ridley. He's a new arrival to Cutter Creek but it seems he's v

Love this book it is very relatable to me. It is about girl name Tessa she move to the city to get out of her small town which everyone knows everyone. Everyone will know what you do in one day for the town loves to gossip while in the city no one knows you really she wants to branch out for her art. While Logan who always been city recently moves to her hometown which he likes since the people are humble and it is a peaceful place. If you are a private person, then I imagine that living with an overly nosy family in a small town where everyone knows your business and sees nothing wrong with talking about it would feel like being in a fishbowl, especially if your family is the equivalent of royalty in the town. Tessa Cutter hightailed it to New York to pursue her dream to be a successful artist as soon as she could and has no plans to return to her small town except for brief family visits. She's back for the family's annua ...more

Enjoyed this fast paced, sweet, sexy, entertaining, and well written romance, that captured my attention from the beginning until the end. I enjoyed the fun witty banter and the sexy, chemistry between Logan and Tessa. Also enjoyed the entertaining ways the secondary characters manipulate and plot behind their backs hoping to push these two together.

I have received a copy of this book from NetGalley/Entangled Publishing for an honest review. "The Hometown Hoax" by Heather Thurmeier is Tessa Cutter and Logan Ridley's story.

Tessa has moved away from her little hometown to Manhattan to see if she can get her art work noticed. Logan, personal trainer, has moved from Manhattan to Tessa's little hometown since he could not compete with the personal trainer store chains. Logan is working temporarily as a physical education teacher but hopes to sta

I’m a city girl for sure, but I’ve always wondered if it would be as awesome as it seems in books to live in a small town where everyone knows everyone. The Hometown Hoax is a great example of both the good and the bad of living in a small town. I felt really bad for Tessa and completely understood why she felt the need to make up a fake boyfriend. Her family was out of control with their overbearingness. Even after she’s told them about her boyfriend, they still try to push her into the arms of ...more
This is book #3, in The Hoax Series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader enjoyment and understanding, I recommend reading in order.

Logan met Tessa when he gave her a ride into town after an accident.  Later, they find out there is a familial connection.  He is friends with her brother.  What he does not understand, is how he is so attracted to her even after she has rejected him repeatedly.
