With its beautiful full-page illustrations, this book is not only a treat for children, but for the parents as well. In addition to reading the story, there is a multitude of details to explore in the colorful and impressive pictures. In contrast to modern animation-like picture books with defined contours, clear colors and reduced content the images in this book seem more vibrant, exploding with colors and overflowing with detail, reminding me of old paintings.

This beautifully illustrated children’s book is an origin story of Santa Claus. Narrated by an elf, we are taken on a journey through a tough time in the North Pole where the evil King has put a ban on Christmas, celebrations, and even laughter.

But the Elves envisage a better future for themselves and together they set out to find the one person who can stop the King. The one person who knows the importance of the spirit of Christmas, and that is the King’s brother h

This is a nice Christmas story that parents will enjoy reading to their children. I don't think that young children will be reading this on their own. Younger children may need a few things explained to them during this story. This is the beginning of the legend of the North Pole and Santa Clause. There is a mean king here and the elves are treated badly. Each elf has a certain ability that makes them each special. The king wants all elves to bow to him and they aren't sure this is what they wan ...more

The Book of Kringle: Legend of the North Pole by Derek Velez Partridge with Mary Packard is a lovely storybook for children!

This book is so clever in its storytelling which can be a rarity for children’s books. I loved the intricacy of the storyline. It is engaging for adults and kids. I also fell in love with the illustrations created by David Wenzel. They are absolutely beautiful!

The Book of Kringle is a perfect addition to your Christmas storybook lineup!

I received an electronic copy of this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
It is a picture book which tells an origin story of Santa Claus narrated by an elf. It is the story about how the North Pole is won by Santa Claus and the elves from a greedy King who is Santa Claus' brother. It is a good story with a lot of action, a good message and wonderful illustrations. It does not discuss the religious aspect of Christmas, just the Santa Claus story. My six year-old really enjoyed it.

The gorgeous, jewel coloured full page illustrations bring this child's festive story to vibrant life. It is a tale about the origins of Santa Claus with a nice message about each person having a special talent that is not always immediately obvious thrown in. The pictures are definitely what makes this tale special and would ensure the book would be treasured by both children and adults alike. There's so much to see on each page that the inevitable rereadings would be a delight instead of the u ...more

This is an absolutely visually stunning book. The illustrations are gorgeous, full-page, colourful and children can spend a lot of time exploring them. The story is short and cute. It takes place in the North Pole where a greedy king is making the elves mine crystals so he can sell them and get rich. His brother, is happy, light-hearted, loving, everything his brother is not. When King Kringle decrees there will be no more Christmas, Manusol the elf steps in and comes up with a plan. When the ki ...more

A very short but sweet story about elves trying to save The North Pole and Christmas from a grumpy King. However, the real beauty of this book lies in the fantastic illustrations. Absolutely gorgeous.
