I found this book to be a "go between" between the last book and the next in the series.

We don't get many visits from the Zoms since it's winter and I think most of this is leading up to the next book.

There are some deaths of key players

Build Up... are the best words I can think of to describe this book

Told from Axl, Vivian, Ginny and Jon POV's

I really enjoyed this one! I have been having such a good time with this series and am so glad that I happened upon it. This book is the fifth book in the Broken World series which really does need to be read in order since each book picks up right where the previous one left off. At this point, I really feel like I know all of these characters and am eager to see them survive in their harsh world. This book was just a really great r

New World is book five of the Broken World series. I love this series mega much, it’s very hard to find a good zombie book, but I will be honest and say it wasn’t my favorite. I even took one break! BUT the BEST part of this book is JON’s POV!!!!!

I feel like New World was kind of a filler book, not completely, but there are points where I questioned if it was necessary or needed. Just some parts of the book, not all, regardless, I still adore the book.

Winter is upon our group of survivors , that means very minimal zombie action and more of dealing with humans ... Loved that the book was divided between 4 PoV's... we get a Jon POV as well omg I can't! The guy is madly in love Hadley/Ginny and wants to make everything right for her .. the other pov includes Vivian , Axl and Ginny ... Speaking of Vivian and Axl , umm what's up with you guys !!! These were my relationship goals during a zombie apocalypse... always there for each other , but their ...more

These books are like candy to me. I have come to love these characters so much. This series is my cure to the January blues.

This is book 5 of the series and the writing just keeps getting better with every book. I find they never have a huge plot to pull the story. Instead we get similar to the previous book, being more about character moments and arcs rather than big twists and turns. Much more interesting in my opinion.

Vivian and Axl are trying to pull the group through a rough winter at the g

I have really been enjoying this lady's series a LOT! I'm taking my sweet time with it because one - it's too good to blaze through it. Two - I have other stuff I'm reading, too, and I like to kind of keep a little bit of balance here. Three - did I mention how good it is and it shouldn't just be torn through like a kid at Christmastime? ;) Wow, Kate, you know how to make a girl go through the whole gambit of emotions! One page had me going, 'OH, yeah, this is amazing,' and then the next page... ...more

So there was me, with The Walking Dead withdrawal symptoms and in need of more zombie apocalypse stuff, when I remembered this series I'd meant to keep up with. I re-read the first and the second, then decided to get this next one. I have no longer got episode 4, Lost World, as I'd downloaded it on Kindle Unlimited, and I have a shocking memory, but, happily, most of the story made its way back into my head as I started reading this, and I discovered that it actually works okay as a sta

This is the fifth book in the Broken World series, which I adore. This series is full of action and excitement and incredibly complex characters. This fifth installment lives up to the rest of the series. It focuses a lot more on Jon and Hadley, who got separated from the group in the last book. It was kind off refreshing to see something new. Jon and Hadley might be my two favorite characters now (though, of course, I

Vivian, Axl and their group have finally found a safe place. Things are looking up in some ways but in others they're still very difficult especially with the loss of so many people.

Jon and Ginny don't know what happened to the rest of the group but in Hope Springs they have found a life.

Times are tough as winter sets in but everyone is doing what they can to survive. The biggest questions come with the uncertainty of the future and what will happen down the road.

I for one have become obsessed w

This series is masterly amazing.

This series I could not put down. I am not really the type to write a review but I had to. Ms. Mary has put a lot of effort in the characters. It is not the type of feel me good or all the characters never dies. I loved the ups and downs. I loved the flow of the story as it goes. I could not put the books down. I read all five books within 4 days. Ms Mary has really out done herself. She really brought me into the story like I am right there with them. I feel like
I really loved Jon and Ginny's storyline, and I've grown to love Angus. I wish there wasn't such a major cliffie though...that's a bummer!

At least this book answered a lot of questions left by books one through 4, and it offered some hope too.
Still didn't like the ending.

This was probably m least favorite book of the series, and the most unnecessary. It felt like the author threw this one in there for filler. Basically, nothing happened. Vivian and Axl and the rest of the group spent the ENTIRE book avoiding Hope Springs because Axl had a "bad feeling." It was so freaking frustrating since Jon and Ginny were there and there was NOTHING bad about it. It pissed me off to have the entire book be about avoiding a place where they could get reunited with their friend ...more

Surviving a harsh winter in Colorado during the Zombie Apocalypse truly tests ones want and need to stay alive. By this book in the series, I feel this is so much more than a series about a killer virus and zombies. The characters have an invested interest in each other. In a way, they feel like family. They irritate each other as family often does. They also work as a team to survive and watch each others backs. They've come to love and care about one another. When one dies at the hands of zomb ...more

Kate L Mary brings another layer to a wonderful executed story line with New World, Book 5 in the Broken World series. You MUST absolutely read this series in order to follow along with her band of survivors.

New World is a story of coming together and resettling. Mary has placed her characters behind closed gates safe from zombies, but still brings havoc to their lives as this group licks their wounds since the apocalypse happened. Facing the pain, heart break and fear head one, these survivors

Times are tough during a zombie apocalypse, and winter is no different. It’s harder for the characters to go on supply runs, hunt, or even bury their dead (my lips are sealed, so don’t ask)

Vivian’s group is surviving inside of their gated community. A few are taking the losses from the other books in the series exceptionally hard.

Hadley and Jon become contributing members of the community that took them in. There’s plenty of work for them to do, everything from clearing the streets to cafet
I really enjoyed the change of pace with this book - more about survival basics and dealing with wintertime than zombies. Not that there isn't action or suspense, but it's a slightly different kind.

Parv and Brady continue to be my fave characters, even though I know I shouldn't have any faves what with how often people get killed off in this series. I think part of it is that, at least currently, they're both very different from the other characters in the main group.

The ending felt kind of abru

Surviving a zombie apocalypse is hard, but through in a rough winter and survival is just made more difficult. Deep snow makes obtaining supplies and food extremely hard. Jon and Hadley become thriving members of the new community that they become part of after getting separated from the rest of the group. This book deals with the harsh reality of just surviving every day and trying to make some sort of "normal" in the craziness of the zombie apocalypse. The realities are bleak, but the book end ...more
The full review can be found under book 1 of the Broken World Series by Kate L. Mary.

Although the first 4 books in this series were great zombie entertainment, the last 2 books lacked. And it felt like it was only with the goal ahead to start a new series, the twisted world Series.

To live side by side through four books with characters to get such a sloppy and unsatisfied ending, was not a good experience.

New World

This is a fantastic apocalyptic series. You get to read about everything from the beginning into everyday concerns that you might not have thought of. This fifth book has a slightly more mellow ending than the previous ones, but still keeps your interest on getting book six and quickly continuing with the story.
I have really enjoyed this series and New World has kicked it up a notch. The survivors continues to struggle with acquiring supplies and ensuring their safety. All while the interpersonal conflicts and opposing viewpoints threaten to split up the group.I'm loving the newest member Brady and am quite curious about his story.

This series could have been so much better with a little hope. Is that what it takes to write a zombie apocalypse book? I sure hope not. I want to rate this book lower but I couldn’t put it down. I have to get the author her due. Love those country boys including Angus. Smh
