This is a comprehensive book that every secondary science teacher should use: novice or veteran. It is effective in laying out the history of secondary science instruction in the U.S., summarizing the National Science Education Standards findings and goals, developing effective ways to teach and analyze student achievement, and collaborate with colleagues. It's a science methods course in and of itself.

A great resource for teachers and even parents trying to improve science literacy, and literacy in general, in 6-12th grade students.
