Rate this book
A Primer on Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) by Joseph F. Hair, Jr., G. Tomas M. Hult, Christian Ringle, and Marko Sarstedt is a practical guide that provides concise instructions on how to use partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), an evolving statistical technique, to conduct research and obtain solutions. Featuring the latest research, new examples using the SmartPLS software, and expanded discussions throughout, the Second Edition is designed to be easily understood by those with limited statistical and mathematical training who want to pursue research opportunities in new ways.

Einstein said that things should be made as simple as possible - but no simpler. I suspect that Joseph Hair and his co-authors have made partial least squares as simple as possible in their Primer. At the same time, some of their material is very challenging to follow.

I gave this book a thorough reading, but I haven’t gotten a copy of the SmartPLS software. I’m going to reread the book when I get the software and work on some analyses as I go through the book a second time. I think that my understanding will be much improved.

The first reading was worth my time. I learned a lot, but still have miles to travel before I become proficient at PLS-SEM.

This book is very essential for Smart PLS users, it doesn't cover the literature of the Partial Least Squares (PLS) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), it also guides the users to use the software properly. It is the bible of Smart PLS for postgraduate students.
