Magazine associate Marcella Tartaglia dreams of taking over as editor, but her pursuit of the position is complicated after she meets William Stafford, a vicar and the son of the Eighteenth Viscount of Wiltshire.
I really enjoyed the romance of this book, which was clean since William was an English Vicar. He meets Marcella ,at his aunt's marriage where he is attending. She is quite swept away with his British charm, and good looks, but has no idea what he does for a living. It was a story of desperation, and decision, and love. She has been waiting to be appointed to the head editor position , of the magazine she works for, while he is enveloped in an English cottage, and a delightful village, where he sincerely cares for the people. Her life and future. are in New York, while clearly his lies in England. Figuring out how this could all work out, and avoiding the sex, besides kissing, is a strain on both of them. He wants a long term relationship, and she isn't sure what her heart really wants. The only problem I had with the book was the language. There was no need of it, and the heavy sexual. innuendos . The funny mishaps by his brother were one thing, but it needed to decide which type of book it wanted to be. William, was in all ways doing his best to remain true to his faith, and find a wife. Some parts made you laugh, while others were out of place and offensive. I took a star away for that purpose . The ending was very good... ..
UGH, my review was lost. Oh well. It wasn't bad but it wasn't awesome. Merits 3 stars because it did make me literally LOL a few times and smile others. However, the overuse of 'like', as in Valley-Girl-speak, was annoying. It made the main character seem ditzy and she obviously wasn't supposed to actually BE that sort of person. The 'love at first sight' seemed reasonably plausible and was not treated as thought it happened all the time and the characters were even sufficiently thoughtful about it. However, the ending seemed a little too convenient and a bit lame, despite ending as I thought it should.
Career minded Marcella falls in love with an English vicar when on assignment one weekend in a small Cotswald village. How can this relationship work? Not the best or most original romance I've read lately. Kind of predictable. The dialogue was somewhat stale and bits of the story were simply unbelievable. It wasn't completely awful, but I wouldn't recommend it.
This book answers one of the age old questions, What exactly will a woman do for love? It's a quick and easy read and rather predictable. But it's a great beach read or you want a light story and happy ending.
I've really enjoyed the special twist Lisa Norato gives to her books. From reviews I've seen five stars from everyone. Other Books of hers are" Prise of My Heart, The Promise Keeper, and Where Eagles Fly...
Struggling to continue reading I ended in Choosing to not finish this novel due to excessive obscenities and offensive language inappropriate to characters or that reflected negatively on their understood behaviours.
This book was so entertaining I couldn't stop reading it. A fun, feel-good read. The style of colorful and descriptive writing made me feel I was inside the setting with the characters.
Meah. The characters were one dimensional, and there was no real depth. There were some comedic moments, but overall, this was just a quick read with no emotional attachment to the characters.
