If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans

Rate this book
“Uttering lines that send liberals into paroxysms of rage, otherwise known as ‘citing facts,’ is the spice of life. When I see the hot spittle flying from their mouths and the veins bulging and pulsing above their eyes, well, that’s when I feel truly alive.”

So begins If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans , Ann Coulter’s funniest, most devastating, and, yes, most outrageous book to date.

Coulter has become the brightest star in the conservative firmament thanks to her razor-sharp reasoning and biting wit. Of course, practically any time she opens her mouth, liberal elites denounce Ann, insisting that “She’s gone too far!” and hopefully predicting that this time it will bring a crashing end to her career.

Now you can read all the quotes that have so outraged her enemies and so delighted her legions of fans. More than just the definitive collection of Coulterisms, If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans includes dozens of brand-new commentaries written by Coulter and hundreds of never-before-published quotations. This is Ann at her best, covering every topic from A to Z. Here you’ll read Coulter’s take

• Her “As far as I’m concerned, I’m a middle-of-the-road moderate and the rest of you are crazy.”
• Hillary “Hillary wants to be the first woman president, which would also make her the first woman in a Clinton administration to sit behind the desk in the Oval Office instead of under it.”
• The “God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, ‘Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It’s yours.’”
• “It’s become increasingly difficult to distinguish the pronouncements of the Episcopal Church from the latest Madonna video.”
• Global “The temperature of the planet has increased about one degree Fahrenheit in the last century. So imagine a summer afternoon when it’s 63 degrees and the next thing you know it’s . . . 64 degrees. Ahhhh!!!! Run for your lives, everybody! Women and children first!”
• Gun “Mass murderers apparently can’t read, since they are constantly shooting up ‘gun-free zones.’”
• Bill “Bill Clinton’s library is the first one to ever feature an Adults Only section.”
• Illegal “I am the illegal alien of commentary. I will do the jokes that no one else will do.”

If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans is a must-have for anyone who loves (or loves to hate) Ann Coulter.

A book of Coulter quotes? This book is probably not for me.

Although with gems like these, perhaps I should reconsider...
“I know Jesus Christ died for my sins and that’s all I really need to know.”
—And that is probably all she really does know.

“I love to engage in repartee with people who are stupider than I am.”
—But where would she find these people?

“The fact that a Republican is in the late Senator Kennedy’s old seat probably must have him rolling in his grave, probably spilling his drink.”
—Okay, that one is pretty funny.
Funny, but not funny enough to convince me ever to read this.

You cannot go lower than Ann Coulter. She displays an absolute lack of logic, not to mention compassion. More trees, less Ann Coulter, please.

I read this book just to see whether Ann Coulter was as despicable as she was made out to be. Well, she's not. She's worse.

This book is filled with "quotations" from Ms. Coulter's published works, which she's at pains to ascertain, are all bestsellers. It's an unbelievable compendium of hatred towards the "other" - Hitler could take lessons from her. I guess people who laugh at insults directed at others would find her funny.

But I honestly don't know why Ms. Coulter is so "anti - Darwin". Conservatives of her ilk are the best examples of the fact that human beings evolved from the lower life forms. In fact, some of them never fully evolved.

All liberals are stupid traitors.

There, I just saved you the trouble of having to read this book, because that's all Ann has to say.
It's all she ever has to say.

I've tried a couple of her books trying to figure out what the big deal is and still don't get it.
She's not terribly funny, insightful or thought provoking.
If she believes everything she says, then I think she's insane, and if it's all an act, it comes across as a kid saying a rude word in church to get attention.

I don't so much hate her books, as I'm baffled to why anyone would like them.

"Bill Clinton's library is the first one to ever feature an Adults Only section."

"If the Democrats want to stay in the middle of the road, why do they keep sticking with Teddy Kennedy? Didn't he have some trouble staying in the middle of the road?"

These are just a few gems from Ann Coulter's latest. It was a fun, quick read. She is absolutely brilliant!

And one last one: "Bill Clinton: He left a mark on history that may never come out!"

I read this book as part of the task, "read about a subject you disagree with." After seeing some people read books about adultery or polygamy or hookers, I really wish I went with one of those. At least they would've been entertaining.

Previous reviews, as well as Coulter herself, say that liberals don't like her because she is scary and right. Well this liberal doesn't like her because she is everything I dislike in humanity. She lumps all liberals together as one brainless blob of baby-murdering, America hating morons. There were several times I had to read the lines to someone else because I couldn't believe that someone would say things like that. Say things just to be shocking and say that liberals should cower before her. And what's even greater about this display of literary genius, it isn't even any new material. It's just a mash-up of all her other "witty" quotes.

I think it is interesting that people always describe her as being so amazing because she is a beautiful woman, yet she has no problems demeaning women and saying they shouldn't have the right to vote. I would quote some of her crazier stuff but I was all too happy to return this book to the library as soon as I was done with it.

What can I say? I love her frankness!!! She makes me laugh out loud and call my friends and relatives. Keep in mind, if you keep up with her (online, other books, interviews, etc.) you will be disappointed to find nothing new, but she states that in the beginning of this book. It's basically a little black book for liberals to carry around to be able to quote her accurately and be enraged w/out much effort on digging for her quotes (loosely her explanation). I didn't rate it a 5 because I don't keep up with politics enough to know ALL the names of the people she berates. To say she has a sharp tongue is definitely putting it mildly but it's good to see a strong, successful, beautiful, (blonde) intelligent woman who is secure enough to tell it like it is and is conservative! I love that she absolutely drives liberals crazy. Anyone who stands up for what they believe, actually does research to make sure what they believe is has a point and is accurate, AND is not afraid to not only defend it but massacres others who try to disagree, has my vote. I'll read every book she writes with a smile on my face.

Let me preface this by saying that I am not giving this a bad review because I disagree with everything Coulter says; that would be too easy. This book was bad simply because it was SO...DARN...BORING. Seriously, I kept waiting to see her wit (and believe me, I am more than willing to laugh at liberals and Democrats and just about anything else), and let's just say I am still waiting. And she wasn't saying anything new; the book was mainly excerpts from previous books and interviews. Very clever marketing and playing on the capitalist economy--make money without exerting much effort--and for that, she's true to form. Wow, she must really hate libraries--they buy her book so that more people don't have to.

Anyway, it was boring. I think I need to try one of her other books to see if she says anything new, or just re-quotes herself.

How do you compete with Ann? Beautiful, smart, funny, and most important, RIGHT. Ann's witticisms are a treasure for all Americans, exposing the idiocy of the left one scorcher at a time.

Whether you like Ann Coulter or not and you either love her or hate her. She does do her research, and I know the points can be proven toward the right as well. She is a lot of fun, and if you have ever heard her interviewed you hear her speaking what she says in her book in that almost shouting voice she uses to make a point.
She's who she is, and you know this before picking up this book, that being said, its a fun read backed up with lots and lots of foot notes.

This book is largely a catalogue of Ann's quotations, organized into chapters by subject. Most of the sayings are funny, all are incisive, and the whole book is very entertaining.

Ann Coulter’s books are my guilty pleasure; I disagree with virtually everything she says and stands for yet I buy them and read them fastidiously. (This is more than I can say about how she writes them!) Her attempted jokes are never funny but her serious points are often unintentionally hilarious. I would not be surprised if she turns out to actually be a fictional character created by some ironic liberal comedienne just as Borat and Bruno are to Sasha Baron Cohen.
If you only read one of Coulter’s books then it should be this one. In Godless and Slander she at least attempted to form a coherent argument in the format of her text; even if the substance was often laughable gibberish. This book just contains some of her quotes taken out of context so her critics cannot do it for her. Short of books with deranged titles like ‘Our Mysterious Spaceship Moon’ I would be hard pressed to name a book that was so unintentionally funny that did not carry Karl Pilkington’s name on the cover.
The one star rating I give this book is based upon the fact that just above the ISBN number on the back cover it states that this book’s genre is ‘Current Affairs/Reference – Quotations’ – if it turns out that this is actually an example of Guerrilla Comedy a la Borat I will immediately change the rating to a full five stars!

Coulter is unrealistic and false. It's obvious she isn't really a moderate. She really has no brains, because she believes all Democrats suck. Well then I hope she doesn't vote, because we know she'll vote someone in just because they are Republican. Her facts are biased. I wouldn't believe any of her stuff in this book, because it is completely skewed. Stop buying her books and read part of her book online, because it's not worth to chop down a tree for one of her books. If you want real facts I would choose something that isn't complete yelling like she's doing, I would find something that has good and bad about both sides, and do you homework when you vote, because you'll end up with someone you really don't want. The resources are out there. Educate yourself. By the way the polls show every year that people or make higher income usually vote Democrat, so Coulter they really do have a brain. It's Coulter that doesn't have a brain.

At the end of this book, Ann Coulter says "Finally, a word to those of you out there who have yet to be offended by something I have written or said: Please be patient, I'm working as fast as I can." This sums up the book pretty well. It was refreshing to hear someone not afraid to speak their mind and often her statements were quite clever and funny. But you have to take everything she says with a sprinkle of salt...or better yet with a tablespoon of sugar. I had never heard Ann Coulter before but I knew her by reputation. This book was primarily about criticizing democrats and muslims and poking fun at various liberal politicians and a collection of her favorite quotes herself. It was also gives her a chance to brag about how well her books sell even though every time she writes a book liberals declare that her career is now over because she's "gone to far".

Ann Coulter, such a sad sad person. demanding attention by being a total pinhead. It appears that her world has only room for 1 and a very pathetic one. Hate and bile are her stock in trade. I didn't buy this book but it was gien to me by a very conservative republican of whom I have great debates. He said read this you will understand why the party is falling apart and that the ultra right is stealing the party!

3.6/10

A lost bet and 20 months later, I’ve finally crossed the finish line of this heap of trash. I will never understand how this became a best seller.
The title had so much potential, but literally delivered nothing. It was nothing but a self-centered ego stroke. I can’t stand people like this who just complain and don’t come with actual policy ideas. She literally just self quoted for pages and pages.

She should have called it “Ann’s take on being hateful.” I cannot comprehend why people live with such fear and hate. However, I’ll give her a point for the fact that she is right that we have developed a nature for attacking people’s appearance, especially women. She also gets a few points for the fact that swapping the word liberal for conservative, would be applicable in a few instances for todays GOP. Could make for a fun drinking game, if it didn’t make your blood pressure go up so much!

This book is very controversial in its remarks and questions/discusses all aspects of life. She makes many ridiculous remarks, but behind the racist and anti-semitic skin, she makes logical and interesting points. Coming from a republican background, though not as conservative as Anne, I can appreciate some of her points. The points she makes are debatable but the structure of the book is very interesting and well done. She divides the book into chapters based on a hot political subject, she then gives a brief analysis followed but humorous and interesting quotes from her past. If someone does read this book they must go in open-minded and be willing to understand and endure racist, sexist and anti-semitic jokes.

OKAY just to clear the air:
I've been scheming about how I could read ann coulter and her ridiculous nonsense without having to actually pay for it, and then i remembered the existence of libraries now that I'm back in america. This does two things: 1) keeps from actually supporting ms. coulter and 2) keeping any republican nut job who actually agrees with this nut from propelling this wackyness.

this is going to be a good read.

Coulter is an incredibly spiteful person filled with a ridiculous amount of hate for anyone who disagrees with her. This is book a list of quotes chosen by herself, so she could easily present herself in a good light. Even still, she comes across as nasty and not particularly smart, not using a single fact or reference in her whole book. Inside she opts for cheap sensational insults designed to grab attention at the expense of a reasoned argument.

Same rules apply as to other Coulter books. If you are sensitive to criticism or a staunch Democrat don't even try to understand Ann's opinions and humor. She WILL get under your skin. Interesting viewpoints delivered in a humorous, if somewhat Don Rickles fashion. Listened to the Audible version.

If Republicans Had Any Brains...oh wait, that's a paradox, isn't it?

That's a little mean. But after reading Ann Coulter's book...well, she doesn't exactly do anything to defeat that generalisation.

I tend to enjoy Ms. Coulter. Not because I agree with all her opinions, but if you take away the showboating and insults she does make relevant points that others don't have the convinction to.
I've read most of her books and enjoyed parts of them. But this book is terrible. It isn't even a book. It's a mashup of quotes and short introductions about how much liberals hate her and then lists quotes as to why they hate her.
I've had many of the quote lists at work and I would rather re-read my own quote lists than read hers, which when all totalled up just make her look like an ass.

I haven't read the bolk, yet i feel the urgent need to warn people against it. I mean, look at the title : you can already say this woman has a serious problem. Then look at the resume. Excuse me? Rape the planet? Did you actually HEARD God say that? No you didn't. Not to mention the fact she doesn't believe in climate change ? Honestly, I would prefer global cooling: at least if I was cold, I could burn down her books- and gladly, may I add.
Maybe I'm judging a book by its cover.
But look at the cover.
I can't be wrong.

The only reason I read (audiobooked) this is because I found it on my parents' bookshelf when I was like 8 and thought I was a republican and the title went so hard and then I recently remembered it again. I wasn't the target audience then and still am not now. But now I've read it.

This is the perfect bathroom book!

I was not expecting what this book was...I didn't realize it was only going to be a collection of short quips from her columns, interviews, and tv appearances. I know this was done deliberately but because there was no real continuity I was actually bored.

I say this is a bathroom book because, not to put to finer a point on it, that is where most of the reading should be done. The entries were short enough to read a couple subjects at a time in maybe 5 minute intervals. It reminded me of those "Bathroom Books" I have seen in bookstores where they have only a couple pages per subject...

I surprise people reading Ann Coulter. I appreciate her wit and her biting politically-incorrect humor. But since this book only looked like her being lazy and collecting all her best one-liners through the last 7 years--and about her making money on the sales--I was not impressed.

The only reason this book is not 1 star is because the liners are very funny. I would love to have been able to be able to write a few down to keep them for when I feel like making a bleeding-heart wail and gnash their teeth (always entertaining!)

I will continue reading her columns and books, but this one simply was not impressive.
