The man made of stars is hard at work every night, bringing more and more light to the world, bit by bit. But what is his secret, and where does he go every evening when he walks out past town with his lantern twinkling? This is the story of one curious child who, determined to come up with an answer to this mystery, discovers something incredible about himself. It is a reminder that small acts have great consequences, and that there is always room for more light in the world.
Every night when the sky is richly painted with lush shades of pink, blue and gold, there is a man who carries a bag on his bag and a lantern in his hands.
The little boy has seen him walking in the forest, the young boy longs to know the secret of the man who walks were the forest and the field meet.
Scattering stars from his bag, the man tosses them liberally up, up in the sky.
One night, the young boy meets the man who scatters the stars, and learns that each one is named for a specific emotion, kindness, love and happiness.
The man who scatters the stars, gave the boy the brightest star to throw high into the sky. Thus, a new star is born, one that the boy will recognize because it holds a very special emotional part of the boy.
This book contains exquisite illustrations, accompanied by a lovely tale of a boy who learns that he holds the secret of the stars, and that when he is kind, and loving, he discovers that his small acts have wonderful consequences that live on in the light of the world.
A sweet story with an understated message. Might have earned another star if I cared for the illustrations. So much twinkling on Earth the stars did not shine through.
The illustrations are by far one of my favorites I've seen in a children's picture book in a very long time! I want to start off by thanking Compendium Inc and Alita Joy from @abookaffair on YouTube, for sending me these books in the October giveaway she hosted.
This was a beautiful story with gorgeous art to match. I will definitely be reading this to my niece and hopefully my own kids one day.
I loved The Man Made of Stars as much as my daughter (4). She was fascinated with the pictures. The message the book delivers is much needed in this world. The pictures are incredible.
I wish I'd had this book with wonderful, ethereal illustrations when I was a child. I'd sure have been looking for the man made of stars at twilight in my own town. A lovely cross between a modern fairy tale and just-so story, though the message about stars and children's potential to improve humanity is a bit heavy-handed.
This is another exceptionally charming picture book.
M.H. Clark wrote the words and Lisa Evans created the world the little boy saw. The huge sky filled with twinkling lights and the people in his town.
What could be so wonderful about the little boy, because the man made of stars, gives him his own, bright light to shine. Did he make someone very happy that day? Was that why the light was warm and glowing in his hand?
When the boy releases the light will the kindness he gave out that day spill over to become a new star?
This is another book I'll share with younger members of my family. It's heartwarming.
The art in this book is simply stunning! Lisa Evans has such an exquisite style with a wonderful, delicate colour palette! Unfortunately, the story was underwhelming with a message that is too obvious.
The illustrations are so beautiful and dreamy and the story is poignant. I could stare all day at the illustrations. Very easy to read with a beautiful message.
I loved reading this with my four year old. And I know it stuck because this morning when she saw a star in the sky, she wondered if it was put there by the man made of stars.
