The second book of the three part series had its challenges. I really enjoyed the first book of the series but this second effort had a long stretch from about midway through till near the end where Nermesa would find himself facing certain death again and again and again...Each time it would become less and less conceivable that he could survive. Granted, the book is fiction, but what makes great fiction is when the book becomes "real" to me! Will I read the last part of the series? Of course I will! Conan, Sword, Sorcery, I'm in!

One year after joining the Elite guard of Conan, the Black Dragons, Nermesa must prove himself once again... politically, too. Supernatural beings and treachery; mysteries in taverns; an astounding fight in a catacomb; and every chapter ending with a cliffhanger. This time, Nermesa is caught up in an intrigue of royal proportions.
