Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists, Paul Klee is another entertaining and informative edition in this fantastic collection by Mike Venezia. These books are perfect for exposing elementary and junior high aged students to a large variety of artists and styles of art.
Personally, I am not a fan of Klee's modern art style; on several pages I just shook my head and said "I don't get it." However, after reading a bit about him I am impressed that he was creating this art in the early 1900's, when so few were doing so. Also, after learning about the different materials he used, I know I can not fully form an opinion on many of his pieces from viewing them in a book. I doubt the photographic representation of his work can truly show the various textures and layers involved.

It is also a great book so everyone can get the background on the artist so they can feel like they know him when looking at his paintings. I also like how on every page it has a painting he has done. My favorite painting of his was the Yellow Cow. It is done with oil on canvas and I like how the colors are like smudged together. The paint colors are vibrant so that is another thing that sticks out
