Audiobook review. When I first started this book, I wasn’t sure what to expect or even if it would be for me. The beginning depicted a heroine that appeared to be getting validation from how her lifelong crush, our hero, saw her physically. She made changes to herself to make herself more appealing to him. It involved some deception on her part and little regret for the effect of her actions.
As the story went along there was a lot of internalizing. The relationship between two perceived strangers moved rather quickly, evidenced by the introduction of “love” early on. Then we get introduced to Andre and my interest was peaked. The contrast offered by the more experienced man shed light into the personalities that had been crafted for the main characters. He was absolutely vital to the story. He was the catalyst for growth. The story fell into a steady flow from there on. Ultimately, Paul was a little self centered for my liking, his focus even in scenes was primarily on his pay off in my opinion but I liked Emily’s glimpses of strength and together they seemed to balance out.
The narrator had a French lilt when pronouncing words like “particularly”, “brittle”, and “regularly” but his English was otherwise clear. His French gave Andre an absolutely irresistible voice. It was spectacular 🔥. The pace was a bit on the slower side so the 2x speed really worked for me. He had a strong tone.
I am definitely interested in finding out more about Andre and what makes him tick.

Fate by Nikki Sex is an erotic romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Guillaume Dubois. This is the first book in the Fate Duology.
This is the first book of Nikki’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I was pulled in from the very beginning and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I liked the relationship that bloomed between Emily and Paul. Their relationship is a bit messy and unconventional but you can’t help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I can’t wait to listen to the next book in the series Kink so I can get more of Emily and Paul’s story as he introduces her to the BDSM lifestyle.
Guillaume did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of his work in the future.
Note: I tend to not like listening to audiobooks at normal speed. I listened at x2 speed and I thought it was the perfect speed for the narration.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book.
This was a super long listen and some of parts are definitely not for the faint of heart. Very well written if you like a good hardcore BDSM listen but will not be everyone's cup of tea. The characters were damaged but they fit together well and were interesting to follow throughout the two books. Halfway through book two though, there seems to be a distinct change in the writing style.
I thought the narrator did a really good job on this performance. He is new to me. Loved his French accent when he used it for one character. I don't think he would have been my first or favorite pick for this duology but he did the set justice.

I Highly Recommend This Book!
When I first started reading this book I didn't think I was going to like it.
I was SO WRONG!
I gave it a 5 star even though there were a few (very few) editing problems. Really wish someone would properly edit these E-books! The only other problem was a few areas where the story got bound up in TMI. Some details can kill a story & make reading a book laborious. Thank goodness it only happened a few times, and got back to the real story relatively quickly.
The story itself was funny, sexy, romantic and exciting! Fast moving & kept you on your toes. There were instances where you really weren't sure where the story was going to go. I love that uncertainty. While there is always room for improvement, Nikki Sex did an awesome job!

This is the 2nd book about Paul and Emily. It opens with a big 'OMG' that keeps you in suspense throughout the book. This story is so well told that you easily forgive the editing errors. It is mostly written in Paul's point of view. But you also get Emily's perspective throughout.
YES, I gave it 5 stars even though there are editing mistakes. And YES, I deducted points for them. This story was just that remarkably powerful and brilliant.
Here is an example of the type of editing mistakes;
I feel hot puffs warm of warm air against me.
Trust me. I caught each and every error. But the story was so thrilling, the characters so amazing, that for every point I took away for editing errors I had to give back for the eloquence of the story. I know I highlighted and made a huge amount of notes. A lot of them I will be adding to Goodreads as favorite quotes.
The suspense of who the culprit is and if Paul will live keeps you on your toes throughout. You may have an idea, but you really just don't KNOW.
It took me 4 days to read because of its 'Intensity' factor. I had to take breathers! The eroticism is passionate and even profound. Paul has a sadistic side that he refers to as 'The Beast', and he is terrified of that side of himself. His character and Emily's are very complex and expressed in detail.
I loved so many elements in this story. The suspense, the characters, the complexities. If you are a lover of a really good story and adult romances, you so have to read this 2 book series! I can't express enough just how much I loved it!

I listened to this because of the theme of the story. It was a good story and took us through Paul and Emily’s relationship from past to present. I liked the detail into their start and how their exploration happened and where it led them. I loved Emily from the start. Her innocence and how she had lined after her brothers best friend since she was a child. Her deceit got her more than she bargained for and I was interested in how she was going to bring that up and confess.
In Kink... I wasn’t as fond of Paul as I was in Fate! I wasn’t prepared for how hard core he became what seemed like all of a sudden. I liked him better again as the story moved on. An loved him for her in the end!
This was my first Guillaume Dubois listen, I had some difficulty with his pronunciation of the words particularly and regularly... but overall thought he did well with the different voices and nationalities.

Honestly I enjoyed Fate I would give it 3 stars on its own. It was kind of cute and pretty easy to read.
Kink was a whole different experience.
There were several inconsistencies from how Fate had ended. I also didn't love the way that Paul's character was expanded on. He became much more violent then had even been hinted at in Fate. The way their relationship progressed was also upsetting. It did not feel like a healthy BDSM dynamic. It felt like she was being coerced or brainwashed because the kinks just got more extreme and we didn't get to see any of the negotiation. It seemed like Paul made a choice and didn't care if Emily would actually enjoy it for herself.
Overall I would give Kink a 2 star rating. Since I can't give 2.5 stars on Goodreads I had to round up to a 3 star rating.

This is a bargain, two stories for one price. Better yet, no waiting for the second book and believe me, you will be happy to dive right into Kink after listening to Fate. I enjoyed the strong and manipulating ways of Emily. She knew what she wanted, and found a way to get it. The addition of Andre really turns up the heat as Paul and Emily explore a new relationship. I liked the knowledge and patience of Andre and how he was able to push Emily to want to explore more.
Guillaume Dubois has a slight French accent, which was amazing for Andre. Mr. Dubois was able to contain his accent to make Paul and Emily sound as I expected them too. He did read a little slower than I prefer, but he is easy to listen to. Overall the narration was good and enjoyable.

This book was very interesting and I enjoyed it a lot. This was a very well written story of learning to love and trust again. This book was emotional and very heart tugging. I would recommend this book if you love an emotional journey.

This book was very interesting and I enjoyed it a lot. This was a very well written story of learning to love and trust again. This book was emotional and very heart tugging. I would recommend this book if you love an emotional journey.

Rather lengthy and philosophical
Great Read. Some of the BDSM was too much for me, but I skimmed it quickly and went on. The sex scenes were slightly too frequent, repetitive, and lengthy for my taste. By the end, they didn't even evoke a muscle tightening. My one request is, please, Nikki, learn the difference between vice and vise. It is most disconcerting to suddenly read a reference to an official sin when a clamping tension is called for. Your editor should have caught it the first time, let alone ignored it 3 times. And if they were so ignorant, a decent proofreader should have fixed it.

Wow, this book is so explicit! Such details in Nikki’s writing. Excellent storyline, great emotion. Don’t listen to it in public! You will be squirming everywhere! Guillaume is perfect for this role.

Super intense, hot and overall amazing!
This book was amazing! I knew from page one that it was not going to turn out all hunky dory but I give it to Emily for finding a way to get what she wants even though it back-fired for a minute. Oh Paul... this guy.... I felt bad for him in certain aspects but absolutely loved him. I highly suggest that you pick up this book now, you will laugh, cry, squirm and want to yell but it is totally worth it!

This is a fast and enjoyable read! Nikki does it again with brilliantly done characters and story line. Who doesn't like a great love story and hot sexiness with a twist?
I thought it was great fun to watch Emily go get her man by changing into Candy. She was so good at it that Paul wanted her for longer than the one night stand she had planned for. After all, he refused her twice before as Emily, his best friends little sister. But he's wild for Candy! Now what's she gona do? She has loved Paul since childhood, this should be her dream come true, but what happens when he finds out who she really is? Oh what a tangled web......
I absolutely recommend this to adults who enjoy erotic romance with a side of humour

Then a brother he knew nothing about comes to his office and Paul stands there looking at his own face on this guy! Turns out they were born 3 days apart.(part of that crazy story)....So Paul is just overwhelmed at this point. What more could there be you ask? How about ......Paul gets shot!
Yep, someone is still trying to kill him! I was surpirsed to learn the who & the why of it!
There is a lot of Erotic, hot BDSM going on throughout, so Adults only Please.......

Emily is head over heels in love with Paul, but he sees her only as his best friend, no romantic feelings there..but he is oh so wrong..she lies and ahe find a way to make him see what's right in front of him.
I like Emily, because she is in love with Paul, yes, but she is not willing to let him be a jerk and treat her bad..no, she is smart and she knows what she wants and she is determined to get it.
Paul is gorgeous, sure of himself and no way he is going to fall for anyone, because he doesn't trust women..but he finds himself in situations out of his control that will change that.
I get to see Father Jonh and Andrè Chevalier..two of my favourite men!
Love the story and love the end..didn't see that coming!

Disappointing!
I have read so many Nikki Sex books and loved them but these two were a tedious slog to get through. Even the appearance of my all time favourite book character; Andre Chevalier couldn't save them for me.
Boringly repetitive, they seemed to drag on interminably, even though I was listening to the Audible version! Minor details were examined in excruciating detail over and over.
I recognised some of the hallmarks of Nikki Sex in amongst the tedium but the duet really feels like it was originally destined to be a novella then hijacked by someone else to be drawn out to two books!
As for the narration, I really like Guillaume Dubois for mens voices but can't stand how whiny he does ALL HIS FEMALE VOICES! I genuinely physically CRINGE when he does it...over and over.
As I said, disappointing.

She's done it again... a story that is so identifiable and with such great characters that I just don't want to leave at the end of the book!
Great to see Andre again and his insights are always so astounding. *sigh* I wish he were real!
I had trouble putting this one down - it was easy to read, enjoyable the whole way through and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a thoroughly hot read with great characters.

I mostly enjoyed reading Fate. However, I'm 4 chapters into kink and I'm wondering if someone else (someone who has not even read the first book) is writing this.
There are numerous discrepancies. The first couple of chapters overlap the last part of book one. There are similarities but there are huge discrepancies. For instance. His friend, who is staying with him, is out of town on a weekend getaway with Marylyn in the first book. That's why they have the house to themselves. In the second book, during the same scene, is broken up with Marylyn. That why they can have a threesome.
That is only one example. There are to many to list and I'm only on chapter 4.

Wow, not good
I forced myself to finish fate, but couldn't finish kink gave up 6 chapters in. I found nothing sexy about the book. The POV is weird, it keeps changing mid paragraph from the narrator, to Paul, or Emily it just weird. At some points its like word vomit, just tons of nonsense and philosophical enlightenment that come the form of randomly placed quotes, to signal a characters epiphany. Just way to long for what she was trying to do, if it was shorter maybe I'd be able to stand it.

Nikki Sex hits another one out of the park.
This is a wonderful 2-book collection. It gives the entire story of a couple who I fell for!
This collection is great fun but also has emotional depth, intelligence and more steam than you can imagine.
The always incredible Andre shows up to seduce the readers (hooray!). He's always great for some laughs, pants and insights.
I highly recommend this collection for open-minded adults.
