News at Eleven - A Novel, is the-rest-of-the-story beyond the novella that was serialized in Glo Magazine, January - April 2015. Who could forget the first few sentences? . . .
Clisty Sinclair froze as she stared into the monitor. It can’t be her. It’s been too long.
The television camera zoomed in as Clisty’s eyes filled with tears. Shaken, she was numb to the fact that viewers were watching her relive a terrible memory.
The news director’s eyes widened. “Go on!” she mouthed.
Clisty felt nine years old again, frantically grabbing her friend’s hand. But, in the desperate tug-of-war with evil, the muscular man won and dragged her friend away.
She composed herself. “Help police find the witness visible on the ATM’s surveillance camera,” she reported. “Call 555-2020. Let’s roll that again.” Clisty stopped breathing as she watched the jerky video. A huge figure in dark clothes ran from the bank, nearly knocking down a disheveled woman. The woman paid no attention to him, but focused on the ATM. At the surveillance camera, she looked directly into it with guarded, anxious eyes.
“Those eyes,” Clisty murmured. . . .
Share Clisty’s shock and fear as she searches for her childhood friend, kidnapped years before. Also, how will she settle the battle inside herself between a dream career advancement and commitment to a new love?

I won this book on Goodreads.
I have not read this author before and am very disappointed. First of all I hated, hated, hated the name of the main character- Clisty
(yes, that is with an L). It just didn't sit well with me. The story was interesting but similar to recent headlines. The writing had a very poor flow making it difficult to follow. The characters speech patterns were unnatural and the characters were not very believable and seemed immature in their roles. The police officer for example acted in a manner that I believe the police would not by letting civilians (his girlfriend) accompany him in his duties. His overall demeanor was ridiculous as were Clisty's and her bosses. Than goodness it was a quick read.

Disclaimer: I won this book on Goodreads.

This was a nice little story. I liked the characters. There was almost more suspense in the main character's private life than there was in the mystery that was the main plot. The trial (especially the defense lawyer's actions) seemed unrealistic.

Note: There were some typos, including misspelling "pilot" every time it appeared.
