i like the last third of this book. thought it would fix things to throw away the beginning two thirds.. but in the end i only saved a few paragraphs. still have them though. here is what the gist boiled down to-

*the result of running a couple of lines of nostradamus through the author's decoder:

these scattered letters are then rearranged and changed by a person sensitive to the cycles of history until it is clear that nostradamus' prophecy has been ferreted out.

-and here is the completely uncoded prophecy:

"after the earthquake Tom Cruise will give courage to those people who
are in fear for their lives. he will determine to stay in california. he will
calm the social order that cares for a hardened people."

and clarification-

starting in 1992 a series of earthquakes will destroy much of california. everyone will know the earthquakes are coming because the prophecy will be common knowledge by then. but in the months leading up to the first quake californians will be confused and unsure how to procede. out of this confusion tom cruise will publicly announce his decision to stay in california during the earthquakes, and this will greatly comfort the masses.

Kitap Nostradamus’un 1992–1999 yıllarında gerçekleşmesi beklenen kehanetlerini ele alıyor ve açıklamaya çalışıyor. Kehanetler dünyanın çok farklı coğrafyalarında yer alması beklenen ve çok büyük etkileri olabilecek olayları içeriyor. Kitap 1991 yılında yani beklenen olaylar gerçekleşmeden yazılmış ve muhtemelen yayınlandığında oldukça merak uyandırmış.

Ben bugün, 2025 yılında, kitabı okurken kehanetlerin gerçekleşmemiş olduğunu görüyor ve kitabı daha çok merak ve spekülasyon okuması olarak niteliyorum.

Kitapta Nostradamus’un dörtlüklerindeki gizli şifreleri çözmek için geliştirilmiş bir metodoloji de anlatılıyor. Metodoloji dörtlüklerde “kesin tarih ve yerleri” tespit etmeyi amaçlıyor olmakla beraber, öngörülen olaylar hesaplanan tarihlerde gerçekleşmediğine göre, sonuç pek başarılı olmamış.

Kitabın sonunda yer alan Nostradamus’un kısa hayat hikayesini (1503 - 1566) anlatan bölüm en ilgimi çeken kısım oldu. Kendisinin bir doktor olduğunu ve Fransa Kralı II.Henry’in nasıl öleceğini ölümünden dört yıl önce bildiğini öğrenmek ilginçti.

Total and utter drivel. The authors’ “system” for interpreting Nostradmus’s predictions are to jumble the letters from a line, removing ones that don’t allow a semi-readable anagram to be constructed and use those to come up with a date for the prediction’s fulfilment, and you can still discard excess letters that don’t allow you to come up with a sensible date as well. What a load of tosh. How people allow their intelligence to be insulted by such garbage let alone be taken in by it is beyond me. I’ve had to give it one star because goodreads doesn’t allow no stars (any chance of changing that? some books deserve it). Only waste your time and money if you want a good laugh.
