Bears & Balls: The Colbert Report A-Z

Before he made The Late Show #1 in late night comedy, Stephen Colbert revolutionized television satire as host of The Colbert Report. Whether you're new to Colbert's work, or are an original member of the "Colbert Nation," Bears & Balls is the essential handbook for every fan. This encyclopedic journey through the Report's best-known segments and obscure favorites is crammed with details only the show's most knowledgeable fans can deliver. What was The Word modeled after? Was Jay the Intern really an intern? What ever happened to Stephen Jr.? From the technical to the tangential, Bears & Balls: the Colbert Report A-Z covers it all, and answers questions you didn't even know you had.

Are you wondering whether or not you should read this book? Ask yourself this: do you love The Colbert Report? If your answer is 'yes' then, please, run out and get this book. right now!

It is instantly clear that this book is written by longtime fans of the show and the man. It's thorough (no really, it's incredibly thorough), it offers information less hardcore fans might not know about, and it will make you waste time on The Colbert Report website watching all those segments that you forgot about.

Sharilyn and Remy: thank you so much for creating this book!

A fun walk through of the best bits, guest appearances, theme episodes and catch phrases from the late and lamented The Colbert Report. Structured from A to Z, like any good encyclopedia, some entries are more in-depth than others. A lot of pleasant memories for those of us who watched Stephen's series from Day 1, this book is strictly for fans only (of which I count myself as one). Note that the authors has done their research with endless citations given at the end of the book, and as such, offer some clever behind the scenes information. Personally, I'd love to see The Colbert Report receive the same deluxe interview treatment given to the massive Oral History of The Daily Show from last year, but until then, here's the next best thing.
