This textbook dives into the Old Testament from the perspective of ancient Israel. With captivating and rich content, enhanced by maps, tables, biblical reading assignments, discussion topics, and further research prompts, the conversation within Pemberton's book is deepened in is ability to reach both academic and spiritual concepts. The God Who Saves also provides supporting materials available to instructors, such as multiple quiz and exam questions, course syllabi and schedules, and more.
The God Who Saves by author Glenn Pemberton is an organized presentation of Jewish biblical history, Jewish myology, along with various modern translations and versions of the Holy Bible. This book is devised for students and any reader who is interested in having access to a volume of information and study helps such as maps, diagrams, and thought-provoking content. The God Who Saves is not written to convince the reader of any specific doctrine or denominational belief, but to educate the reader, student, or theologian with all various cultural passages in regard to biblical Jewish texts. As I read this book, it held my interest, but I do think the sequence of chronological passages could have been a little better organized. The Kindle version I read needed a lot of editing for spelling corrections due to partial words which I had to guess at in some places. (I have read the KJV Holy Bible in its entirety many times, and I have read other versions as well. )

I am reviewing a copy of The God Who Saves Us through Abilene Christian University Press and Netgalley:
In The God Who Saves Us presents the powerful story, woven through the diverse texts of the Old Testament, of a God who is passionately in love not just with Israel but with all his creations.
This book is geared toward the beginning university student slowing them to have an accessible encounter with the Old Testament.
The God Who Saves dives into the Old Testament from Ancient Israeli eyes. The text is rich in content with maps, tables and Biblical reading assignments adding to the richness. There are research prompts.
I give The God Who Saves Us five out of five stars!
This book is not your typical introduction to the Old Testament. Rather than focusing on textual and historical/archeological matters, Pemberton deals largely with the theological themes of the Old Testament. Augmented with colorful illustrations, maps and charts, this book is an engaging study for any student of the Bible. The focus of the Bible is a revelation of God, His attributes and character, as well as His acts in history. This book gives a clear view of the God of the Bible, and His love toward His people, Israel, flowing through them eventually to all of the world. Recommended!
A comprehensive overview of the Biblical Old Testament, posited in the context of the cultures, literature, and historical perspectives contemporary to the Biblical writings. The author is knowledgeable and his writing style accessible. If stories are the hook to human engagement, this textbook will find many avid readers.
