I am a fan of Dystopian novels and those society type books like Delirium and Divergent, so when I read the blurb of Anomalies - I was there , I knew I would love it. Then of course , as I opened the book I started to have doubts as the first few pages were filled with book praises and endorsements and not by bloggers but famous people like Randy Jackson and Pamela Anderson etc. This made me falter a bit as I thought it was overkill to have all these celebs endorsing the book - I often find it u ...more

Keeva lives in a world where there's peace. People are content and obedient. There are no diseases and advanced technology is what keeps the water clean and the people carefree. All of that has been made possible by Sobek's technology. There are several different communities where they can do the work that suits them. Keeva lives in the Ocean Community. She loves it there and at fifteen she's ready for the rest of her life to begin. She and her friends will go to Monarch Camp where they will be ...more

I lost 2 days of my life to this amazing book because I could NOT PUT IT DOWN. I read a LOT. Copious amounts and appreciate YA as much as the next "grown up"- this was so SPECIAL though. Original, intriguing, never precious. So well constructed. I dare you not to get caught up in it's wonder. HUGE FAN- my only critique is that there isn't a SERIES to delve right back into. MORE, MORE, MORE!

I was consumed by this book! It's fantastic futuristic elements combined with a kick ass female character at the helm, made it not only a page turner, but an inspiration. I read constantly and rarely pick up a YA novel. However, having read all of Colette Freedman's books, I gave it a try. This book is not just for young adults, clearly! I got so caught up in the possibilities of Keeva's world that I imagined myself there. A fantasy and an escape that got me caught up in this world of no disease ...more

To read or not to read: Don’t read. I was hugely disappointed by this book as the blurb made me really keen to read it. At first, it reminded me of Divergent and then I couldn’t get that thought out of my head. Whilst it was fairly well written, it really didn’t do anything for me.

A dystopian speculative fiction that falls on its face due to poor world building, flat characterization, and a mystifying buy-in to just about every popular trope in the genre. Strict classification of people, childhood trauma brain washing, mates chosen by the will and process of an autocratic ruler (who just happens to be an alien). At first I thought the undemanding YA reader would eat it up, but I continued to read, I began to think I needed to give the teens more credit for having some dis ...more

Yesterday, I saw a post on Facebook from someone asking if the wave of young adult dystopian fiction is over, has run its course. It isn't surprising that the question would be raised since the dystopian subgenre of science fiction, often blended with post-apocalyptic, has been extremely popular for quite some time, especially in the young adult field. As we know, very popular trends in fiction often wear themselves out, becoming sort of faddish and trendy, and we readers get tired of them in di ...more

What would you give to live in a world free of war. A world no longer plagued with disease and to never know what hunger felt like. A world like that would be something to see. That's the world Keeva lives in, but of course nothing is ever what it seems.

I have to be honest I was a true fan of Keeva she annoyed me at times with her self doubt than the quick 180 I can conquer world all by myself. Her maturity had me questioning how old she actually was and maybe I was reading a flash back. As thi

With all the positive reviews talking about this being an unputdownable page-turner that will keep you entertained for two days, this review is to say that it is rubbish and only takes a few hours to read.

It had the lamest twist ever and we're probably just lucky that the characters weren't wearing tin-foil hats and discussing crab people living in the hollow Earth. Straight out of the conspiracy theory nutter handbook.

Presumably the sequel will have mind-control chemtrails being sprayed by the

OK, I'll admit it. I read the book in one sitting. It was a page turner, for sure. Heroine Keeva lives in a dystopian future where society has been divided by aptitude, quite like the world of "Divergent," but the twist here is that the post-nuclear apocalypse world peace is organized to further the evil designs of an alien overlord with a conflicted heir. The teen emotions felt spot on, and the thematic issues of free will, individuality and identity are all just the kind of thing that drive YA ...more

If you want a book that you don't want to put down, then this is the book. The plot is compelling and is well written. As a reader, you are drawn into this peaceful society. It isn't until the revelation of the anomalies, that have you rethinking this peaceful society. I am totally looking forward to a sequel.

A fast-faced, gripping story that centers on a modern heroine much like Katniss and Tris...fighting for and finding her autonomy and sovereignty in the face of great opposition. If you're a fan of Hunger Games and Divergent you'll love this book. Highly recommend. Book one of a series. Hopefully book two will be out SOON! :)

Such an incredible read! I couldn't put it down! The intriguing, well developed characters and imaginative, futuristic concepts kept me completely hooked! I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It will definitely be the next biggest thing in literature. You won't be disappointed!!

I'd read previous books by Colette Freedman and was impressed, so I jumped at the chance to read this one. Usually the dystopian thing isn't for me but I found this story completely captivating. The characters are compelling and the story elegantly constructed. Definitely recommend!

Stayed up all night reading this YA Dystopian book. I loved how tough Keeva was and the alternating chapters kept the book paced perfectly. This is like a cross between Divergent and Matched with great characters, strong dialogue and a compelling storyline. Would recommend for kids 13 and up.

I'm having such mixed feelings about this book! In the first half, I identified so many cliches that I've lost count (which I'm not going to state here as not to spoil anyone), but then the second half turned out to actually be pretty damn good and the ending left me honestly wondering if there's going to be a second book... most likely, there won't be, but I'm still kinda wishing there'd be one.
Also, I've finished this in a couple of hours - it was an easy read, but still, a good one!

Anomalies captured my attention from the moment I saw the name. The cover and the blurb only made me want to read this book even more and I am so happy I got the opportunity to read it. It has a very interesting plot, strong characters, and has such great writing that I had a hard time putting it down. When I finally got to the end, I was prepared for so much more reading and I am eagerly awaiting a sequel! Like, I could use it now.
