This is an informative book in the Inside Story series, created by David Salariya. Several of the books in this series are written by Fiona MacDonald, who has also written books for the You Wouldn't Want to... series (also created by Mr. Salariya) and we were excited to see a similar series and a familiar author.

The narrative is very similar in style to the other books but has a more serious tone and the illustrations are more realistic and not cartoonish. The information in the book appears to be a bit dense, but really flows like the narratives in the other series, although perhaps a bit drier.

I actually learned quite a lot and found the books to be a pleasant read. I was disappointed that our girls weren't very interested in reading this book with me, and I think I will try again to pique their interest.

September 2014: I was able to read this book with our girls after all. They were fascinated by the history of the temples, especially now that they are so knowledgable about the mythology. It wasn't a fast read by any means, and I skipped a lot of the smaller blurbs, allowing them to read them on their own. It's a good complement to the Greek stories we've read.
