Interesting read. I wasn't aware it was following historical events until it mentioned the assassination of JFK. I did read a bit about some of the real drivers the book mentions after that part, since I really only recognized Richard Petty and Junior Johnson prior. The book has some pacing issues and there were a few times the writing left something to be desired imo, but it was fun to ride along with Jodell and his buds. All in all a decent read, especially since I went in with little background knowledge and didn't pay attention to the fact that i was reading the 3rd book in a series lol
