I wrote THE POWER OF WRITING WELL to address everything managers, leaders, engineers, scientists and others need to be better senders and receiver s, not to cover everything they need to know about the language or to be the perfect sender or receiver; nobody is. The many books on writing and communicating that claim to be everything to everybody fail simply because they are overwhelmingly complex, full of jargon and useless labels and distinctions such as participial phrase as opposed to gerund phrase, or transitive verb versus intransitive verb. Most of us outside of academe don’t care, and we shouldn’t since they are not relevant to our needs. This short book condenses the habits and techniques—your tools—that work most of the time for most of the people who write at work and want to be happier in all parts of their nothing more, nothing less . It is also a true and accurate reflection of my forty years of writing for business and of teaching writing at two prestigious universities and many professional societies and companies. You can trust that what I’m telling you will improve your abilities to communicate and think, and make you more productive, promotable, and happy. It will also make your organization more efficient and profitable. I guarantee it, and my students attest to it .

I enjoyed reading this book. It provides many examples on writing in clear, concise, and quick memos, letters, and really, anything you're planning on writing. I am definitely going to come back to this book as I will always struggle with writing, but I think that's the point. You can't be perfect, but I can always write better.

This is a pretty well put together book. It is easy to follow and provides a lot of valuable information to help really anyone become a better/more efficient writer. Whether you’re wanting to learn to write better for business or just in general this book offers clear and concise ideas to make a big impact on your audience. I really enjoyed reading this book. The author is pretty well organized and writes in an easy to understand manner. I feel this book is valuable especially to those who need to write for business communications but it is well rounded enough to help anyone who just wants to write better in general. I would definitely be interested in reading more from Pete Geissler. This will definitely be one that I keep on the bookshelf to reference back to often.

The book is a concise treatise on the topic and does not belabor points to make the book longer. It is an exercise in clear thought that is a helpful example of how effective good writing can really be. If you want to be a more effective communicator, this is definitely one to pick up and read.
