Read this book for a college fitness course. It was terrible. On top of numerous grammatical errors and typos (for example, "mute" point instead of moot point), this book was written in a highly snooty, didactic tone that I found off-putting. On top of that, it espoused many dubious views. This book basically stated that without some kind of theistic belief, you can't have well-being (atheists can't be healthy!)In terms of nutrition it contradicts itself in many places (it tells you that calcium inhibits iron absorption, then provides a table where the highest iron amount is provided by an "instant breakfast" made with whole milk). It states that only people who aren't in committed relationships have unplanned pregnancies. These are just a few gems off the top of my head.
But the tone of this book is what really made it almost unreadable. Do you smoke? Stop that. It's bad. Do you drink alcohol? Well if you absolutely HAVE to, 2 per day for men, 1 for women! But best of all, don't drink! Are you overweight? If you were SENSIBLE, you'd restrict calories and begin an exercise regimen. This book goes beyond educational and right into preachy, bossy, and insulting. It's riddled with inconsistencies, bad writing, and subtle proselytizing. I do not recommend it.
