OK--the book I meant to review is Iqbal and Goethe, but it isn't listed.

Iqbal and Goethe, by M. Ikram Chaghatai, is a fabulous meditation on the bridge between western and eastern thought. Glossed over in his western biographies, Chaghatai delves deep into the fascination Goethe had with Persian poetry. Iqbal, Sufi philosopher, poet and politician, translated Goethe's works, and explains his choices. It's a great reference to have around when you need some inspiration. Pretty academic, but thor
