I especially liked the timeline at the end, showing the dynasties along with the developments in other ancient cultures. A very readable author reviewing what is known about the particular pharaohs and dynasties. And with illustrations in the colors that may have been applied at first.

Much better than I expected it to be for a book with many artist's recreations of ancient Egyptian artwork and monuments. It's a pretty thorough and easy to follow overview of ancient Egyptian history.

Good sections on hieroglyphs, Egyptian mythology, and Hatshepsut's temple at Deir el Bahri.
