Summer vacation planning is always so much fun. My kids are excited to learn about all the ways we can travel across the country. They've been in the car and on a train, but never have they traveled on an airplane. Always curious, they both want to know what it is like.

"Ellie's First Plane Ride" by Marci Fair is the story of Ellie the Elephant and her friend Pudgy the Penguin as they go on a journey to visit Ellie's relatives. Never having been on a plane before, Ellie is incredibly nervous, but thanks to Pudgy's reassurance and assistance they safely arrive at the zoo. Once at the Zoo the two friends set out to find Ellie's relatives, but none of the other animals know where Ellie's family is. Will the two friends ever find the other other elephants before it's time to return home?

"Ellie's First Plane Ride" will take your child on a plane ride from start to finish, explaining everything along the way. From checking flight departures, riding the escalator to getting on the plane your child will explore the airport and learn about the process of getting on an airplane.

Ellie and Pudgy are adorable, well loved plush animals with big personalities. My kids immediately recognized Pudgy the Penguin. We have a similar plush animal at home that my kids insist my be related to Pudgy. My son has asked to read this story three nights in a row.

The kids and I love that the illustrations are done in scrapbook style, using real photographs of their airport and zoo journey. This helps your child visualize what is happening each step of the way. The author highlights words throughout the story which not only adds visual appeal, it helps your young reader learn which words to emphasize as he/she reads along.

"Ellie's First Plane Ride" is an excellent way to show your child what will happen when you go on a trip by plane, helping to relieve any fears and anxiety they may have.

**Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of "Ellie's First Plane Ride" in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.

Ellie's First Plane Ride is the whimsical tale of a sweet little elephant and her friend, a penguin named Pudgy, who embark on a spirited journey to meet Ellie's family.

Ellie and her best friend Pudgy decide to take a trip to visit some of Ellie's relatives. However, Ellie has never been on a plane before and is a little scared. Pudgy reassures her that everything will be alright and the two set off on their getaway. The first leg of the trip is a piece of cake, but when the friends arrive at the zoo none of the other animals know where Ellie's family is. Can the pair decipher the map and locate the elephants?

Ellie is just the sweetest little elephant and little ones will fall in love with her and she overcomes her fears and discovers new things. I love that the illustrations are actual pictures. Using real photos in children's books has always been a favorite of mine. Not only are the photographs visually stimulating but they give children a realistic idea of what to expect when travelling by plane or visiting the zoo. I think Ellie's First Plane Ride is a very creative, well organized story that little ones will want to hear again and again.

I recommend picking up a copy.

The premise of this book is one that children will relate to, it is based on the adventures of Ellie, a small stuffed elephant. Ellie has accompanied Elle on several of her trips and has experienced going through the airports, security machines, looking out the window of the airplane, sleeping in unfamiliar beds and taking a tour of a zoo.
The highlight for Ellie is of course her visit with the elephants and their chat that followed their initial hello. Ellie was excited to tell all of her stuffed animal friends about her adventures. Her last thought before drifting off to sleep was her wondering what her next adventure would be.
One very charming feature of the book is the solicitation at the end of travel photos of other stuffed friends. My daughter has taken her favorite stuffed animal with her on trips for years, he is called Fuzzy and if we had thought of it he could have been featured in many travel photos. I am sure there are many other children with similar stories to tell.

"I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own."

Another creative book by Marci and Elle! Ellie's First Plane Ride is just as cute and warm as Ellie Makes a New Friend! Unique with photographs and enjoyable characters and scenes, this is a book that is sure to make any young child smile. Ellie's First Plane Ride is filled with fun information about what its like to board a plane and has lots of vocabulary words. There are also pictures of different animals with their proper names that are sure to make any child seem like a genius when they learn them ;-) Just as with Ellie Makes a New Friend, a portion of every book sale is given to children in need, so when you buy a book you are not only giving your kids a sweet story to read, but you are also helping out some less fortunate children who need our help. I encourage everyone to pick up a copy whether you have small children or not; the adorable pictures and story are sure to put a smile on your face! 5 out of 5 stars!

Given To Me For An Honest Review

The Amazing Adventures of Ellie The Elephant: Ellie's First Plane Ride by Marci Fair and Elle Fair is the second book in the series. This time Ellie is doing the happy dance because she is so excited. She is going on a triip to meet her distant relatives and she will be going on a plane ride to get there. This will be her first plane ride and she is going with Pudgy, her best friend. This book is like a memory book of Ellie's trip. It has pictures of Ellie and Pudgy's experience at the airport, on the plane, the hotel and then the zoo. And the reaction when Ellie finally meets her relatives. Inside you'll find everything very colorful and easy to read. I gave this book 5 stars but wish I could give it more because it deserves many more. It would make a great gift to give. It would make a great addition to your child's library or to any library's bookshelf. I
hightly recommend it to everyone, even if you don't have children. I wait for the next 3 books from the series ... Marci and Elle please don't make me wait too long.

Ellie is flying to see her relatives. She's taking her friend Pudgy with her. Ellie is nervous because she's never flown on a plane before. But Pudgy thinks flying is exciting and helps Ellie not be so nervous. Follow the two friends as they navigate the airport and later as they search to find Ellie's relatives.

The bright colorful photographs of the adorable stuffed animals will catch the young readers attention. The words are a larger print and the vocabulary should fit a 1-2 level reader. Children will love the creativity of the animals as they visit places they've never been. The concept will also open up discussion with the parents as they discuss flying, going to new places, and overcoming fears. The story ends as the two stuffed friends relax in their bed at home after their long trip. It's an adorable book that young and old readers will both appreciate. I look forward to sharing the next book with my children.

This is a great read for children who are about to embark on their first plane ride to help minimize any fears they might have in flying. Also, being able to take a stuffed animal with them on the plane for comfort is a great idea. The story line is great. The actual pictures of Elle the elephant and Pudgy the penguin stuffed animals in the airport and on the plane are fantastic. This is an easy read for children. The highlighted red words were a bit distracting when I read it to my great grandson. He kept pointing to the words and asking why they were red. Kudos for my great grandson - he knows his colors. The printed illustrations were adapted to each page to where Elle and Pudgy were at that moment of their picture which I really liked. For example, if they were on the tram at the airport the printed illustration showed train tracks. Great story overall and will be reading it again and again.

I would like to thank Bostick Communications and the authors, Marci and Elle Fair, for a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review. Ellie's First Plane ride is a cute story about Ellie, a stuffed elephant, and Pudgy, a penguin who is Ellie's best friend. The bright colors, mostly easy to read words, scrapbook inspired layouts and photos depicting traveling with an "animal" are written with a child in mind. From a parent standpoint, this book can be used to show a child who has not flown before a little about air travel. I did not particularly care for the haphazard color change of the text. It would have been a great way to highlight difficult words or to establish a visual pattern, but the randomness was distracting to the eye. This was a missed opportunity for a great teaching moment, in my opinion. As far as recommendations go, this book would be great for children who are taking their first plane ride.

K and I received this book to give an honest review.
K actually enjoyed this book being as his favorite things in the book were the different animals in the zoo that Ellie got to meet.
A on the other hand didn't enjoy it as I think it was too long for her at the moment, so we will try again later on.
Ellie and her friend Pudgy are going on their first plane ride to see Ellie's family who are in a zoo. They get to see so many amazing things on the plane and at the zoo, it is a real adventure that I believe the kids will enjoy reading about.
The pictures were very realistic minus the stuffed elephant and penguin.
Can't wait to read more on Ellie's adventures and what she gets to see in the world around her.
I say this is good for ages 4 on up.

This is a cute little story about a stuffed elephant and her best friend, a penguin.

Ellie wants to find her relatives and decides to take a plane ride to the zoo so she can find the elephants. She wants Pudgy to go with her. Both of them have a great plane ride and a fun time at the zoo. Will Ellie find her relatives? Read this cute picture book and find out.

I love how the story is written about two stuffed toys and actual photos have been used to move the story along. This would be a great story to read to young kids and also for those learning to read themselves.

I got this book from the author and Bostick in exchange for my honest review.

Another incredible book written about Ellie the Elephant. It is written step-by-step about taking a plane ride and going to the zoo. The young authors use photographs instead of illustrations to tell the story. This is a mentor text for young authors. Students can use this idea to photograph and write about trips they take; a great way to incorporate technology into students’ writing. Additional ways to use this book in the classroom:
• Time order words
• Different types of punctuation
• Animal research ideas
I am excited to share this book with my second grade students and incorporate photos into the stories my students are authoring.

I received this book for a fair review.

Overview: Ellie and Pudgy are on a new adventure. They are flying out to see Ellie’s relatives at the zoo. There’s just one problem, Ellie has never been on an airplane before. Pudgy is there the help her on their way.

Likes: Pudgy is still my biggest like. The read along words are back as well as the scrapbook look. The concept was the good one of ‘friends make things easier to bear.’

Conclusion: I can’t imaging that many will have a problem with this series. Enjoy this light-hearted read with your child.

Book 2 is a new adventure for Ellie and Pudgie as they take on the world with their first plane ride. The images are vivid and line right up with the story. It is clear that the author went out of their way prepping this story by the real photographs inside the book. The story is easy for kids to relate to. Highly recommended for kids 3+ . 5 fangs.
