This was a sweet story. Miriam was likable and my favorite character in this story, and I liked Grace and Eli more as the story progressed. The quilts were interesting. I like the stories behind each of the quilts that were mentioned. The end was my favorite part of the story. I'm glad Miriam finally got to be happy.
I loved hearing about Eli and his children. A great story about Grace a teenager and needing that someone looking out for you and someone you can talk to too. Also her younger brother starting to grow up but also needing a mum too. Eli realises the other women aren’t right for him and the Miriam is perfect. I love how she fitted right into their family from the start, while that was looking out for Grace, giving her advice etc. The stories about each of the patches on the quilts is really good too, they sounded so amazing with the meaning behind each square. The ending of this book is so beautiful.
I’d recommend this book to everyone who loves Amish novels, mums of teens, teenage girls and anyone who loves stories about community and family.
There are just some books that hit you in the feels. Miriam, as odd of a duck as ever, does that. I loved her character. I’m surprised Eli would threaten someone but then not take kindly to someone spanking their child. I’m starting to find that Beth Wiseman is one of my favorite authors and she hits right on point. Christian romance books always have a happy ending. I’m so glad I found these. I no longer sit there going “really? They really just killed so and so or they put what’s her face with him?”
Eli, widowed for several years, moves his family to a new community, hoping yo find a new love. Several older men in the community steer him towards two widows, also hoping to remarry. But Eli is intrigued by Miriam, who most in the community consider a bit odd. Eli's children, Grace and Ben have differing opinions about their father seeing anyone, let alone his thinking of remarriage. When Grace has her first "boyfriend" and he pressures her to do things she doesn't want too, who can she trust? Even with this being a novella, I enjoyed this book.
