I like that this book exposes young children to opera, especially when funding for arts education is generally lacking these days. I wasn't expecting the plot of a bear family who was on speaking term swith a Chippewa Indian chief, moving to Saint Paul, Minnesota to start a career in opera, and ending up at La Scala in Milan, but I like the unexpected sometimes. There's a bit too much text for me to use this in storytime, but I would definitely hand it to a child in the library.
