What do you do when you have loved someone most of your life and don’t believe they will love you back? For Sarah Cass’ heroine, Eve, the answer is to be his “best friend” until it hurts so much you can’t stand it.
Eve’s New Year is part of the Holiday in Lake Point series, but reads very well as a stand-alone story. The book centers on Eve and Jake who have been friends since they grew up next door to each other and now work together. To say they have baggage would be a huge

This book was a cute fast read. A friends to lovers book. Eve has been in love with her best friend Jake forever but only ever fantasized about being with him. As she thinks she's not his type and he's only done things for her out of pity and he sees her as his little sister. Jake has been shot down by Eve twice and doesn't want to risk losing her at all so he will keep her in his life by being her best friend. But he's noticing more and more how attracted he is to her and how he doesn't like ...more
Sassy Beta Reading & Review
This is book 6 in the Holidays in Lake Point Series but can be read as a stand alone. I myself am new to the series, and have decided I need to go back and read the others in the series because I liked this one so much. This was a multi pov book (which of course, I love!!)

This was a sweet, clean, romance that tugged at my heartstrings a bit. I admit, I shed a few tears with this one. That's 2 books in a row that I read that had me spouting the waterworks. But, more about this book......

It was a

Eve and Jake run an antique shop. When Eve is offered a new job in Albany, she wants to take it but her heart is telling her to tell Jake how he feels and see what he says. She leaves for her new job and both are miserable. When New Year’s Eve rolls around, they finally see each other and from that point on, there is no stopping them. Excellent writing as always with this author.

Eve's New Year is the story of Eve, and her lifelong friend - and crush - Jake. After living in their home town all her life, and working with Jake at his family's antique store for years, Eve decides that she must move away in order to move on with her life, and accept the fact that Jake does not like her "in that way." Not only does he treat her like his buddy, events from their past seem to indicate strongly to Eve that her love will remain unrequited.

As the holidays approach, Eve receives

In this book, we follow Eve and Jake. Eve and Jake grew up next to one another. When her mother's boyfriend would come over to the house, she'd be over at Jake's house. She moved away for a while and came back. They've been best friends for years. What resentment does Eve harbor towards Jake? Why? What did he do or say that caused it? What secret(s) has Jake been hiding from Eve? What does Tripoli mean to the two of them? How does Eve feel about that word? What about Jake? This is a book that ...more

This is a sweet and easy romance that made me smile. Although Eve's New Year is book 6 in the Holidays in Lake Point series, it is a true standalone. I often enjoy more drama and angst with my reads, but this book was a nice seasonal escape.

Eve and Jake have been friends since school. Eve has loved Jake for as long as she can remember. He was the popular guy at school, who didn't let his status influence his personality. He was however blind to Eve's affections. Now that Eve is all grown up and

OMG I just wanted to bang these two characters heads together, they are supposed to be friends but just do not talk to each other. Years they have wasted tip toeing around their feelings and avoiding the biggest of them all, why their other friends hadn't stepped in is the authors guess. A lot of avoidance is the basis of this story and Eve's mother Alzheimer's, taking place over Christmas and ending at New Years. But then growing up in a small town around each other with Eve having been teased ...more

I read another novella in this series called Santa, Maybe earlier this month. This author has a good thing going for her. Short, very impact-full, and drama filled little novellas all taking place in the same "world".

This one is about a girl named Eve and her life-long friend (and crush) Jake. Eve is trying to figure out what she wants out of life after being stuck in her small town doing the same things day to day. She's living a rut life, and needs to make some decisions. She gets a job offer

RECEIVED FOR AN HONEST REVIEW

Well Eve and Jake are as hard headed as they come. These two have been friends since they were kids but they are blind as bats when it comes to how the other one feels for each other. Will these two finally get off of their pity train and admit how they feel before it is too late?

Sarah Cass’ world is regularly turned upside down by her three special needs kids and loving mate, so she breaks genre barriers; dabbling in horror, straight fiction and urban fantasy. She loves historicals and romance, and characters who are real and flawed, so she writes to understand what makes her fictional people tick. And she lives for a happy ending – eventually. And enough twists to make ...more
