Needless to say this is one weird book. Not exactly comedy, but not exactly playing it straight either. I find it enjoyably weird in a way that usually wears out its welcome quickly, but in this case doesn’t.
And then it gets weird.
An odalisque was historically a female slave or attendant in an Ottoman seraglio or harem, particularly in the household of the Ottoman Sultan.
No, Rudy Rucker’s 1984 sci-fi novel Master of Space and Time has never been adapted into a feature film. While director Michel Gondry and comic book creator Daniel Clowes discussed turning the book into a movie in the mid-2000s—with Jack Black attached to star—the project was officially canceled.
I ask because it would make one helluva film.

I am glad of two things. 1) I read this book. 2) I didn’t read anything about this book before I read it.
The picture on the cover of the book by the way - at least the Baen Books paperback that I have - is an actual representation of what happens in the book
This book is about two guys who invent the ability to grant wishes in their garage. And what happens afterwards.
I’d call it a fever-dream of a book but I’ve never had a fever dream.
This is a four bong hit book. It didn’t really mean anything, but it was an interesting read.
And I would LOVE to have seen a Jack Black movie about this!
