HOOFPRINTS - G+ Crum, Laura - 2nd in Gail McCarthy series
Product Description Veterinarian Gail McCarthy finds herself at the hands of a murderer after she stumbles upon the bullet-ridden bodies of two of her wealthiest human clients, Ed and Cindy Whitney, and discovers some disturbing secrets about the dead couple's fast-paced life.
Crum is a Dick Francis fan. It was an enjoyable read.
A very entertaining, well written read. The plot was well thought out and the characters well proportioned in the story. All of the horse pieces were accurate and enjoyable as sometimes writers take liberties within the equine world. But this all flowed well.
Anyone that has horses and has used bute has had the thought about how much that white powder resembles something else entirely. The shooter had me guessing until the end.
Seems that friends of Gail were murdered by other friends. This time, she goes to a house to check a horse only to find the owners dead; later, when showing the horse, she finds the culprit. Wow! Too bad we don't know whether or not the girlfriend was involved
Began reading this while waiting in jury duty and it sucked me right out of the holding pen, I mean 'juror's lounge'. Good writing, good characters & setting, action well-paced & you learn a lot about horses & competitive reigning & cutting. Definitely a similar feel to the early Dick Francis books but a little more toward the cozy side. I liked the feel of the California coast community setting and definitely want to read more of veterinarian Gail McCarthy's adventures.
This was an easy and enjoyable read. Along with mystery there was interesting information about horses. I didn't guess the ending. It kept me reading and the characters were likable. It is one of those books that relaxes and soothes after a hectic day. Thank you Laura Crum for a relaxing and fun read.
Apparently one of a series wherein a lady equine vet solves mysteries. It's a fast-paced murder-mystery with fairly well-developed characters and plot. A few twists to keep it interesting and keep the reader wondering. The kindle version could use some editing.
Second in the Gail McCarthy Mystery series. Should appeal to teens and adults who enjoy "safe" amateur detectives and horses, details of veterinarians, and an every day person as the protagonist.
A good story, and does know her horse stuff! (coming from a horse owner) Kind of reminds me of Dick's stories but more broader since Gail is a vet. Worth the time to read!
